Increase vigil against illegal cow transportation: Nandyal SP

Superintendent of Police Adhiraj Singh Rana has directed the police to be vigilant against illegal transportation of cows ahead of the Bakrid festival. Mr. Rana asked the officials of the four sub-divisions in the district police jurisdiction to set up check posts and take up round-the-clock and thorough checks of vehicles to curb illegal transportation of cows. He also directed them to take steps to stop slaughter of cow at places of worship and keep a vigil. He asked police officials to form peace committees at all police station jurisdictions and ensure that the festival passes off peacefully.

Chagalamarri Police have arrested five members of a cricket betting gang involved in placing bets on the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) matches. On the instructions of Superintendent of Police Adhiraj Singh Rana, the Allagadda sub-division police have kept a watch on the cricket betting gangs and received specific inputs about betting activity in Chagalamarri on Friday night. Police raided an open place near the flyover on the road leading to Mallevemula from Chagalamarri and nabbed five persons who were organising betting on the Sunrisers Hyderabad-Royal Challengers Bangalore match. The arrested have been identified as — Byreddy Maddileti Reddy, Khaji Mohammed Rafi, Chakali Harikrishna, Bugga Baba Fakruddin and Shaik Sharif — all hailing from Chagalamarri town in the district, and the police seized ₹2.06 lakh cash from them. A case has been registered under the AP Gaming Act against the five accused, the police said.

In a significant judgement, the Nandyal District First Additional Sessions Court sentenced four persons to five years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹25,000 each in a Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act case. Superintendent of Police Adhiraj Singh Rana said: 'The convicts Erukula Kavadi Murali and Erukula Garidi Suri of Dhone Town, Erukula Mekala Srinu of Golugonda in Visakhapatnam district, and Erukula Pusala Sivakumar of Banswada in Nizamabad-Telangana were caught by the Dhone Town police on December 29, 2018. The arrests were made near the Anjaneya Swamy temple in the town, while they were packing ganja into small packets. Police seized 1.2 kg ganja during the arrest.'

Nandyal: In a district-wide initiative to maintain law and order, police officials across Nandyal district conducted counseling sessions for rowdy-sheeters and individuals with criminal records on Sunday. The drive was held under the instructions of Nandyal District Superintendent of Police, Adhiraj Singh Rana. As part of the programme, individuals listed in police history sheets were summoned to their respective police stations, where officials counseled them to abandon criminal activities and lead responsible lives. Police authorities stressed that surveillance is being maintained over their current lifestyle, activities, and behavior. Speaking on the occasion, police officers warned that those who revert to criminal behavior or engage in unlawful acts will face binding-over proceedings along with stringent legal action. 'We urge you to renounce crime, become good citizens, and live as role models for your children and society,' officials told the attendees. Police further informed that updated photographs of all listed individuals are being recorded and incorporated into their history sheets. Their details and photographs will also be uploaded into the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS) database to strengthen monitoring efforts. Authorities issued a clear warning that anyone found violating the law again will not be spared and strict action will be taken as per legal provisions.

Kurnool, Nandyal police brace for NEET

Kurnool and Nandyal police have made arrangements to ensure a smooth NEET UG-2025, scheduled for Sunday (May 4). In Nandyal, Superintendent of Police Adhiraj Singh Rana inspected the NEET centres at Government Degree College, ESC government polytechnic college and junior colleges and took stock of the security at these centres. A total of 1,172 candidates will appear for the eligibility test in the district. Mr. Adhiraj Singh Rana asked the police personnel not to allow internet or xerox centres near the examination centres. He instructed the police to frisk the candidates thoroughly before allowing them to enter the centres. Mobile phones, smart watches and other electronic gadgets will not be allowed inside the centres. The SP asked the officials to use drones to keep a tab on the surroundings of the centres. In Kurnool, the examination will be held at 16 centres, and 210 police personnel have been deployed for security. A total of 4,466 candidates are likely to appear for the examination, to be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Each centre has been assigned a circle inspector or a sub-inspector rank officer, and Section 163 of BNSS has been imposed near the centres, Superintendent of Police Vikrant Patel said. He directed the officials to ensure that traffic snarls don't inconvenience the candidates.
