
AUBH's fourth research day 'TechNext 2025' showcases the future of technology
Manama – The American University of Bahrain (AUBH) recently hosted the fourth edition of its Annual Research Day, themed "TechNext 2025: Innovations in Emerging Technologies and Applications." The event brought together leading researchers, industry experts, and students from universities across the Kingdom to explore the impact of technological advancements in reshaping industries, societies, and the future.
The day featured a series of thought-provoking scientific sessions covering key areas of innovation. In a keynote session on "Innovative Solutions for Energy and Environmental Challenges," Dr. Abdulla Al-Abbasi, Director of the Energy and Environment Program at Derasat's Studies and Research Directorate, provided insights into the latest advancements in sustainable energy and environmental solutions. AUBH's faculty members presented papers on various topics, such as,
"Collaborative Learning Tools for Enhanced Student Engagement in Virtual Contexts" "High-Performance Computing and Machine Learning for Advanced Simulation" and more.
The event also featured a 'Finance and Technology' Panel Discussion, moderated by Mr Yusuf Salman Al-Slaise a Postgraduate student from AUBH. The panel brought together distinguished experts, including Dr. Hamad Alsayed from Tawazn Digital Investment, Mrs Muneera AlFadhel from Bede Bahrain, Mrs. Nadia AlQassab, from BIBF, and Mr. Karim Hasan from from The BENEFIT Company.
In addition to the insightful discussions, the event featured an interactive Virtual Reality (VR) Experience Workshop and poster sessions, where participants had the opportunity to present their research findings and innovative ideas, fostering a dynamic exchange of knowledge and perspectives. The event concluded with an awards ceremony, recognizing outstanding research contributions and honouring the most distinguished participants.
Commenting on the success of the event, Prof. Hanan Naser, Associate Provost at AUBH, emphasized that hosting the fourth edition of the 'Research Day' reflects the university's strong commitment to fostering research, innovation, and meaningful dialogue on the latest technological advancements, and stated, 'Our role as academics and researchers is to ensure that innovation is inclusive, sustainable, and aligned with human values. The future of technology is not just about what we can create, but how we use it to enhance lives, build resilient societies, and foster economic growth.'

Ajman University shows sensory-friendly spaces for children with autism
Ajman University (AU) hosted the 8th edition of its flagship Research Day, reinforcing its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and national development. The annual event, organised by the Deanship of Research and Graduate Studies, brought together faculty members, undergraduate and postgraduate students, and distinguished representatives from government and private sectors to explore how applied research can support the UAE's long-term strategic ambitions. Held at Ajman Saray Hotel, the event showcased interdisciplinary student research projects addressing real-world challenges in areas such as urban planning, public health, technology, design, and behavioral science. Among the many impactful contributions, students from the College of Engineering and IT explored sustainable freshwater collection systems through condensation technologies. From the College of Architecture, Art, and Design, one project examined how walkable urban design can enhance livability, while another proposed sensory-friendly spaces for children with autism. Marketing and management students analysed green consumer behaviour in the UAE, while projects from the College of Law addressed privacy rights and legal frameworks in digital environments. Medical students explored health access and clinical practices, while researchers in Pharmacy and Health Sciences examined environmental risk factors and pharmaceutical advancements. The College of Dentistry presented innovations in oral care, while students in Humanities, Social Sciences, and Mass Communication tackled behavioural trends, social perceptions, and media narratives. These projects collectively reflect the breadth and depth of Ajman University's research ecosystem, grounded in relevance, rigour, and national impact. Dr. Karim Seghir, Chancellor of Ajman University, stated, 'Research is one of the key pillars of our mission and the cornerstone of our vision to nurture a knowledge-based and innovation-driven economy. By organising this event, we have reaffirmed our commitment to fostering creative researchers capable of linking theory with practice and producing knowledge with real social impact.' He further said, 'As a non-profit institution, all our resources are utilised to strengthen the research environment, develop academic infrastructure, and forge impactful scientific partnerships aligned with national development goals. Moreover, we align all our research programmes with the objectives of the 'UAE Vision 2071' as well as the national agenda for innovation, future technologies, and sustainability.' The event also honoured outstanding student and faculty contributions, fostering a research culture that links theory with practice and encourages collaboration across disciplines. Through presentations, feedback from experts, and networking with industry professionals, students had the opportunity to refine their research and enhance their readiness to contribute meaningfully to economic and social development. American University of Bahrain to host 'Sustain Bahrain 2025' international conference
Manama, Bahrain – The American University of Bahrain (AUBH) is set to host Sustain Bahrain 2025, Scopus Indexed International Conference on June 23–24, under the theme 'Empowering Innovation for a Sustainable Future.' The conference will take place at the University's Auditorium and will bring together a distinguished group of international experts and specialists in the fields of sustainability, environmental science, climate studies, entrepreneurship, and innovation. This international conference is positioned as a comprehensive academic platform, distinguished by its inclusion of an extensive selection of peer-reviewed research papers, scholarly articles, academic references, and specialised periodicals. All contributions are indexed in Scopus, one of the world's foremost academic databases, underscoring the event's scholarly integrity, research depth, and global academic relevance. The programme will cover a diverse set of research tracks, such as sustainable business, management, finance, and Islamic banking. Thumbay International Research Grant 1st Cycle concludes with resounding success
Ajman, UAE– Gulf Medical University (GMU), Ajman, celebrated the outstanding success of the inaugural Thumbay International Research Grant (TIRG)at a grand award ceremony held on April 15, 2025, coinciding with GMU's Annual Research Day. The groundbreaking initiative, supported by Thumbay Group UAE, attracted global attention for its mission to drive impactful healthcare research through international collaboration and innovation. His Highness Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, was the Chief Guest and was reprasented by H.E Dr. Sheikh Majeed Bin saeed Al Nauimi, Chairman Rulers Court who personally awarded the research grants to the winners. With an initial funding pool of AED 3 million, the grant was designed to support pioneering projects in key areas such as Precision Medicine, Drug Discovery and Cancer Immunology, Population Health related to Diabetes, Healthy Aging and Regenerative Medicine, AI, Informatics and Digital Transformation in Healthcare Management and Health Economics, and Innovation in Health Professions Education. Dr. Thumbay Moideen, Founder of Gulf Medical University and President of Thumbay Group, reiterated the vision behind this initiative: 'We launched this grant to transform Gulf Medical University into a hub for Research.'
