Flagging off a public rally at Dharmavaram as part of the Swarn Andhra – Swachh Andhra initiative, Mr. Chetan emphasised the urgent need to eliminate single-use plastic, citing its critical impact on environmental protection. He urged the public to carry jute or cloth bags instead of plastic covers while shopping. He also appealed to vendors, both large and small, to switch to eco-friendly alternatives to meet customer needs.
'Teachers should take the initiative to sensitise students about the importance of using jute bags and steel water bottles,' the Collector said, underlining the need for public cooperation to make the campaign a success. He also administered a pledge to students and the public, encouraging their active support in eradicating single-use plastic from daily life.
As part of the event, Mr. Chetan felicitated health workers from the Dharmavaram municipality in recognition of their dedicated service in maintaining cleanliness.
Later, he inspected the recreation parks maintained by the municipality and suggested measures to modernise the street lighting system and take up beautification initiatives in the town.
The rally, which saw participation from officials of various government departments, students, teachers, and members of the public, passed through the main junctions of the town, drawing attention to the collective commitment to a cleaner, greener future.

Puttaparthi (Sri Sathya Sai district):District Collector T S Chetan has instructed officials to accelerate the identification of Bangaru families and mentors, and ensure swift documentation and online registration. Speaking via video-conference from the local Collectorate on Friday, the Collector reviewed progress on P4-related activities, including adoption of Bangaru families, mentor selection and registration, gram sabhas, delivery of government welfare schemes, and public feedback. Addressing RDOs, constituency and mandal special officers, MPDOs, and tahsildars, the Collector emphasised that field-level identification and adoption of Bangaru families, as well as mentor appointments, must be completed promptly and registered online without delay. He also stressed the importance of organising gram sabhas in coordination with all departments to gather positive public feedback. Collector Chetan directed that documentation from field offices be uploaded without delay and instructed officials to ensure that pension distribution on August 1st proceeds smoothly, despite any staff transfers in village secretariats. Weekly inspections of hostel facilities were also mandated to check drinking water supply, pipe repairs, and other necessities. Any issues found during inspections must be resolved immediately. To prevent the spread of seasonal diseases, hostel students should be provided with boiled and cooled drinking water, he said. MPDOs were told to promptly verify and process applications submitted under the 'Thalliki Vandhanam' scheme. The eKYC process must also be completed swiftly, with no room for errors in migration records. The Collector stressed that public services being implemented under government flagship programmes should receive positive responses from the people, and steps must be taken to achieve that. Among the officials who participated in the video-conference were CPO Vijay Kumar, DRDA PD Narasayya, SDCs Suryanarayana Reddy and Ramasubbayya, DD of Social Welfare Shiv Ranga Prasad, RWS SE, SSA PO Jayaraju, Deputy CEO of ZP and others.

Speaking at the 'Swarnandhra-Swachh Andhra' rally on 'Cleanliness and Plastic Eradication' held in Dharmavaram, the Collector emphasised the importance of eliminating plastic, especially single-use plastics, for the survival of humanity. He encouraged people to replace plastic bags with jute or cloth alternatives while shopping. Vendors, supermarkets and street sellers should provide eco-friendly bags instead of plastic. Teachers and students were urged to raise awareness about using jute bags and steel water bottles as sustainable alternatives. Collector Chetan stressed the importance of community participation for the campaign's success and directed officials and volunteers to spread awareness on plastic alternatives. As part of the same initiative, the Collector felicitated sanitation workers Pullanna and Katamayya for their dedicated service to cleanliness in the district. Later, the Collector visited Gandhi Nagar and Railway Station Road municipal parks, including the Butterfly Park in Dharmavaram. He issued instructions to enhance park amenities, including improved lighting and creating a pleasant environment for the public. CM Naidu announces 300-acre Circular Economy Industrial Park near Tirupati
TIRUPATI: In a significant move toward sustainable development, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced the establishment of a 300-acre Circular Economy Industrial Park at Thukivakam near Tirupati. The announcement was made during his address at the 'Swarnandhra-Swachhandhra' programme, reflecting the State's strong push for environmental cleanliness and resource efficiency. Highlighting the importance of a circular economy, Naidu urged citizens to adopt this change at their homes by producing compost from kitchen waste. Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister offered prayers at the TTD Kapileswara Swamy temple in Kapilatheertham for the State's prosperity and inspected the integrated waste processing centre at Thukivakam. Addressing youth, he called them the 'torchbearers of the future,' urging them to lead with innovation and uphold the intellectual legacy of the Telugu people. Naidu also stressed the significance of the 'Swachhandhra' programme, conducted on the third Saturday of every month, aimed at statewide cleanliness.
