‘Arcane' Producer Fortiche Teaming With ARTE France on Coming-of-Age Mini-Series ‘Miss Saturne'
'Miss Saturne' was previously pitched as a feature and appeared at Cartoon Movie in 2017, but has been retooled as ten, 10-minute episode project to better align with younger viewing habits and digital platforms. How closely the new series will adhere to that original pitch hasn't been made clear, but the companies are describing it as a 'generational fiction infused with music.'

'Miss Saturne' is based on the novel by Barbara Israël and will target teenagers and young adults with a visually stylized 2D look and a heavy dose of 1980s pop atmosphere. The series is currently in development, with a production start eyed for 2026 and a release scheduled for 2027. It follows 16-year-old Mercy and her companion Tom as they flee their past aboard a night train out of Nice. The story unfolds through flashbacks triggered by a New Wave mixtape, delving into themes of adolescence, grief and personal identity.
Screenwriter Louise Silverio, known for 'Happiness' and 'Ceux qui rougissent,' is leading the writing, while Anne Raffin, an alum of 'Arcane' and various music videos, is on board as art director and director. Other confirmed credits include Israël and Vincent Tavier on the literary bible, with Israël's original novel serving as the foundation for the series.
''Miss Saturne' is a unique project that, while rooted in the '80s, captures the essence of adolescence with a musical and emotional intensity that crosses generations,' said Annelyse Vieilledent, co-producer at Les Storygraphes. 'At a time when young people are rediscovering the retro musical repertoire of that decade, I'm convinced that this free, visceral and resolutely pop tale will resonate strongly with them.'
Fortiche co-founder Jérôme Combe added: 'With 'Miss Saturne,' we've found a team with the perfect artistic sensibility. Louise Silverio brings her already known flair for coming-of-age stories, having worked on the award-winning series 'Happiness' and 'Ceuxqui rougissent.' Anne Raffin, who worked on 'Arcane' and music videos, fully shares our desire to explore a strong aesthetic for today's youth. This project is an opportunity for us to explore indie animation designed for the new generation.'
As part of its development push, Fortiche is actively seeking international partners, broadcasters and distributors interested in young adult animation. Financial support has already been secured from Région Occitanie and Pictanovo. Production is being handled by Fortiche Films (Jérôme Combe, Hervé Dupont), with Les Storygraphes and ARTE France onboard as co-producers.

Let's start with LV Rouge lipstick. Available in 55 shades (a subtle nod to the Roman numerals LV) and two finishes (matte and satin), infused with lip-loving ingredients like shea butter and hyaluronic acid, plus waxes derived from rose, jasmine and mimosa flowers. Each lipstick bullet is stamped with the iconic LV monogram and features the signature monogram flower on the cap. Taking the sensorial experience to the next level, the lipsticks are scented with a custom floral fragrance developed by house perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud. As I swiped on the various shades, they felt like the equivalent of couture on my lips; the shades are dimensional and beautifully pigmented, and feel comfortable and effortless on my lips. Monogram Rouge, a muted warm red that almost wears like a neutral, feels as effortlessly chic as French girl beauty always — and rather deceptively — appears. It doesn't feel makeup-y or lipstick-y, but rather like a luxury accessory that brings your entire look to life. Next, there's LV Baume — the most luxurious lip balm I have ever tried. Available in 10 shades (including clear), the hydrating formula adds a sheer tint that brings lips to life. (My favourite of the bunch: Monogram Touch, a sheer chocolate brown that echoes the unmistakable initials on the iconic LV canvas.) Like the lipsticks, the balms are also gently scented with a subtle raspberry-mint fragrance and are easily refillable. Ranging from luminous beige to lipstick-inspired (and surprisingly wearable) burgundy, the silky, pigmented shadows are gentle on the eyes, thanks to moisturising ingredients like plant-derived squalane and camelina flower oil extract. Best of all, the quads take the guesswork out of picking shades that work together in a single eye look. (These gorgeous palettes are also refillable, but note that each petal-shaped pan is magnetised individually and requires a bit of finesse to swap in and out.) The full collection drops on 25th August, so be sure to set those alarms if you want to own a piece of luxury beauty history. (And when we say 'luxury', we mean it: LV Rouge and LV Baume retail for £120 each, and LV Ombres go for £190.) Actor son of murder-suicide victim issues stepdad funeral plea
An actor whose mother was the victim of a murder-suicide in France has urged her friends not to attend his stepdad's funeral. Callum Kerr, who appeared in Hollyoaks and Netflix's Virgin River, said it would be "inappropriate" for the memory of his mother, Dawn Searle, to be associated with her husband Andrew Searle. The couple's bodies were discovered by a neighbour at their country home in the Aveyron region on 6 February. The prosecutor in charge of the case previously told the BBC it was murder followed by suicide and there was no evidence that another person was involved. The statement, issued on Kerr's Instagram account on behalf of the actor and his sister Amanda, comes more than six months after the couple were found dead. It is unclear why it has taken so long for Mr Searle's body to be released by the French authorities or when his funeral is scheduled to take place. They urged friends of their mother's not to attend the ceremony and asked people not to share photographs of Mr and Mrs Searle together. The statement concluded: "It would be inappropriate for her memory to be associated with a service honouring the man who, based on all available evidence, may have been responsible for her death. "We ask for understanding, privacy and respect as we continue to grieve and seek justice for our mum." Mrs Searle's body was found in the garden of the couple's property in the hamlet of Les Pesquiès, with severe wounds to her head. Mr Searle's body was found inside their home, about an hour north of Toulouse. Police were alerted to the incident by a neighbour who had gone to check on them when they failed to turn up for a planned dog walk. Post-mortem examinations confirmed Mrs Searle suffered "multiple blows to the head with a blunt and sharp-edged object" while Mr Searle died from hanging. Mrs Searle, 56, grew up in Eyemouth in the Scottish Borders, and Mr Searle, 62, was originally from England. They previously lived in Musselburgh, near Edinburgh, and married in France in 2023. Prosecutors said they had lived in the Aveyron region for five years. According to his LinkedIn page, Mr Searle previously worked in financial crime prevention at companies including Standard Life and Barclays Bank.
