Presenter Danny Campbell to run 10k race in Crocs in memory of brother
His younger brother Duncan died in 2024 after a long battle with cancer. Before his death, Duncan Campbell spoke about his mental health in a book called The Suicide Notes and at an Edinburgh Fringe show of the same name. Danny Campbell said the race will be deeply personal, and funds raised will go to the Mental Health Foundation. He said: 'There were days where I was really overwhelmed, anxious, and felt like I was failing at everything – being a dad, running a business, keeping it together. Danny Campbell will take on the 10k in his Crocs (Image: HOKO Design/PA) 'My brother was honest about his own struggles, and that has been an inspiration and, in many ways, it's changed my life. 'Running in Crocs might sound daft, but it's about showing up exactly as you are and marching to the beat of your own drum. That's what he taught me.' Known for their signature aesthetic rather than as running shoes, the Crocs are likely to make the 10k even harder for Campbell. The 34-year-old, who founded Glasgow-based HOKO Design in 2019, has become well-known in Scotland through his architectural work, as well as for his TV presenting. Behind the scenes however, he has had to face the loss of his brother, while growing a business and raising his three young sons. READ MORE: The presenter said: 'When Duncan died, everything changed. He was so young. He was kind, funny, and smart. He was always the first to ask how I was doing. 'If Duncan had decided to end his life, we would have lost those final special years together. I'm grateful we had that time. 'I believe we had that time because he opened up. Hopefully by running a very slow 10k in squishy shoes, I can encourage others to share their problems with those close to them.' Danny Campbell hopes he will help break down stigma around mental health (Image: HOKO Design/PA) The Glasgow Men's 10k starts at the Riverside Museum and finishes at Glasgow Green, and is designed to get men of all ages moving and talking – with a focus on mental health. Campbell added: 'I read all the comments online about my Crocs, and I think it's a great indicator of why people don't open up. 'I find the online abuse quite funny, but if you take a step back, it shows that if you do anything remotely different from the norm, people want to knock you down. 'We lose too many good people because they don't feel they can talk. If doing something a bit silly gets even one person to open up, that's a win. 'An event like this is brilliant because it brings men together and will hopefully help remove the stigma around mental health. Maybe it'll remove the stigma around wearing Crocs too.' Julie Cameron, associate director for Scotland at the Mental Health Foundation, said: 'We're incredibly grateful to Danny for taking on this challenge, raising both awareness and vital funds for the Mental Health Foundation. 'His message encouraging people, especially men, to talk about their struggles and seek support is more important than ever. 'While awareness has grown, stigma still holds many back from opening up about their struggles. 'Normalising conversations around mental health is crucial, and if an architect running a 10k in Crocs sparks those discussions, that's a win.'

Rose West welcomes granddaughter after paedophile son has baby with former model
Serial killer Rose West has become a grandmother again after her paedophile son Stephen, 51, and his fiancée Emma Bradley, 39, welcomed a baby girl named Eden. Rose West has welcomed another grandchild into the world after her son fathered a child with an ex-glamour model. Stephen West and his betrothed Emma Bradley are now parents to little Eden, yet 71 year old Rose, behind bars serving a whole life term, will never meet her newest grandchild due to Stephen severing all contact with his notorious mother. Despite the trepidation of Emma's kin over their romance, given Stephen's past conviction in 2004 for underage sex offences, the couple forged ahead. The 51 year old who once lived in the gruesome family home confessed: "There's a bit of my dad in me." His infamous father, Fred West, committed a series of murders with Rose between 1967 and 1987 in Gloucestershire. In 1995, Fred was discovered deceased in his cell. Nearly three decades into her incarceration, Rose has reportedly ceased efforts to contest her judgment since 2001 and seems to accept her fate in prison. Now, insiders relay to The Sun that Stephen and Emma plan to exchange vows come August at Newport's Celtic Manor hotel, reports the Mirror. Despite this happy occasion, it is understood from a source that Emma's family remains unsupportive of the match, discomforted by Stephen and citing "a rift" created in the family. Emma, a trained nurse stationed at Gloucester Royal Hospital, brings two daughters from a former relationship into the fold. Following unsettling reports indicating that Rose may be struggling with her health and has been transferred to a disabled room in prison "because she can barely walk," Emma disclosed that she and her partner were oblivious as they maintain no contact. Acknowledging that they've watched the new Netflix documentary Fred and Rose West: A British Horror Story, Emma revealed that her fiancé Stephen "doesn't want to say anything because his main priority is the little ones." She elaborated: "He is adamant, at this time of his life he's got a young family to protect." Stephen, himself a grandfather, has eight children from two previous marriages. As for Rose's experiences behind bars, an insider divulged to The Sun: "She never really leaves the wing she's held on and is escorted all the time by prison officers if she goes anywhere. Sometimes she sits in the communal areas on her own. "No one talks to her because everyone knows who she is and what she did, even if she has changed her name. When I was there, she tried to make friends with the other women and gave them gifts, like vapes, but she was rejected. She likes to watch nature documentaries on the TV in her cell, especially ones about birds." In an effort to distance herself from her heinous acts, it's purported that West shelled out £36 to officially adopt the name Jennifer Jones. Reports suggest she went through the deed poll process last December, expressing to acquaintances that it represents a step towards moving forward. Nonetheless, her true identity remains common knowledge at the all-female HMP New Hall near Wakefield in West Yorkshire. Some prisoners reject her overtures of companionship, leading her to consume tomato soup solitarily in her cell for breakfast, followed by prolonged periods of knitting and conversing with the television due to her limited mobility. West is currently detained in New Hall's designated section called Rivendell House, where she occupies one of the 30 en-suite cells available to inmates, each furnished with a laptop for ordering food. Inspection reports suggest that the shared spaces in this unit are "more inviting" compared to other areas within the prison.

His childhood friend Matt opted for a white button-down short-sleeved shirt, grey pants and white sneakers for his outing. Damon grew out the grey beard to portray Odysseus in director Christopher Nolan's highly-anticipated adaptation of Homer's The Odyssey. Filming started in late February on the film, which also stars, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson and Charlize Theron, though it's unclear if filming has yet to wrap. When they took the stage, Affleck joked, 'I trusted Matt would shave the beard before Tudum. And here we are.' They introduced co-stars Teyana Taylor, Steven Yeun, and Catalina Sandino Moreno. Affleck and Damon portray Miami cops whose team's trust begins to fray upon discovering millions in cash in a derelict stash house in Joe Carnahan's crime drama premiering January 16 on Netflix. 'The Rip came out of a deeply personal experience that my friend went through, both as a father and as head of tactical narcotics for the Miami Dade police department,' Carnahan told Tudum last Saturday. 'It's inspired in part by his life and then, by my enduring love for those classic seventies cop thrillers that really valued the character and interpersonal relationships and became touchstones of that era — films like Serpico and Prince of the City and more recently, Michael Mann's Heat.' Sasha Calle, Néstor Carbonell, Lina Esco, Scott Adkins, and Kyle Chandler will also appear in The Rip. The Boston besties co-produced Bill Condon's $30M-budget remake of West End musical Kiss of the Spider Woman, starring Ben's second ex-wife Jennifer Lopez, which hits US theaters October 10. Principal photography officially began February 25 on the IMAX flick, and filming is also expected to take place in Italy, Greece, Morocco, Scotland, Ireland, and the United Kingdom.
