Keider Montero, Riley Greene lead Tigers to 3-1 win over Giants
DETROIT (AP) — Keider Montero pitched five scoreless innings and Riley Greene drove in two runs to help the Detroit Tigers beat the San Francisco Giants 3-1 on Monday.
Montero (2-1) entered the game with a 5.28 ERA in six games, but held the Giants to one hit and two walks while striking out three.
Five relievers finished, with Will Vest pitching the ninth for his sixth save.
Hayden Birdsong (2-1) took the loss, giving up three runs on five hits and two walks in 4 1/3 innings.
The Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the fourth on Dillon Dingler's RBI single, and they added two runs in the fifth.
With one out, Detroit loaded the bases on a single and two walks before Greene looped a two-run single into center. Reliever Erik Miller avoided a worse outcome by intentionally walking Spencer Torkelson and getting Zach McKinstry to hit into an inning-ending double play.
Wilmer Flores' RBI single made it 3-1 in the sixth, but the Giants failed to get a runner into scoring position in the last three innings.

I think she won the match not because she played incredible; just because I made all of those mistakes from — like, if you look from the outside, kind of like from easy balls.' The disappointment was even greater given that Sabalenka has worked hard to adapt her game to the slow surface over the years, and after she ended Iga Swiatek's 26-match unbeaten streak at the French Open in the semifinals. 'You've been playing against a lot of tough opponents, Olympic champion, Iga, and then you go out, and you play really bad,' she said during her post-match interview. 'It was honestly the worst tennis I've played in the last, I don't know how many months.' Sabalenka also complained about the weather conditions. The retractable roof over the center court remained open during the final, and Sabalenka was visibly annoyed by bursts of wind sweeping across the court. Lilli Tagger wins French Open girls title
PARIS (AP) — Lilli Tagger of Austria has won the girls title at the French Open without dropping a set in the tournament. Making her junior Roland-Garros debut this year, the 17-year-old Tagger beat eighth-seeded Hannah Klugman of Britain 6-2, 6-0 in the final on Saturday. Tagger saved all five break points she faced and hit 19 winners. She is the first Austrian player to win a junior singles title at the French Open. Her previous best result at a major tournament was reaching the quarterfinals at the Australian Open this year. Yui Kamiji wins fifth French Open wheelchair singles title
PARIS (AP) — Top-ranked Yui Kamiji of Japan won a fifth wheelchair singles title at the French Open by beating second-seeded Aniek Van Koot on Saturday. Kamiji won 6-2, 6-2 in the women's final on Court Suzanne-Lenglen. It was the 72nd meeting between Kamiji and her Dutch rival, and their 20th at a Grand Slam tournament.
