Authorities fear she may have fallen from a bridge between Budhni and Narmadapuram on Aug 7 night. The woman, a resident of Katni, had boarded coach B3 in Indore to visit her family for "Raksha Bandhan".
When the train reached Katni, she was not on board. Her phone was switched off, and a missing person report was lodged with Katni GRP.
Railway police said she was last seen by passengers at Bhopal railway station, and her phone's last location was also traced there.
CCTV footage from multiple stations failed to yield any clue.
A passenger seated below her berth told police that around 11.30 pm, she climbed down, brushed against his leg, apologised, and walked towards the toilet. She never returned. The family believes this was when the train was passing over the Narmada bridge.
On Sunday, the woman's relatives reached Narmadapuram from Katni as the State Disaster Emergency Response Force began a river search at 11 am. Searches were on till filing of this report.

BHOPAL: At least five lives were claimed in separate rain-related incidents across Madhya Pradesh as rains have once again begun intensifying after a short-lived lull. One youth drowned in the river Narmada in Khandwa district, and another in a canal in Bhopal in the last 24 hours. After nearly 27 hours, multiple teams of divers and local residents found his body trapped in the deep waters at the same Ghat where he had drowned. In Bhopal, 27-year-old software engineer Krishna Singh reportedly died while bathing with friends in the Kajlikheda canal of Kolar area on Sunday evening. His body was recovered by rescue teams late on Sunday night. Currently working with a company in Nagpur, Singh couldn't come home for Raksha Bandhan, but as promised to his sister, he arrived in the MP capital for delayed Raksha Bandhan celebrations on August 15. He was scheduled to return to Nagpur on Monday, but the killer mishap claimed his life too soon. In Indore, on Monday afternoon, an under-construction wall collapsed amid heavy rains in Bijalpur (Rau) area, reportedly burying three labourers alive. The three deceased labourers, all hailing from Indore district, have been identified as Rameshwar (55), Gautam Rathore (25) and Titu (20). Another labourer identified as Sohan was injured in the same mishap.

Maharashtra's 'MARVEL': Police Solve Hit-And-Run Case Within 36 Hours Using AI
Last Updated: Authorities highlighted that while reviewing 12 hours of footage manually could take days, AI-powered MARVEL completed the analysis in as little as 12–15 minutes. In a remarkable example of tech-aided policing, the Maharashtra Police employed artificial intelligence to solve a horrific hit-and-run case in Nagpur within just 36 hours. The incident occurred on August 9 (Raksha Bandhan), when a speeding truck struck a motorcycle, fatally injuring the pillion rider. In a distressing turn, the husband tied his wife's body to his bike and attempted to take her home, a moment captured in a video that quickly went viral. The only clue available to investigators was that the truck bore red markings and nothing else — no make, model, or distinguishing features. Harssh Poddar, Superintendent of Police (Nagpur Rural), told NDTV that the victim provided 'very minimal information." Faced with such scant detail, the police turned to MARVEL (Maharashtra Research and Vigilance for Enhanced Law Enforcement), the state's first AI-powered law enforcement tool. According to NDTV, the team analysed hours of CCTV footage from three toll nakas within 15–20 km of the crash site using two separate computer vision algorithms. The first algorithm filtered trucks with red markings; the second detected anomalies in average speed — signaling potential involvement. Within minutes, they pinpointed the suspicious vehicle, which led them to track and arrest the driver 700 km away on the Gwalior–Kanpur highway. The tool — developed collaboratively by the Maharashtra government, IIM Nagpur, and Pinaca Technologies — underscores the potential of data-driven policing. It is intended to aid in missing-person cases, fatal accidents, vehicle thefts, organized crime, and cyber fraud — not just reactive investigations but also predictive interventions. Recent Similar AI-Aided Police Successes In Kerala, AI helped crack a 19-year-old triple murder case. Police used digitally aged photographs of the suspects, matched them against social media, and made arrests in early 2025. In February 2006, a horrific crime in Anchal, Kerala, saw Ranjini and her 17-day-old twin daughters brutally murdered. The prime suspects, Army personnel Divil Kumar and Rajesh, fled and vanished for 19 years. In January 2025, Kerala Police used AI to digitally age their old photos, matching them with social media images, including a wedding picture. This breakthrough led to their arrest in Puducherry, where they lived under false identities. Jewellery, Rs5L cash stolen from house
Lucknow: Two thieves stole jewellery worth several lakh and Rs 5 lakh in cash by breaking the lock of a closed house in the Pink City under Jankipuram Vistar police station area. The FIR was registered on Saturday. As per reports, the house owner, Rakesh Sharma, works in a private company in West Bengal, and his parents live at this house. While his parents had gone to the village, Sharma's tenant, Narayan, also went to the village for Rakshabandhan, leaving the house locked. When the tenant Narayan returned on Aug 12, he discovered the theft. Narayan informed the landlord, Rakesh, and the police about the incident. In CCTV footage, two thieves are seen entering the house. While entering, the miscreants switched off the street light outside and switched it on while leaving the house, said SHO Jankipuram, Vinod Kumar Tiwari.
