Counseling held for rowdy-sheeters, criminals
Nandyal: In a district-wide initiative to maintain law and order, police officials across Nandyal district conducted counseling sessions for rowdy-sheeters and individuals with criminal records on Sunday. The drive was held under the instructions of Nandyal District Superintendent of Police, Adhiraj Singh Rana.
As part of the programme, individuals listed in police history sheets were summoned to their respective police stations, where officials counseled them to abandon criminal activities and lead responsible lives. Police authorities stressed that surveillance is being maintained over their current lifestyle, activities, and behavior. Speaking on the occasion, police officers warned that those who revert to criminal behavior or engage in unlawful acts will face binding-over proceedings along with stringent legal action.
'We urge you to renounce crime, become good citizens, and live as role models for your children and society,' officials told the attendees.
Police further informed that updated photographs of all listed individuals are being recorded and incorporated into their history sheets. Their details and photographs will also be uploaded into the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS) database to strengthen monitoring efforts.
Authorities issued a clear warning that anyone found violating the law again will not be spared and strict action will be taken as per legal provisions.

Delhi Police rolls out e-Zero FIR protocol for cyber frauds
Ten days after Union home minister Amit Shah announced the launch of an e-Zero FIR initiative to expedite action against cybercrime, Delhi Police commissioner Sanjay Arora issued a formal order detailing the protocol to be followed by field officers. The initiative, launched as a pilot in Delhi on May 17, aims to fast-track investigations, improve fund recovery, and crack down on cyber fraud. Shah had said in a May 19 post on X that financial cyber complaints lodged on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP) or via helpline 1930 would automatically be converted into FIRs — initially for frauds above ₹10 lakh. The system will later be expanded nationwide. In an order dated May 29, Arora instructed that investigations must begin without waiting for the complainant's signature. Officers are required to issue notices asking the complainant to sign the FIR at the local cyber police station within 72 hours. The initiative integrates the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre's (I4C) NCRP system, Delhi Police's e-FIR platform, and the National Crime Records Bureau's (NCRB) Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System (CCTNS), the order said. Once an e-Zero FIR is registered at the cyber crime branch police station, it will be transferred to the concerned territorial cyber police station. Investigative steps — such as freezing bank accounts, obtaining call detail records, and collecting CCTV footage — must begin immediately. 'Ensure the complainant is contacted without delay and requested to sign the printed copy of the FIR within 72 hours,' Arora's directive stated. If the complainant fails to appear, a formal notice must be issued stating that the case will proceed in accordance with Section 173 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), which lays out the procedure for recording cognisable offences. An official aware of the process added that if the FIR remains unsigned after 30 days, it is liable to be withdrawn. The order also clarified the delegation of cases based on the value of fraud: complaints involving over ₹50 lakh will be handled by the DCP (Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations); those between ₹25 lakh and ₹50 lakh will be transferred to the DCP (Crime); and cases between ₹10 lakh and ₹25 lakh will be dealt with by the SHO of the cyber police station concerned. The commissioner emphasised that cyber police stations in each district must be made fully functional, with clearly defined responsibilities.

Increase vigil against illegal cow transportation: Nandyal SP
Superintendent of Police Adhiraj Singh Rana has directed the police to be vigilant against illegal transportation of cows ahead of the Bakrid festival. Mr. Rana asked the officials of the four sub-divisions in the district police jurisdiction to set up check posts and take up round-the-clock and thorough checks of vehicles to curb illegal transportation of cows. He also directed them to take steps to stop slaughter of cow at places of worship and keep a vigil. He asked police officials to form peace committees at all police station jurisdictions and ensure that the festival passes off peacefully.

Maharashtra: Online tenant verification in all police stations by month-end
PUNE : Tenants across the state will soon be spared the hassle of visiting police stations for verification when they rent accommodations once the registration department integrates its data with the police network covering all 1,203 police stations by June-end, registration department officials told TOI on Monday. A senior registration department official said, "Technical glitches and software updates have been resolved. The rollout of the new updated software for e-registration of leave and licence for tenants, along with the online tenant verification system, will be in place by June-end." DIG IT Abhaysinh Mohite explained that the upgraded Leave and Licence 2.0 software will be fully integrated with the police CCTNS network. "This will save citizens from physically visiting police stations. We are rolling out the system in phases across the entire state," he said. The department will send tenant information data to the CCTNS system for those who register the leave and licence process through the IGR application. However, those continuing to register on traditional stamp papers—prevalent in rural areas—will still need to visit police stations. "This is currently an issue and landlords should insist on registering on the portal rather than doing it on stamp paper," the official said. This development follows the recent mandates by additional collectors requiring property owners, especially in the rural areas, to submit comprehensive tenant details, including names, addresses, photographs, and references, at local police stations The urgency for streamlined processes was highlighted recently when Mumbai police filed FIRs against property owners in Kurla and Dadar for failing to upload tenant details on the police website, under Section 223 of BNS, which carries up to one year imprisonment. Sachin Shinghavi, Pune president of Association of Real Estate Agents, said the move is a "long-pending demand." He said that the system encourages proper document registration instead of relying on affidavits, creating a win-win situation for citizens, registration, and police departments. "However, they should ensure that there are no glitches and tenants are not made to wait for days before they can download the online registered document," he added. A registration official noted that the new system exemplifies inter-departmental cooperation for citizen safety and efficient data sharing. Over five years, total registered documents reached nearly 50 lakh, demonstrating the scale of the digital transformation. "The system is good and hopefully the delayed rollout will finally be implemented from next month," Meena N, a tenant who will renew her registration next month, said.
