Pedestrian struck, killed on Tangipahoa Parish highway
TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A man is dead following a crash in Tangipahoa Parish, according to Louisiana State Police.
Troopers reported that around 5:50 a.m. on Tuesday, April 8, they responded to the scene of a single-vehicle crash involving a pedestrian on Louisiana Highway 445 near Gliderport Road.
New Orleans school placed on lockdown due to gun scare
An investigation revealed a 1999 Ford F-350 was headed north on the highway just as 73-year-old Keith Guidry was headed south in a wheelchair in the same lane.
Troopers said for unknown reasons, the truck struck Guidry, resulting in fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The truck's driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation, as toxicology samples from both individuals have been sent off for testing.
'Louisiana State Police urge both pedestrians and motorists to remain alert and aware of their surroundings while on or near roadways. Gunfire erupts in Abbeville following group altercation Friday night
ABBEVILLE, La. (KLFY) — A violent altercation in Abbeville on Friday night led to a shooting, according to the Abbeville Police Department. The incident involved a group of young individuals who were allegedly fighting amongst themselves. According to police, the incident involved a group of young people who were allegedly fighting amongst each other. During the fight, one of the people involved allegedly pulled out mace and multiple people were sprayed. Then a minor allegedly pulled out a gun and accidentally shot a woman in the arm, police said. FIRST ON FOX: Some House Republicans are now considering whether non-citizens who are found to have participated in violent anti-law enforcement riots have a right to stay in the United States. Rep. Dan Crenshaw, R-Texas, is leading a bill that would make non-U.S. citizens convicted of "actual or attempted assault, battery, or use of force" against any law enforcement officer eligible for deportation. Any immigrants deported under the legislation, if enacted, would be permanently barred from the United States. "The thing about breaking the law is, there's effectively a waiving of your constitutional rights that's sort of inherent in our system, right? When you go to prison, you're losing your liberty," Crenshaw told Fox News Digital in an interview Tuesday.
