Two Canadian soldiers stabbed during brawl in Alberta, RCMP investigating
RCMP say officers were called Friday to a disturbance at a home in Wainwright, west of the Alberta-Saskatchewan boundary.
They say a 23-year-old man has been charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, as well as possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Armed Forces spokeswoman Lt.-Col. Lena Angell says three junior military members were involved in a brawl with a civilian.
She says the two injured were treated in hospital in Wainwright and one of them was later sent to Edmonton for more specialized care.
Angell adds several other military members saw the fight and the Forces will fully co-operate with the RCMP investigation.
'All CAF members are expected to uphold the highest standards of professionalism; any incident of misconduct (is) thoroughly investigated and addressed through appropriate administrative or disciplinary measures,' Angell said in an emailed statement.
Canadian Forces Base Wainwright is one of the country's busiest army bases.

U.S. man arrested trying to illegally enter Canada by kayak: police
Police in the Ontario town of LaSalle say they arrested a man from the U.S. trying to illegally enter Canada by kayak early Wednesday morning. LaSalle Police Service said an officer encountered the man shortly before 1 a.m. while conducting commercial property checks near the Detroit River. 'While checking the rear of a business, (the officer) saw a man at the water's edge of the Detroit River with two backpacks and a kayak,' a police statement said. 'The officer investigated and discovered the man was attempting to illegally enter Canada.' Police said the 51-year-old man was detained and turned over to the RCMP for further investigation. Search for man who went missing near Wabowden in late June continues
Social Sharing Manitoba RCMP say they're still looking for a man who went missing near Wabowden, Man., over a month ago. Travis Bittern, 40, was last seen on June 27 at 9:45 a.m. walking southbound along Highway 6 about two kilometres south of the community. His family previously said he'd indicated he was heading to Kinosao Sipi Cree Nation (also known as Norway House), which is near the northern tip of Lake Winnipeg. Police said in an update Wednesday they've continued to investigate, but have been unable to locate the 40-year-old. The update said he was wearing a black t-shirt and blue plaid pyjama pants when he went missing, and that he has a tattoo of a feather on his right arm. Bittern is described as being six feet three inches tall and weighing 210 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Police are now asking anyone who was travelling on the highway near Wabowden between 9:00 and 9:45 a.m. the day he went missing to contact RCMP at 204-689-2152 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers online or at 1-800-222-8477.
