On a recent trip to Rosewood Miramar Beach in Montecito, it was the perfect oceanside attire for a sun-drenched day dining al fresco at the Michelin-starred Caruso's restaurant. I'll also be packing it for multiple walking tours around Europe this summer, swapping out the pants for Gap's matching Cotton Gauze Easy Shorts when temperatures rise on my favorite cobblestone streets in Italy.
Learning which fabrics are conducive to your travel style and outside temperatures can make or break a trip, and cotton gauze is a great option for breathable, easy-to-throw-on options. Below, read on for 14 more of my favorite styles to make the most of this summer-ready fabric.
Another winner from Gap, this flowy, tiered maxi skirt is a summer essential; it's made from a double-cotton fabric that's comfortable, airy, and versatile enough to wear multiple times on any getaway. Tuck your favorite tank into the elasticized waistband for an easy, stylish look you can wear on a sunny walk by the beach or out to dinner.
I used to shy away from jumpsuits as they often felt restrictive, but this voluminous jumpsuit from Quince quickly changed my mind. The breathable, double-knit cotton gauze feels like a second skin, with adjustable straps and wide legs that give you plenty of room to move freely. This one piece is easy to dress up or down with your favorite heels or flats, and best of all, it doesn't require an iron.
Slide on these high-waisted, crinkle gauze pants for an ultimate beach day or walking tour. Relaxed through the hip and thigh, these wide-leg pants hit right above the ankle for an easy fit when it's time to get steps in. Plus, the 100-percent, double-weave cotton feels light on the skin, giving even your best pair of comfy pajama pants a run for its money.
This stylish matching set at Amazon includes a button-down shirt and high-waisted shorts available in over 25 eye-catching colors. It's a summer essential for anyone seeking a quick, cute get-up-and-go look. The elastic waistband ensures comfortable wiggle room around the waistline, and the button-up shirt can double as a versatile top layer to cover your shoulders or worn on its own.
Every wardrobe can benefit from a versatile oversized button-up shirt. This Madewell top offers a crisp, linen-cotton blend with a comfortable fit and a versatile cut that you can pair with your favorite pair of jeans or shorts. When the weather cools at night, this lightweight top layer will offer just enough warmth.
Herald the colors of summer with this dip-dyed, tiered maxi dress from Marine Layer. Made from a soft, textured, double-cloth cotton, it easily slips over the head with a roomy V-neck fit—and it even has side pockets. Also available at Nordstrom, Reformation's Mireille Ruffle Puff Sleeve Dress offers the same summer-ready fabric with festive details like dainty ties and an ultra-soft viscose material.
I love the versatility of this gauze button-up shirt from J. Crew. It has medium-length sleeves that offer some cover, plus a high-low hem that you can tuck into your jeans or wear loosely over your favorite pair of shorts. The oversized fit allows you to layer under it, and I've found it to be a great cover-up for the beach as well.
Speaking of the beach, this versatile cover-up from Garnet Hill offers a stylish, A-line silhouette in the breezy, gauzy crinkle material that adds a little bit of flair to the look. Plus, it has a V-neck and relaxed fit that hangs just above the knee and ensures a flowy fit whether you're at the beach or walking down the pier.
Your perfect, airy summer dress has arrived with Quince's tiered maxi dress. Made from organic cotton gauze, the lightweight material hangs as a flowy tiered bodice. It comes in pretty summer colors, including coral blush, vintage cream, and indigo blue. Pair it with your favorite sandals and jewelry to complete the look.
This classic summer dress from DL 1961 is a favorite in my rotation of gauzy outfits. The loosely woven fabric provides an airy drape, and the detailed gold buttons and ankle-length make for a classic look anywhere you go. The collared neck also makes it the perfect option for a summer Friday look at the office. $66 at Amazon $66 at Anthropologie $70 at Peixotowear.com
Perfect for a beach cover-up or a casual day outfit, the Jesse top from Peixoto offers all the summer vibes for your next great getaway, and I never leave home without it in my bag when I'm headed out on a warm-weather trip. The semi-sheer material promotes great ventilation, and a front tie detail that elevates the look. Pair it with the brand's pull-on style matching Evy pants to complete the outfit.
If you're looking for gauze pants with some flair, consider this black and white striped option from Express. The easy pull-on pants feature roomy pockets, a drawstring waist, and a classic pattern that pairs well with your favorite linen tank or equally breathable cotton T-shirt.
The Maury Dress from Marie Oliver is my favorite crinkled style for summer, particularly when I have a packed travel schedule and little time to think too long about what I want to wear. The slip-on silhouette provides ultimate ease and comfort, and the waistband is designed to sit at your natural waist, giving it a more stylish, fitted look that makes it blend seamlessly from day to night. The periwinkle blue hue gets me excited to spend another summer by the Mediterranean, with water that nearly matches its gorgeous color. $150 $45 at Goldietees.com
Made from a Peruvian pima cotton fabric that feels like silk, this ruffle-sleeve dress from Goldie Lewinter has reignited my love for Goldie Lewinter's incredibly soft, functional pieces. The scoop neckline and double-ruffle sleeves of this dress give a stylish upgrade to any summer wardrobe. The A-line silhouette is a flattering fit that will move with you without getting in the way, and best of all, you can grab it on sale now for 75 percent off.

Where's JD Vance? VP takes eighth vacation in seven months
Vice President JD Vance has been in office since January, and already he's racked up more vacation days than most Americans could dream of in a decade. The man who built his brand railing against 'elites' has basically become one — living like the very people he claimed to stand against. His latest trip? A summer holiday in the Cotswolds, the region of England nicknamed 'the Hamptons of the UK.' Vance rented a sprawling manor that goes for about $10,000 a week. Between his motorcades clogging tiny country roads and the protests that followed him across the pond, it's safe to say his family getaway got more press than privacy. But this isn't an isolated incident. This is vacation No.8 this year. Italy, India, Nantucket, Disneyland, Vermont, Greenland — wherever you can name, he's been. Some of those vacations he even labeled as 'official business,' meaning taxpayers footed the bill. Like in March, when he flew with the second lady to Greenland during the height of Trump's fixation with the territory. The trip was so poorly received by Greenland's government that it was cut it short from a multi-day trip to a three hours' trip. Imagine flying all that way for less time than most people spend at a barbecue. The only thing that came from the trip were some Instagram-ready photos of Vance and his wife in the snow. Then there's Disneyland, which he shut down for his family. Then there's a $2,500 Michelin-starred dinner in San Diego. And who could forget his birthday kayak trip, when the military literally raised the level of an Ohio river just to smooth out his paddling conditions. That's not just elite — that's emperor-level. The bigger question is: how does he have so much time off? Most Americans can't even get two consecutive weeks approved without begging their boss. Yet the sitting vice president has managed to disappear almost every month since taking office. For context, Mike Pence barely took personal trips in his first six months. Kamala Harris didn't take a single personal vacation in hers. Meanwhile, families here at home are being crushed under the weight of rising costs. Groceries, health care, gas — everyday basics are becoming luxuries. And while Americans are forced to 'do more with less,' their vice president seems determined to 'do less with more.' The optics matter. When you're the right-hand man to Donald Trump, the guy who wants to convince working-class America that he's their champion, jet-setting across the globe on lavish retreats doesn't scream solidarity. It screams out-of-touch. So as the bills pile up and medical benefits shrink because of the 'big beautiful bill,' JD Vance may be hard to find. Not in Washington. Not in Ohio. But likely on vacation — again. The message is clear: while everyday Americans are fighting to make ends meet, JD Vance is fighting to make his next reservation.

10 Best Countries in the World to Retire
10. Thailand Some people may want to stay relatively close to the US when they retire, perhaps sticking to similar time zones or prioritizing places with nonstop flights for family visits. But then there are those who really want to get away. Enter Thailand. The Southeast Asian country is by no means an easy hop from home, but therein lies its appeal—well, that along with incredible cities, kind people, and some of the best beaches in the entire world. Bangkok is a lively and frenetic option for retirees wanting to speed up, not slow down, their pace after moving abroad. The city's culinary scene needs hardly any introduction (Michelin-starred street food!), nor does its abundance of museums and temples. Chiang Mai is a nice option for city amenities with slightly more laid-back vibes. But really, you'll feel right at home no matter where you decide to live. Per the Thailand-based editor at International Living, 'Even after 25 years, it still amazes me how I've been accepted here.' Cost of living: You can get a lot for little in Thailand—as low as $1,700 per month overall. Of course, that depends on the type of housing you want. Three-bedroom homes in the suburbs of Chiang Mai start as low as $600 a month, while ultra-luxe condos in Bangkok with pools and 24/7 security jump up to $1,800. But with $12 internet bills and cheap groceries, you'll still be able to pinch pennies without even trying. Healthcare: The quality of Thailand's hospitals rivals (and often exceeds) anything you'll find in North America, and you can often walk in to see specialists without even booking an appointment. Expats don't qualify for public health insurance, so many either pay out of pocket or get private insurance plans for around $400 per month. Visa requirements: Thailand has two long-term visa options: The Non-Immigrant 'O-A' Visa lets you stay in the country for up to one year, with a possible one-year extension; and the Non-Immigrant 'O-X' Visa is good for five years, with a possible five-year extension. For O-A, you must have 800,000 Baht (approximately $24,745) in your bank account, or a monthly income of at least 65,000 Baht ($2,010). For O-X, you'll need 1.8 million Baht ($55,675) in your account and an annual income of 1.2 million Baht ($37,117). Both visas are only available for non-working people aged 50 and over. Dazzling beaches, world-class cities, and $9 healthcare—what's not to love? Originally Appeared on Condé Nast Traveler
