Two London restaurants have been named in the 50 best in the world
Earlier this month the extended list (from 51 to 100) was revealed, and two London restos featured. Now the top 50 has been unveiled at an awards ceremony in Turin. Now in its 23rd year, the 2025 list comprises eateries from 32 cities and 22 countries, with 10 new entries and four re-entries.
In the ranking, two London restaurants were crowned as one of the world's 50 best in 2025. High-end Mexican restaurant Kol came in 49th place. The Michelin-starred spot in Marylebone is known for its impeccable presentation, and for making Mexican dishes with British ingredients. Helmed by ex-Noma and Noma Mexico chef Santiago Lastra, some of Kol's best-renowned dishes include a langoustine taco, and a whole grilled octopus with bone marrow.
The other London restaurant to make the list was Ikoyi, coming in 15th place. According to the World's 50 Best, co-founders Jeremy Chan and Iré Hassan-Odukale have 'created a culinary style that defies categorisation'. The swish joint on the Strand blends West African and Asian spices with British vegetables, meat and fish to create a unique blind tasting menu. Stand out dishes include a refined take on jollof rice and the plantain dish, which has taken on different iterations over the years. When Time Out visited Ikoyi when it opened in 2017, we called it 'a thrilling anomaly even in London's diverse food scene'.

The family requests privacy during this time of sadness' (Picture: Gary Miller/FilmMagic) Born Leonardo Jiménez in San Antonio, Texas, in 1939, 'Flaco' (a nickname meaning 'skinny' that both he and his father shared) was raised in an incredibly musical household. His father, Santiago Jiménez Sr., was a key figure in conjunto music - which has its roots in the Texas-Mexico border region. His grandfather Patricio was also a prominent musician. Flaco joined his dad's band by seven, first playing the bajo sexto before switching to the accordion, which would become his signature instrument (Picture: Michel Linssen/Redferns) Heavily influenced by his father and zydeco legend Clifton Chenier, Jiménez - who would go on to win six Grammys, including the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2015 - soon made his name beyond Tejano circles. He became the go-to accordionist for musical stars across the genres, adding his distinctive sound to a wide range of recordings and albums. His solo work and collaborations made him something of an international ambassador for Mexican-American music. After more than a decade, David Mitchell and Robert Webb are bringing back the sketch show with a brand new comedy. Channel 4 has finally released a first look clip and image from the upcoming series Mitchell and Webb Are Not Helping, a brand new sketch show hitting screens in September 2025. The six-part season reunites comedy giants Mitchell and Webb on screen for the first time since 2017's Back and 12 years since the end of Peep Show, where they'll be joined by the next generation of comedy heroes, including Ghosts star and Great British Sewing Bee's best-ever host Kiell Smith-Bynoe, Lara Ricote, Stevie Martin, and Krystal Evans. The first preview of Mitchell and Webb Are Not Helping shows a flustered Mitchell sweating his way through airport security, manifesting our biggest fears while also feeling terrifyingly accurate. It's painfully awkward, completely absurd and fans are already calling the show 'a gift'. While many viewers of the preview said they 'can't wait', Mitchell and Webb fan Henry Shevlin has high hopes the show will be even funnier. He wrote on X: 'Mitchell & Webb are probably my favourite British comedians so looking forward to this.
