States where fast food could get a lot more expensive due to new law
Ten states and the District of Columbia have banned a popular fast food to-go container that could mean takeouts are about to get more expensive for customers. Earlier this week, Delaware joined the cohort of states and the capital that have banned Styrofoam containers in the fast food industry. The restaurant industry has often leaned on the white, creaky material because it insulated food for roughly 14 cents per container, compared to a biodegradable option that typically runs for around 25 cents. 'It could be something that affects us when it comes to pricing [of our food],' Ezell Barnes, who owns a Delaware food truck called Zoagies, told Delaware Online. 'We already exist on razor-thin profit margins.' CEO of the Delaware Restaurant Association, Carrie Leishman, said the new ban could largely affect small businesses and potentially run them into the ground. 'The stain which this could place on a small business could end so many of them,' she told the outlet. 'What this bill really impacts is equity in the restaurant business,' she said. 'The impact upon our local ethnic minority communities, given its effects on these small restaurants, will be incredibly damaging.' The Golden State has vowed to cut single-use plastics by 25 percent by 2032 and to recycle 65 percent of what's left. It shift to recycled plastic in the same time frame, according to Cal Recycle. Californians throw out 290 Olympic pool-sized worth of plastic each day. Styrofoam takes 500 years to decompose and it cannot be recycled, like glass and certain types of plastic. The material also leaks large amounts of ozone in the atmosphere, which causes environmental and respiratory issues, according to Colgate University. Styrofoam is estimated to take up roughly 30 percent of the US' landfills, with around 5billion pounds of it, according to Heal The Planet.

Arsenal chief's reputation on line with Gyokeres vs Sesko transfer decision
Arsenal are closing in on a deal for Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres with the Gunners having also been interested in Benjamin Sesko during the summer transfer window Arsenal are closing in on a sensational swoop for Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres. The Gunners have an agreement in place on a five year contract in excess of £200,000-a-week for the Sweden international who hit a staggering 54 goals last season. But Sporting Lisbon are still determined to play hardball on the fee and want around £70m - with at least £60m up-front and more in add-ons - and Arsenal are pushing hard to get an agreement on the fee. It will be a big coup for Arsenal's new sporting director Andrea Berta who is effectively staking his reputation on ex-Coventry and Brighton striker Gyokeres who left English football to become a huge hit in Portugal where he scored 97 goals in 102 appearances. But there are still question marks over whether that will translate into the Premier League and Arsenal's No1 target last year was RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko who was courted this summer but no agreement has ever been reached. It is clear that Berta has championed Gyokeres over Sesko and that is an interesting development even though Mikel Arteta is also on board with the decision. Arteta wants his new signings on board for pre-season. Arsenal have been desperate to land a new No9 and they are spending big with the announcement of new £51m midfielder Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad. They have also announced keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, they want a new defender - Valencia's Cristhian Mosquera has been heavily linked - and have a £15m deal lined up for Brentford's Christian Norgaard. The Gunners are also determined to sign a new winger with Real Madrid star Rodrygo their dream target but they will not be able to afford him and all their other deals without making a significant sale. There has been Saudi Pro League interest in Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard while Arsenal have been tracking Chelsea 's Noni Madueke who is surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge Arsenal also need to tie down Ethan Nwaneri, 18, who is entering the final year of his contract but wants playing time and the uncertainty around his future - with him fitting perfectly into Chelsea's model - is a huge concern.
