HBMSU and Alexandria University Celebrate Graduation of First Batch from Joint Master's Program in Innovation and Change Management
The ceremony was attended by academic leaders from both institutions, including Dr. Mostafa Mahmoud Nour El-Din, Vice Chancellor for International Cooperation; Dr. Ahmed Ankit, Acting Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs; and Dr. Fahad Mohammed Rashid Al Saadi, Vice Chancellor for Learner Development. From Alexandria University, attendees included Prof. Dr. Hisham Saeed, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research; Dr. Sameh Shehata, Supervisor of the International Relations Office; and Dr. Bushra Salem, Deputy Supervisor of the Office.
In his welcoming remarks, Prof. Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa expressed his pride in the fruitful collaboration with HBMSU, praising the efforts of both parties in launching this specialized program aimed at preparing future leaders capable of navigating global transformations and national strategies. He highlighted the importance of the program's educational model, which combines traditional learning with smart e-learning, and noted that this initiative marks the beginning of a promising academic partnership that will enrich graduate programs and strengthen academic presence in advanced education fields.
For his part, Prof. Dr. Mansoor Al Awar expressed his joy at the graduation of the first cohort of this joint program, describing it as the result of cooperation between two leading Arab universities. He emphasized the shared commitment to graduating change leaders and entrepreneurs equipped with the skills to shape the future. He noted that the program represents a unique model in Arab higher education, delivered through a hybrid learning approach that combines synchronous and asynchronous education, offering learners a flexible and in-depth academic experience.
Dr. Al Awar added that the partnership with Alexandria University—one of Egypt's most prestigious institutions—offers significant added value and reflects HBMSU's vision of building strategic partnerships to support the future of education in the region. He also expressed hope to expand the collaboration to include new programs across various fields, enhance research activities, promote knowledge exchange, and offer training programs aligned with Egypt's Vision 2030.
Graduates of the program expressed their pride in obtaining this distinguished degree, confirming that the program enriched their knowledge and broadened their thinking through innovative teaching methods. It is worth noting that the 'Master of Science in Innovation and Change Management' program was launched in the academic year 2020–2021 under the hybrid learning model. It targets graduate students who aim to gain advanced skills in leading change, applying innovation strategies, and addressing transformation challenges in various work environments by developing creative thinking tools and building a flexible organizational culture responsive to future shifts.

Maspero revives scientific broadcasting in honour of Nobel Laureate Ahmed Zewail - Society
To mark the ninth anniversary of Nobel Laureate Ahmed Zewail's passing, the National Media Authority (NMA) has officially named Studio 45 at Egyptian Radio in his honour. Writer, media expert, and NMA president Ahmed El-Meslemani made the announcement during a press briefing that outlined broader efforts to revive scientific journalism in Egypt. 'Scientific journalism in our region has suffered significant setbacks,' El-Meslemani said. 'We are now actively studying pathways for its revival. Naming a historic studio after Dr Zewail is both a symbolic and strategic act — honouring our scientific pioneers and inspiring future generations.' As part of this new direction, Egyptian Television has launched a programme titled Kalam fi El-Elm (Talks in Science), hosted by Dr Sameh Saad Ali, a prominent biophysicist and founding director of the Center for Aging Studies at Zewail City of Science and Technology. Ali also leads the Cancer Biology Programme at Egypt's 57357 Children's Cancer Hospital and is a recipient of the 2020 State Award for Excellence in Science. It is the first in a planned series of specialised shows aimed at popularising science and deepening public understanding. El-Meslemani emphasized that this marks the beginning of a comprehensive national effort to bring science closer to society, especially younger audiences. Dr Zewail, who was awarded the 1999 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his groundbreaking work in femtochemistry, was a familiar figure in Egyptian media. El-Meslemani recalled that Egyptian Radio played a key role in introducing Zewail to the Arab public, particularly through legendary broadcaster Amal Fahmy. Her programme, Ala El-Nasseya (At the Corner), helped make his research accessible to a broader audience. 'I was honoured to join Amal Fahmy on several occasions to discuss Dr. Zewail's work and its global significance,' El-Meslemani said. He also acknowledged the broader contributions of radio professionals in showcasing Zewail's achievements, noting that the late scientist remained a devoted listener of Egyptian Radio during his visits to Cairo. 'In naming Studio 45 after one of the Arab world's greatest scientists since Ibn al-Haytham, we are, in essence, honouring ourselves,' he added. El-Meslemani also announced that the Maspero Center for Media Studies, in collaboration with the Cultural Channel and the Cultural Radio Programme, will host a national symposium titled The Present and Future of Scientific Media in Egypt. The event forms part of a larger initiative led by the NMA to simplify complex scientific knowledge, engage Generations Z and Alpha with science-based content, and broaden public access to reliable, non-specialist scientific media. MBRF and UNDP to organise 4th edition of Youth Knowledge Forum in Egypt - Middle East Business News and Information
The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will jointly organize the fourth edition of the 'Youth Knowledge Forum' (YKF) under the theme 'Knowledge Economy and Human Development' in the Arab Republic of Egypt. The event will be held in partnership with the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS) in Cairo from 20 to 21 July 2025. YKF will be organized as part of ongoing strategic collaborations aimed at fostering innovation and enhancing the role of youth in advancing knowledge-based development, while empowering them to become key drivers of sustainable development. YKF is a leading intellectual platform that convenes the youth and key decision-makers from various sectors to exchange vital insights and explore solutions to mitigate prevalent challenges. Its primary aim is to devise innovative solutions, which can help bolster the knowledge economy, support entrepreneurship, equip youth with future-ready skills, and reinforce regional and international cooperation among stakeholders invested in youth empowerment. Dubai Government Human Resources Department continues receiving entries for inaugural Research Awards 2025 with wide participation
The Dubai Government Human Resources Department (DGHR) continues to receive submissions for the inaugural edition of the Research Awards 2025, launched in February 2025. The initiative highlights DGHR's strategic vision to support scientific research and invest in human capital to enhance Dubai's government workplace with research insights and practical ideas that increase employees' quality of life and align with future transformations in human resources management. Currently, the department has received 20 research papers from 13 government entities. Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU) has contributed five entries, followed by DGHR with three. Other contributors include Dubai Health Authority, Digital Dubai Authority, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Mohammed Bin Rashid Library, among others. H.E. Abdulla Ali Bin Zayed Al Falasi, Director General of DGHR Department, said, 'The submissions we received are a testament to the spirit of collaboration and integration between government and academic institutions to empower the government work system. This has been possible through leveraging scientific research as a strategic tool to promote innovation and improve performance. At DGHR, we believe the awards serve as a vital platform for converting knowledge into relevant policies and practices that promote employee well-being and sustain institutional excellence. We welcome all government entities to utilise this opportunity by submitting scientific research that supports Dubai's objective of creating a world-leading government based on competence, knowledge and renewal.' The research papers highlight various key themes linked to improving the government work system, such as the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in strengthening performance systems for government employees, high-performance work systems in human resources management, employee relations and their quality of life, modern working patterns, enhancing employee performance and well-being, institutional culture and their impacts; disguised disciplinary penalties in the context of AI and the development of HR systems and policies in Dubai. The department announced that the research papers received are currently undergoing a screening process to ensure compliance with submission criteria. Furthermore, all submissions will be assessed during August and September by an academic committee formed by partner universities, including Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences, Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government (MBRSG), Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU) and Rochester Institute of Technology – Dubai. The finalists will be declared in the final phase. The department further stated that the final date for the submission is August 8, 2025. Meanwhile, DGHR is launching a second awareness workshop in July 2025. The session will update participants with the latest developments of the awards and new improvements made on the official website, such as a dedicated page for research submissions titled 'Dubai Government HR Department Research Awards.' The initial awareness workshop was conducted in May 2025, which witnessed active participation of more than 350 attendees. DGHR welcomes all Dubai Government entities to continue submitting scientific research under the award's research areas. The initiative seeks to strengthen the field of scientific research, promote scientific research and create HR systems and policies in Dubai, in line with government directives to invest in knowledge and embrace best institutional practices.
