Housefull 5 Box Office Collections: Akshay Kumar starrer takes career best opening overseas

Housefull 5 opened well at the overseas box office, grossing USD 1.25 million (Rs. 10.50 crore) approx on its Friday opening day. Combined with its Rs. 26.50 crore opening day collection in India, the film recorded a worldwide gross of Rs. 37 crore on Day 1. The overseas opening day numbers are the highest ever for an Akshay Kumar film, tying with Housefull 3, which grossed USD 1.25 million (USD 1.60 million including previews) in 2016. However, Housefull 3 had a release in Pakistan, which is a no-go for Indian films now. In a like-for-like comparison, excluding Pakistan, Housefull 5 sets a new record for Kumar, surpassing the previous best held by Good Newwz. From here, the film will aim for a weekend of USD 4 million plus, which will also be a record for Akshay, and that will be even without needing to exclude Pakistan. The best performing markets for the film were the Middle East and New Zealand, with good support from Australia and the United Kingdom. The US and Canada could have done better, as they are significantly lower than Diwali releases Singham 3 and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, while in other markets, it was either ahead or on par. In the Middle East, the film benefited from Eid holidays, with an estimated USD 500K approx first day. These numbers can go a bit higher once the actuals come, which are delayed due to the holiday period. In New Zealand, particularly in the Fiji Islands, comedies generally overperform, and the Housefull franchise has a stellar record, with the second & fourth films becoming the highest-grossing grossers ever at the time of their release. The film grossed NZD 80K on its first day, which is the seventh highest ever for a Hindi film in the market, on par with Jawan and ahead of films like Tiger 3 and Dunki. The First Day Overseas Box Office Collections of Housefull 5 are as follows:

Passengers call Srinagar-Katra Vande Bharat a ‘great move' to connect Kashmir with rest of India

The inaugural ride of the Vande Bharat Express between Srinagar and Katra has drawn praise from passengers, many of whom described the new service as offering "unmatched convenience," making travel "much easier", "possible and comfortable," while hailing it as a "great move by the government" to connect Kashmir with the rest of India. Tourists and locals alike hailed the launch as a historic moment, saying it would not only cut down travel time but also boost tourism and make Kashmir more accessible. Speaking to ANI, Ashok Kumar Khajanchi, a tourist from Bikaner in Rajasthan, shared his experience, "We came from Bikaner to Mumbai and then to Srinagar. We've visited places like Belgaum, Gulmarg, and Sonamarg. Many had tried to scare us into cancelling our trip, but we were determined. When we heard Vande Bharat was running, we cancelled our taxi to Jammu Tawi, even though we lost Rs 6,000. We booked Vande Bharat tickets at 7 PM and reached Srinagar by 8 PM. Due to my health problems, the train made travel much easier." Khajanchi, who is recovering from a foot fracture, added, "The convenience offered by Vande Bharat is unmatched. I had two fractures, so we had to cancel our earlier car and train bookings. But this train made the journey possible and comfortable." PM Modi J&K visit highlights His wife, Manju Khajanchi, also expressed satisfaction with their Kashmir trip. "We've spent five days in Srinagar. The weather is lovely, and people are welcoming. Whatever you hear in the news is far from reality. It's peaceful and beautiful--just like a paradise," she said, standing at Srinagar railway station before boarding the train back to Katra. Another traveller highlighted the new service's time-saving aspect: "Earlier, travelling to Jammu meant taking a flight or a long taxi ride. Now, the Vande Bharat train will make the same journey in nearly the same time as a flight. It's a great move by the government to connect Kashmir with the rest of India." He added, "This will benefit not just tourists but also officials and local commuters. Once extended to Jammu in two months, the journey will become even smoother. People from the South who earlier avoided long flights or multiple modes of transport can now come by train." With the commencement of this route, many believe Kashmir will witness a sharp rise in tourism, as Vande Bharat promises a fast, reliable, and scenic journey through the valley. On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off two Vande Bharat Express trains from Katra Railway Station, officially connecting the Jammu division with Kashmir via rail. This marks a major milestone in strengthening railway infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir. During his visit, PM Modi also inaugurated the world's highest railway arch bridge over the Chenab River. Speaking on the occasion, he said the development projects will further boost Jammu and Kashmir's growth journey. The train passes through two engineering marvels: the Anji Khad Bridge, India's first cable-stayed railway bridge, and the Chenab Bridge, the highest railway bridge in the world.

‘IndiGo, you're going down': Man misses connection flight from Jaipur, claims he lost Rs 2.65 lakh deal

A LinkedIn post by Chayan Garg has stirred debate online after he recounted how poor handling by IndiGo staff at Jaipur airport allegedly caused him to miss a crucial flight, ultimately costing him a client deal worth Rs 2.65 lakh. In a post titled 'IndiGo, you're going down,' Garg described how what was meant to be a routine work trip from Jaipur to Mumbai turned into him losing a 'high-stakes client meeting.' 'I reached the airport at 4:40 AM, cleared security by 5:10 AM, and was told by the IndiGo executive that boarding would begin in 10–15 minutes,' Garg wrote. With time to spare and the boarding gate crowded, he said he briefly stepped away to use the washroom. 'When I came back after 12 minutes, I was told boarding was closed. I was literally surprised as the boarding was supposed to start, not end.' What frustrated him further, he claimed, was the lack of any announcement. When he questioned the staff, he was told that Jaipur is a 'silent airport' where announcements are minimal. However, Garg countered this by pointing out that 'just minutes earlier, there was an announcement for the Dehradun flight from IndiGo.' When he mentioned this to the staff, 'they denied it straight to my face.' Despite pleading with staff and explaining the urgency of his client meeting, Garg says he was not allowed to board and received no support. 'No alternate option. No help with the next flight. No refund. No empathy,' he wrote. The fallout, he claims, was severe: 'We lost the client. Rs 2.65 lakh down the drain. A month's effort gone in seconds.' He ended the post by tagging consumer rights advocate Revant Himatsingka and asking for help, 'I'm genuinely clueless right now.' The post quickly went viral, striking a chord with many online. One user commented, 'I cannot imagine the number of people who have gone through something similar but were never properly compensated because they lack a platform and people who would listen. I really hope this post helps all of them.' Another user commented: 'I am sorry for what you went through, and I am not related to IndiGo, but if you tell the situation to the client, I am sure they would understand. If they don't, you should be grateful that you didn't end up working with someone who does not understand uncontrollable circumstances.' Some users also raised practical concerns, with one said, 'Strange. Normally they call on your mobile number if you miss the boarding, personal experience. Early morning flights are boarded before time as the plane is already parked overnight and they have to reduce time lag throughout the day.' IndiGo eventually responded to the controversy, acknowledging the passenger's frustration but standing by their protocol. 'Dear Mr Garg, we understand how disappointing it can be to miss a flight, and our carefully planned travel gets disrupted. However, as per our review, the boarding gate closed 25 minutes before departure, in line with standard procedure. Unfortunately, your arrival was after gate closure, by which time final preparations for take-off were already underway. Our airport team offered the next available flight to support you, and while we respect your decision not to proceed with it, we genuinely appreciate your patience and understanding. At IndiGo, we are committed to continuously working towards smoother, more seamless journeys for all our customers,' the airline wrote in a comment.
