Anthea Turner 'sobbing on the floor' after nightmare love split

Daily Mirror26-04-2025

TV icon Anthea Turner, now happily engaged to Mark Amrstrong, opens up about the heartache of her 2015 divorce from Grant Bovey, which she admits was one of her darkest moments
TV legend, Anthea Turner has opened up about love, turning 65 and telly, during an exclusive chat with OK!, following a dreamy holiday to Sandals Regency La Toc in Saint Lucia with her fiancé Mark Armstrong, the 64-year-old presenter is visibly glowing as she admits that she and Mark will tie the knot 'at some point'.
She is happier than ever today, but former Blue Peter presenter Anthea, who has been engaged to businessman Mark since 2019 – admits that her 2015 divorce from ex-husband Grant Bovey in 2015 after 15 years of marriage - after, in 2013, Grant was found to be having an affair with interior designer Zoe de Mallet Morgan - was 'definitely' her toughest moment.

"I remember once, I was on the floor sobbing, still in my pyjamas at 3pm. I'll never forget, my mum said to me, 'Right, get in the shower. Have a wash. Wash your hair. Put some make-up on, and then ring me back.' And I did. All of a sudden, it worked and she could have a proper conversation with me", recalls the star.
"And of course, time heals all, and I ended up staying on good terms with both my ex-husbands [Anthea was also married to DJ Peter Powell from 1990 to 1998] and I even wrote a book How To Survive Divorce , which has stood the test of time.."
Of course, Anthea also gained three stepdaughters through her relationship with Grant- and admits they are still very close, as she opens up about the joys of becoming a 'glam-ma' to stepdaughter Claudia's baby Dexter. "It's wonderful. Claudia, my stepdaughter, is the happiest I've ever seen her. She's an amazing mum and it's a joy to watch her with James, her partner. It's really lovely seeing someone you love so happy."
Opening up on her relationship with her new grown-up stepchildren, Anthea reveals fondly: "They've been in my life since they were two, five, and six. When their father, my ex-husband Grant, and I split up, I must admit, I thought, 'Oh gosh...' because you just don't know what will happen when a relationship ends.
"But with the girls and me, nothing changed. Claudia actually lived with me for some time, after flat-sharing with friends. It's a wonderful relationship – especially considering it's not an umbilical cord one. Nobody's forcing us, we're in each other's lives because we truly like each other."

As for finding love again later in life, Anthea admits, she's always known that she'd find someone else. "I'm a Gemini, so I'm always optimistic. I always knew that at some point, I'd meet somebody else. But obviously, you don't know when, who. And it's daunting, if you're in your fifties and all of a sudden, whatever you thought your future was, suddenly disappears.
"It depends what stage in your life things happen. I think the older you get, that natural optimism isn't there in the same way. But for me, I've always had a younger attitude. The elixir of youth isn't in a pot of cream. It's in your attitude."

Katie Price fans 'concerned' as she performs in skimpy outfit after latest procedure

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Katie Price put on a dazzling performance on stage Saturday (June 7) as she wowed fans at Portsmouth Pride. Performing her songs including 'A Whole New World' - her past duet with ex-husband Peter Andre, Katie Price was joined on the bill by stars including Nadine Coyle from Girls Aloud, Sabrina Washington of Mis-Teeq fame, and Ella Morgan – notably linked to Price's beau, JJ Slater from Married At First Sight. Donning a risqué black bodysuit paired with a glittery hat spelling out 'PRICEY', Katie was a showstopper, flaunting her iconic assets and recently plumped up behind after undergoing a filler procedure she broadcasted live on social media in May. Yet as clips from her set made it to TikTok, users of the platform couldn't help but remark on her slender figure. On X, meanwhile, others voicing their concerns, including one person who declared: "I'm worried about Katie Price." While another simply reacted: "Oh dear." And echoing those sentiments, a third X user reflected: "I feel sorry for her, as it doesn't look like she has people around her that have her best interest at heart, by giving her sound advice. It's not funny, it's horrible." It's not the first time social media users have shown concern for the mum-of-five in recent times. In January this year, one tweeted: "Katie Price just popped up on my Instagram and I am so concerned. Maybe she's been like this for a while but is anyone looking out for her? She looks so unwell." It comes after fans admitted they were concerned over Katie's "frailty" earlier this year, after she shared her video of herself in a tracksuit. "Her friends and family are worried about her as she has lost a lot of weight very quickly, and she wants to go back under the knife for more work," a source told OK! at the time. The source elaborated: "She wants to have her ears corrected and her bum lifted with filler, but people who care about her are worried that she's not healthy or strong enough to be going on an operating table." (Image: Paul Jacobs/ Despite such concerns, Katie went through with enhancing her posterior in May. In a candid Snapchat update that same month, Katie addressed her followers about her weight loss - explaining that it had been wholly intentional after a foot injury and IVF attempts had led to weight gain. "Yes, I've lost weight," she confirmed. "Yes, that's what I've wanted to do, I've wanted to lose weight. Because the past three, four years ago when I broke my feet and I was in a wheelchair for 10 months because they said I'd never walk again, and obviously you put weight on being in a wheelchair. "And then I did all the IVF stuff, that also puts on weight. So yeah I did put on weight and I hated it, I felt uncomfortable and it wasn't me." Meanwhile, in a conversation with Olivia Attwood on her So Wrong It's Right podcast last summer, Katie admitted she thought she had body dysmorphia – a mental health disorder characterised by an individual's fixation on perceived defects in their appearance. Katie voiced her intention to have more cosmetic procedures because she'd "never thought she was pretty."
