Sony WH-1000XM4 Headphones Restocked at Nearly 50% Off, a Last-Minute Back-to-School Steal

Good headphones are an excellent upgrade for a lot of us. The chances are that you've been using your current pair for way too long, and while they probably still get the job done, it's nice to move into the modern age fully with these things. Headphones get better at a pretty impressive rate, but new ones can also cost a huge amount of money. That's where deals come in though, and we've found an excellent one for you today.
That's because the Sony WH-1000XM4 Headphones, some of the best headphones money can buy, are currently on sale with a massive 43% off. That means they're down to $198 for a limited time, and that's the kind of deal that's just not going to last for very long.

Headphones can be better than earbuds for a lot of people. The main draw is comfort though. Not everyone wants to have to deal with things inside their ears, especially not if they watch too much horror, and headphones do away with that. They're also a lot harder to lose, which can be a big win for those who are prone to misplacing things, and also anyone with kids.
These particular headphones are a fair bit ahead of nearly every other option on the market. They boast some of the best sound quality going, which means that you'll be able to enjoy your music, audiobooks, and podcasts with a whole new level of clarity. They have amazing touch controls, incredible call quality thanks to the built-in microphones, and they even detect when you take them off and automatically pause whatever you're listening to. That's going to be a big help if you're always getting interrupted.
The battery life is next-level too. At max charge, these can last up to 30 hours without you needing to even think about going near a charger, and even if you are running low, just ten minutes of charge can lead to an extra five hours of playback. That means they'll last longer than your workday or commute, at least for most people. They're also supremely comfortable, which means wearing them for a long time won't hurt your ears.
All of this combines to make for an incredibly high-quality pair of headphones. These are worth the normal price, so if you fancy them, make sure you're quick and you'll be able to enjoy them for $198 instead of $350.

Amazon Is Practically Giving Away 4.5-Star Mini PC at Below Prime Day Pricing (8GB RAM, 256GB SSD)

Getting a new PC is an exciting time, but it's only really doable if you've got both enough space and enough money. It can feel like you're locked out of having one if you don't have a big desk at home, or the space for one. Thankfully, mini PCs exist, and they're often good enough for people who just want to get some work or studying done at home. Right now, you can get your hands on the Kamrui AK1PLUS Mini PC for just $120, which is 33% off the normal price of $180. As this is a limited-time deal though, it does mean that there's no real way of knowing how long it'll last. So, if you decide you do want this, we recommend getting it quickly to avoid missing out. See at Amazon Mini PCs basically give you everything you want if you're looking for basic PC stuff. While you're going to struggle to find one that'll let you play video games, you'll be set if you're just looking for something to do a bit of work or studying on. You can always use it to watch your favorite streaming services as well, we're not going to tell anyone, don't worry. This particular model comes with an N95 processor capable of hitting up to 3.4GHz, which works alongside the 8GB of RAM to allow it to comfortably handle low-to-mid tasks. You're not going to be able to process huge amounts all at once, but it's great for low-level processing. It also has a 256GB SSD, which is a pretty solid amount for that kind of task. It's definitely worth keeping in mind the limits of a device like this, but it makes for an excellent choice for anyone who wants a PC at home or in the dorm that they can study or work on. Of course, you can easily connect it to a monitor and your Ethernet, and the device itself is tiny, making it perfect as a device you can take with you if you know there are workstations you can hook it up to, or just for tiny desks. It's a decent amount of power for the price, but just keep in mind that the 33% discount isn't going to last for long. So, if you do want to pick it up while it's just $120, you're going to want to do it sooner rather than later. See at Amazon

Apple iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro Release Date: New Report Specifies Key Dates

Updated Aug. 21 with more details of the schedule and whether a new leak, ostensibly from Apple, can be believed (spoiler: it can't, but it's not all bad news). Press reports can help us to know exactly when the next iPhones will go on sale. Here's the news on the latest analysis that can be trusted, and how it could be just days until we can be near-certain of what's coming when. A new report claims that Apple just accidentally leaked the date of the keynote. Should you believe it? More on that below. Apple's biggest event of the year, the release of the iPhone 17 series, is just weeks away — well, it's always September (pandemic year apart), so that's not exactly great intel. But in just over one week, we'll have enough information to know exactly when the iPhones will go on sale. Analysis is becoming more widespread, with key sources adding considered opinions. The truth is that, unless there's an upset, and this is Apple, so nothing can be ruled out, the iPhone 17 series, plus up to three new Apple Watches, will go on sale in the week after the keynote. So, as soon as we know the keynote date, the rest of the schedule falls into place with the dull glow of inevitability. Additionally, the keynote almost always takes place in the second full week of September, which this year begins on Monday, Sept. 8. Leading tech journalist Sean Keach from U.K. newspaper The Sun has just published his own thoughts, in a post headed, 'I'm convinced I know exact iPhone 17 release date WEEKS before big Apple reveal – and I guessed last year's right too.' I am, of course, too modest to add, you and me both, Sean. 'Apple usually shows off its blockbuster iPhone for the year in September. It's typically in the first half of the month on a Tuesday or Wednesday,' Keach says. That's true, but let's remember that last year Apple surprised some pundits by holding the keynote on a Monday. However, I've been saying for some weeks that the keynote will almost certainly be on Tuesday, Sept. 9 this year. 'I'm guessing that the iPhone 17 launch will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 9,' Keach believes, and that chimes with what I believe. Some websites are covering news of Apple accidentally posting the date and time of the keynote in the Apple TV app before quickly taking it down. The bad news: it's a fake, and the AppleLeaker X account that posted it has since added, 'I have been informed that this leak was fabricated.' The good news: at least the fake intel has the same date, Sept. 9. It would be more confusing if they'd faked it with a different date. 'Working backwards… I'd guess that Apple will announce its event via invitations on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2025,' Keach believes. I agree. I'll go further and suggest you look out for an announcement of the keynote date at around 8 a.m Pacific, 11 a.m. Eastern, 4 p.m U.K. on that day As soon as that announcement is made, everything else falls into place. To add more flesh to the bones of the schedule, it means, if it is Sept. 9, that pre-orders will open on Friday, Sept. 12. Usually, this will take place at 5 a.m. Pacific, 8 a.m. Eastern, 1 p.m. U.K. It's worth checking out the Apple website the day before, though, as sometimes Apple lets you put the phone of your choice in the shopping bag, so you can snag the model, color and storage you want, so you're ready to go the moment the pre-orders open. In turn, this would mean that the phones and watches will go on sale on Friday, Sept. 19. Keach echoes these dates. Of course, we could both be wrong, but the addition of a respected writer (with a history of accurate predictions) with the exact same dates helps cement their likelihood.

Google's next big Android update can force dark mode and icon themes

Google has started rolling out its latest batch of Android 16 features to beta testers, including expanded support for dark mode and themed app icons. The QPR2 beta 1 was announced yesterday alongside Google launching the Pixel 10 series, and is expected to get a full public release sometime in December, according to Google's release timeline. The beta includes a new dark theme option that will 'intelligently invert the UI of apps that appear light despite users having selected the dark theme' when enabled, according to Google's announcement, forcibly making apps that don't natively support the feature to appear darker. Google says this is 'largely intended as an accessibility feature' for users with low vision or photosensitivity, and will also automatically darken app splash screens and adjust status bar colors to match the darker theming. Another feature will allow users to forcibly apply themed icon colors to apps that don't natively support them. Android's icon theming currently only works if app developers have provided a monochrome version of their app icon that can be adjusted, which is annoying for users who want to apply a consistent aesthetic across their entire home page. Auto-themed app icons spare developers from adding this capability manually, removing the hassle for users to customize their phone's theme. A new 'Parental Controls' option is being added to Android Settings to make it easier to manage built-in controls and Google Family Link. The on-device controls are pin-protected, and allow parents to set screen time limits, downtime schedules, block apps, and filter out mature content from search engines. There are also a bunch of improvements that make migrating data between Android and iOS devices more secure and reliable, expand support for annotating and editing PDF documents, integrate Personal Audio Sharing for Bluetooth LE devices directly into the system's output switcher, and more. You can check out the full feature list on the Android developers' blog. The QPR2 beta 1 update should automatically be available for Pixel users who are enrolled in the Android beta program. Anyone else will have to wait for the official release later this year to play around with the new Android features.
