So I went French.
Except it was a bantamweight XS because I couldn't afford the insurance on a GTI.
Proper laugh when you hurried it. Sad day when I let it go.
Now Peugeot Sport has got me all excited by revealing a box-fresh 208 GTI with lots of codes to its great grandpa.
Like the classic red paint job, pepperpot wheels, red carpet and patterned sporty seats.
It's electric, of course. But hear me out.
It's 280hp with a limited-slip differential integrated into the gear reducer.
It sits lower to hug the ground. The wheels are pushed out wider.
It has specially-tuned suspension and a rear anti-roll bar. Michelin rubber. Beefy brakes.

Nothing will get past you on a B-road.
The only snag is the price. About £38k–£39k I reckon.
Have a goosey on pistonheads.com and you'll see an original 205 GTI on there, albeit a 1.6 and not a 1.9, for half that price.

Android owners rejoice! One of the most clamored-for functions on the Lucid Air has finally arrived: Android Auto connectivity. The automaker announced on June 16, 2025, that a simple over-the-air update to Lucid OS 2.7.0 will bring the 'Android Auto Smart Driving Companion Application' to all Lucid Air vehicles. The Lucid Air EV sedan comes in four flavors, ranging from the $69,900 base level Pure to the utterly ludicrous $249,000 Sapphire. The Pure gets by with plenty of power, up to 430 hp and a 0-60 mph figure of 4.5 seconds. It even has an estimated range of 420 miles and a 17-minute charge time to 200 miles. The Sapphire, on the other hand, gets 1,234 hp and a 0-60 mph time of 1.89 seconds. The range for that model comes in at 427 miles with a 15-minute charge time to 200 miles. One step down from that is the $110,900 Grand Touring, which is more likely the one most people would get. That one has 819 hp, a 0-60 mph time of 3 seconds, 512 miles of range, and a 12-minute charge time to 200 miles. Chilling moment thieves steal car with wireless device in seconds as new doc reveals how Brit motors end up in Lithuania
CHILLING footage shows the moment thieves stole a car in just seconds using a wireless device. Investigative reporter Matt Shea went undercover for Channel 4 Dispatches to shed light on organised criminal gangs specialising in car thefts. 5 5 5 In the show, which will air in full tonight, Shea met whistleblowers and car thieves in a bid to expose the truth. A sneak peek at the much-anticipated programme shows two car thieves demonstrating using keyless technology bought from the dark web. Footage shows the pair revealing to Shea exactly how they can steal a car in just 20 seconds. Thief 'T' and an accomplice demonstrated how they use an amplifier, which looks similar to a radio or walkie-talkie. It picks up the signal from the "key" inside a home and use it to unlock a car parked outside. The device works by scrambling the signal from a remote key fob, and was used in nearly 60 percent of car thefts in the UK last year. After just a few seconds of holding the amplifier outside the window, the car door unlocked, allowing T to simply open the door and start up the engine. Once the engine had started, the accomplice could take the amplifier, jump in the car and they drove off, with the entire theft taking less than 20 seconds. Asked if they feel anything for the people they steal from they respond: 'These cars are insured, that's like, that a first world problem, you know, there's bigger s*** going on out there,. "Like your f***ng Range Rover 's gone, boo-hoo, go and buy another one, man.' The men claimed they have taken up to 20 vehicles a month for as much as £5,000 per car, depending on its value. They told Shea that up to 90 per cent of cars are broken down for their parts. Last year approximately 355 vehicles were stolen every day in England and Wales. The shocking finds equate to a stolen car every four minutes, and more than 70 per cent the amount stolen a decade ago. Freedom of Information requests to police forces in England and Wales also reveal that – for the 18 forces who responded - only 3.4 per cent of reports of a car being stolen between 2020 and 2024 led to someone being charged or summonsed. In the documentary, criminals revealed how highly organised gangs stole cars, dismantling them at so called 'chop shops' before shipping them out of the country to Eastern Europe. The programme reveals how a blue Audi A4, fitted with a hidden tracker, was stolen from a woman's driveway in north London on March 15. The car's GPS signal showed the Audi moving east towards the borough of Enfield and then switching off. Five weeks later, the tracker suddenly reappeared in Kaunas, Lithuania, and was tracked to a business in the outskirts of the city called Baltic Car Trade. Dispatches filmed the police raid on the property, but instead of finding a blue Audi A4, all they found that was left of the vehicle was a bunch of wires. Land Rover reveals expedition-ready Defender with air snorkel and chunky all-terrain tyres
Land Rover has revealed a new special-edition Defender that harks back to its classic Camel Trophy cars, gaining off-road accessories and retro paint colours. Based on the mid-sized Defender 110, it gains 20in alloy wheels, a choice of Deep Sandglow Yellow or Keswick Green paint – contrasted against a black bonnet, wheel arches and roof – and a black leather interior. The dashboard panel is also painted to match the car's exterior colour. The optional Trophy Edition accessory pack (£4995) adds a roof rack, exterior panniers, an air-intake snorkel, a roof ladder and mud flaps. Matt-finish paint protection film can also be had as an optional extra. Although the new Defender isn't officially referred to as a Camel Trophy car (almost certainly due to the taboo that has enveloped tobacco firms since the sponsored off-road competition ended in 2000), it embraces the look and spirit of the cars that competed in the annual rally. Indeed, Land Rover said the Trophy Edition is a celebration of its 'rich history of adventure challenges' and that its yellow shade is 'synonymous with Defenders used on international Trophy-style events'. The Trophy Edition will make its public debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which takes place from 10-13 July. Prices start at £ 89,810. This comes after Land Rover Classic built 25 examples of the original Defender inspired by the Camel Trophy, with graphics and modifications closely referencing the expeditions. Revealed in 2021, that model sold out in just three days, despite its sizeable £195,000 price tag. A second run of 25 such models came a year later.
