Trump Is Giving Nvidia a Middle East Boost. How Should You Play NVDA Stock Here?

Globe and Mail14-05-2025

Nvidia (NVDA) shares are inching further up on Wednesday after the chipmaker signed a multi-year AI infrastructure deal with Humain – a new startup launched by the Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund.
Over the next five years, the said duo will build AI factories powered by hundreds of thousands of NVDA's most advanced chips to establish the Kingdom as a global leader in artificial intelligence, as per their joint press release.
Following today's gain, Nvidia stock is up nearly 45% versus its low on April 4.
What the Humain Deal Means for Nvidia Stock
NVDA shares are rallying on the Humain deal this morning as it reinforces the giant's leadership in artificial intelligence hardware.
Investors are rewarding the AI darling also because recent reports indicate the White House could soon announce a deal that would enable Nvidia to sell its advanced chips in large volumes to the United Arab Emirates as well.
These government-backed agreements are significant for NVDA investors as they will likely help the company sustain its revenue growth in the years ahead.
Note that the Nvidia-Humain transaction is part of the $600 billion that President Donald Trump secured in investments for U.S. companies during his recent visit to the Saudi Arabia.
Citi Analyst Reiterates Bullish View on NVDA
The Humain deal made Citi analyst Atif Malik reiterate his 'Buy' rating on Nvidia stock today.
In his research note, he dubbed NVDA's team up with the Saudi venture 'a good start to what'll likely be a new country-to-country negotiation approach by the US government.'
Malik currently has a $150 price target on the AI stock that signals potential for another 11% upside from current levels.
Citi's bullish note arrives a couple weeks before Nvidia is scheduled to report its financial results for the first quarter. Consensus is for the Nasdaq-listed firm to earn $0.83 a share in Q1 – sharply higher than $0.58 per share it earned in the same quarter last year.
Wall Street Remains a Fan of Nvidia in 2025
Interestingly, Citi is among the more cautious firms on Nvidia shares at writing.
The consensus rating on NVDA currently sits at ' Strong Buy ' with a mean target of an even higher $166 indicating potential upside of close to 25% from here.

Why Nvidia-Backed Navitas Semiconductor Soared Today

Shares of Navitas Semiconductor (NASDAQ: NVTS) surged higher on Tuesday, finishing the day up 11%. The gain came as the S&P 500 (SNPINDEX: ^GSPC) and the Nasdaq Composite (NASDAQINDEX: ^IXIC) were both up 0.6%. Positive news from ongoing trade talks between the U.S. and China is helping boost the company's stock as it continues its massive run-up following the revelation of its partnership with Nvidia. U.S. and China trade talks continue U.S. and Chinese officials are in London attempting to reach a more permanent resolution to the trade war that was put on pause last month. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said on Tuesday that the discussions were "going well" and that the representatives were "spending lots of time together" attempting to reach a deal. A permanent reduction of the massive tariffs both countries imposed on each other in recent months would be great news for the entire economy, but semiconductor companies could benefit specifically, depending on the details. A critical partner Navitas announced last month that Nvidia had selected the company to help power its next-generation artificial intelligence (AI) data center systems, including the much-anticipated Rubin chips that will eventually succeed the current industry-leading Blackwell chips. Navitas, which specializes in gallium nitride (GaN) and silicon carbide (SiC) technologies, will help Nvidia solve key scaling issues with its power supply for the incredibly powerful AI-fueled chips. I think Navitas stock is worth owning; the seal of approval from Nvidia is huge. The company's balance sheet is solid, with minimal debt. Should you invest $1,000 in Navitas Semiconductor right now? Why Palantir Stock Soared in May

Shares of Palantir Technologies (NASDAQ: PLTR) were up in May. The company's stock finished the month up 11.3%. The move came as the S&P 500 (SNPINDEX: ^GSPC) was up 5.5% and the Nasdaq Composite (NASDAQINDEX: ^IXIC) was up 7.9% during the month. The artificial intelligence (AI)-powered data analytics company released mostly positive earnings and announced several key new partnerships, and CEO Alex Karp accompanied President Trump on a trip to Saudi Arabia. Where to invest $1,000 right now? Our analyst team just revealed what they believe are the 10 best stocks to buy right now. Continue » A mostly positive quarter Palantir reported Q1 earnings per share (EPS) of $0.13 on sales of $884 million. That revenue figure was up 39% year over year (YOY), beating Wall Street expectations. There was some cause for concern, however, as global sales declined 10% YOY. Karp goes to Saudi Arabia Given this international weakness, the timing of Karp's trip to Saudi Arabia could not have been better. Karp, along with other high-profile CEOs, accompanied President Trump on a trip to the Middle Eastern country. The trip ended with Trump announcing that Saudi Arabia had committed to $600 billion in investments and, although specifics were light, some of this is likely to flow into Palantir's coffers. New partnerships Palantir announced new partnerships with xAI, the Joint Commission, and the manufacturer Fedrigoni. The partnerships will all leverage the company's unique capabilities to boost efficiency, maximize profits, and reshape outdated business practices. The wide range of distinct organizations and problems shows the incredible adaptability of Palantir's technology. Beware the valuation This is nothing new for investors who have followed the company at all, but the fact is that Palantir stock is incredibly expensive. The company's price-to-earnings ratio (P/E) currently sits north of 570. Its price-to-sales ratio (P/S) is 105. These are astronomical numbers. Consider this: When Nvidia was seeing peak growth in 2024 -- growth that far outstrips what Palantir is delivering today -- the chipmaker's P/E and P/S were both roughly half that of Palantir's. And when Cisco was at its peak in 2000, before it became the face of the dot-com crash, it too only reached roughly half the valuation that Palantir now carries. I do not believe Palantir can justify this valuation, and it is a matter of time before the stock comes back to Earth. Although it's clear that the company offers an extremely valuable product, I think it's fair to classify it as a meme stock at this point: Too much of its value is driven by pure hype.
