Who Will Be The Next Google CEO? Sundar Pichai Talks About Succession Plan
Pichai reassured the audience that AI would not take over jobs but rather enhance engineers' productivity by handling repetitive tasks.
At a tech conference in San Francisco, Google CEO Sundar Pichai shed light on the qualities he believes the future leader of the tech giant should possess. While he did not name potential successors or hint at stepping down soon, Pichai emphasized that the next CEO must fully grasp the power and responsibility that comes with leading Google.
During his speech at Bloomberg's Technology Summit, Pichai stressed the importance of ensuring that Google's tools and innovations continue to positively impact people's lives. He highlighted the significant role artificial intelligence will play in shaping Google's operations and mentioned that the future leader would have an 'extraordinary AI companion" to assist them. This remark underlines the deep integration of AI into the company's future.
Pichai also tackled a common concern about AI replacing human jobs. He reassured the audience that AI would not take over jobs but rather enhance engineers' productivity by handling repetitive tasks. 'It's about making people more effective, not replacing them," he stated. He also noted that Google plans to continue hiring more engineers through 2026.
Pichai Sheds Light On His Comeback
In a recent podcast with YouTuber Lex Fridman, Google CEO Sundar Pichai addressed concerns about calls for his resignation amid claims that Google was falling behind in the AI race.
Pichai explained, 'There's a lot to discuss. As CEO, my key strategy has been to ensure the company takes an AI-first approach, aiming to develop AGI responsibly and release products that are highly useful for people. Even during challenging times last year, I was confident in our internal progress. I made several significant decisions, such as integrating the Brain and DeepMind teams and establishing Google DeepMind."

Google launches Pixel 10 Series, Pixel Watch 4 and Pixel Buds 2a in India
Google has launched its new Pixel 10 series in India, along with the Pixel Watch 4 and Pixel Buds 2a. Pixel 10: Affordable Optical Zoom The Pixel 10 starts at ₹79,999 and is the most budget-friendly in the series. Its highlight is the 5X telephoto camera lens, making it one of the cheapest phones in India with real optical zoom. To keep the price lower, Google has used slightly smaller sensors for the wide and ultrawide cameras compared to last year's Pixel 9. But the phone gets upgrades like a brighter 6.3-inch display, better speakers, and the new Tensor G5 chip, which improves picture colours, textures, and autofocus speed. Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL The Pixel 10 Pro (₹1,09,999) and Pixel 10 Pro XL (₹1,24,999) are meant for power users. They come with Pro Res Zoom, an AI-based feature that allows zooming up to 100X. Both also support 8K video recording through Google's Video Boost, which processes footage in the cloud for brighter and more stable results. The Pro XL offers faster 25W Qi2 wireless charging, taking the phone to 70% in just 30 minutes. Pixel 10 Pro Fold The foldable Pixel 10 Pro Fold, priced at ₹1,72,999, is built to last. It has IP68 water resistance and a gearless hinge that makes it stronger while reducing bezels. The inside 8-inch display is designed for multitasking, with split-screen and drag-and-drop options. However, it misses some features like 8K video recording. The Fold will be available from October 9.

Toonsutra launches beta version of ‘Cinematic Mode' for comics
Agencies Representative image Toonsutra, a digital comics app with over one million monthly active users, has launched the beta version of Cinematic Mode, an immersive comic-reading feature that combines animation, music and narration with traditional new mode allows readers to experience comics in a hands-free, auto-scroll format where stories play out with synchronised sound and visuals. The company said the feature is designed to offer a 'lean-back' storytelling experience that sits between comics and short-form video. Built on a multimodal AI framework, Cinematic Mode uses Google's Veo 3 image-to-video technology to animate comic panels, Gemini 2.5 Pro for character speech, and Lyria 2 for dynamic background music. The system adapts animations and audio to the tone of the story and characters in real time. 'We've developed this feature to expand how digital audiences experience comics, while maintaining the integrity of creators' original work,' said Vishal Anand, co-founder and CEO of Toonsutra. Sharad Devarajan, co-founder and executive chairman, said the goal was to create new ways for India's mobile-first youth market to consume short-form stories. The platform currently has partnerships with major global publishers and offers more than 3,300 titles with over 500,000 episodes. Toonsutra said Cinematic Mode will roll out gradually with select titles in collaboration with publishing partners.
