Ministry launches online booking for slaughterhouses on eve of Eid Al-Adha

RIYADH — The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture announced the launch of an online appointment booking service for slaughterhouses across Saudi Arabia effective from Wednesday, Dhul Hijjah 1, on the occasion of the forthcoming Eid Al-Adha celebrations.
The ministry stated that the service aims to save time for beneficiaries, as well as to enhance occupational safety and health, improve the quality of services provided, and regulate the work of slaughterhouses.
According to the ministry, the service enables beneficiaries, whether individuals, butcher shop owners, companies, or catering contractors, to save time and effort by allowing them to pre-book by choosing the appropriate day and time to attend the slaughter of various types of livestock without experiencing overcrowding and long waits at the slaughterhouse.

The ministry also called for the judicial confiscation of vehicles used in the unauthorized transport of pilgrims and the imposition of a fine of up to SR20,000 on those, who attempted to perform Hajj without a permit. The ministry urged all citizens and residents to comply with Hajj regulations to ensure the safety of pilgrims.

Saudi Gazette report MINA — In a rare and coincidental alignment, this year's public service camps, organized by the Saudi Arabian Scouts Association for Hajj 2025, have brought together three pairs of Saudi twins. Hailing from the scout group of the civil development association in Riyadh's Al-Rabie neighborhood, these six young men are collectively dedicated to serving pilgrims. The twins—Hussam and Issam Saeed Al-Qarni, Azzam and Ammar Suleiman Al-Sulaiman, and Walid and Muhannad Abdul-Hakim Al-Otaibi—are bound not only by family ties and similar appearances, but also by a genuine passion for scouting and active engagement in the noble cause of volunteer work and pilgrim service. Al-Qarni twins stated that scouting was not just a passing activity, but a life path chosen with conviction from a young age. They emphasized they were raised to love their country, and scouting has allowed them to translate this into tangible service by guiding pilgrims, providing first aid, and offering various forms of assistance. They stressed that every moment during the pilgrimages is a new lesson in patience, compassion, and discipline. Al-Sulaiman twins noted this experience has deepened their relationship, adding with pride: "We thought we knew each other well, but in the atmosphere of the pilgrimages and under the pressure of tasks, we discovered new dimensions of cooperation and interdependence. We work as a team, complementing each other, and everything we do is for the comfort of the pilgrim, whom we consider our guests, and it is our duty to provide them with the utmost comfort." Al-Otaibi twins expressed their profound pride in their participation, describing it as a life-changing experience. "Today, we are not only serving, but also learning how to stand calmly in the midst of a crowd, how to take the initiative without expecting thanks, and how scouting can be a comprehensive educational field," they said. "Being here together, two brothers and twins, experiencing the same thing and sharing every detail is something we will carry with us for the rest of our lives."

Hospitals and health teams gear up to tackle heat stress cases at holy sites
Saudi Gazette report MAKKAH — The Health Affairs Department at the Ministry of National Guard has allocated an integrated center to address heat stress cases in Arafat as part of its health plan for this year's Hajj season. The center, with a capacity of 20 beds, is fully equipped to quickly respond to cases of heat strokes and heat-related stress. The ministry also equipped its Mina hospital with a capacity of 26 beds, including emergency units, inpatient beds, cardiopulmonary resuscitation rooms, isolation rooms for infectious diseases, and specialized units for the immediate treatment of heat stress cases. The department has made available 10 state-of-the-art ambulances to handle emergency cases and transport them when needed. These ambulances are staffed around the clock by medical and nursing teams specialized in critical specialties, including emergency, critical care, internal medicine, preventive medicine, and epidemiology. Through this plan, the Health Affairs Department at the Ministry of National Guard seeks to ensure comprehensive and effective medical care for pilgrims. These services include preventive and curative care, infection control, water and food safety monitoring, and awareness and vaccination campaigns, which started before the start of the Hajj pilgrimage. The Ministry of Health has given top priority for the prevention of heat-related illnesses. It urged pilgrims to use umbrellas, drink water regularly, even if they are not thirsty, and wear light-colored, lightweight clothing. Symptoms of heat stress include headache, dizziness, excessive sweating, thirst, and nausea. Upon noticing these, pilgrims should immediately move to a shaded area, cool down with water, and drink plenty of fluids. Pilgrims are advised to avoid direct sun exposure between 10 am and 4 pm, refrain from walking on hot surfaces, and exercise caution when engaging in strenuous activities, such as climbing mountains, on the Day of Arafat, which can increase the risk of heat stress. The ministry affirmed that the health sector is highly prepared, with over 34 equipped field health units strategically distributed across the holy sites. These units provide urgent medical care and rapid response for heat stress cases, enhancing pilgrim safety. The ministry has also launched a health awareness kit, available in eight languages, offering comprehensive healt h guidelines.
