New Zealand crushes Zimbabwe by 60 runs to keep perfect record at T20 tri-series
Tim Seifert (75) smashed his second successive half century and Rachin Ravindra made an entertaining 63 runs off 39 balls as New Zealand posted the tournament's highest total of 190-6 with its fourth straight win of the league stage.
New Zealand and South Africa had already secured their places in Saturday's final.
Leg-spinner Ish Sodhi, one of four changes for New Zealand, grabbed a career-best 4-12 in four overs as Zimbabwe was dismissed for 130 in 18.5 overs.
Zimbabwe lost all four games.
Supreme Seifert
Mitchell Santner became the first captain in the tournament to choose to bat first on a tricky wicket after winning the toss.
Tim Robinson (10) couldn't capitalize on Ryan Burl's dropped catch in the slips before he had scored and was out to Zimbabwe's best bowler, Richard Ngarava (4-34).
Zimbabwe was scrappy in the field when Seifert got a lucky escape on 13 as Tony Munyonga missed a catching opportunity at deep backward square leg.
Together with Ravindra, Seifert raised 108 runs for the second wicket before Zimbabwe hit back.
Fast bowler Tinotenda Maposa had both Ravindra and Mark Chapman caught in the outfield in the space of three balls and Ngarava chipped in with three wickets in his return spell.
Seifert feathered a catch to wicketkeeper Clive Madande after Ngarava outfoxed him with a slower ball while Bevon Jacobs was spectacularly caught by Munyonga at backward point.
Michael Bracewell made a 16-ball 26 and Trevor Gwandu (0-51) went for 21 runs off his final over.
'Different guys stepping up at different times is a good thing, although it can be a selection headache at times," Santner said. We know we have a massive game in a couple of days' time.'
Sodhi strikes
Zimbabwe opener Dion Myers (22) smashed four boundaries in a brisk start before Sodhi struck three times inside the batting powerplay and the hosts were reduced to 37-4.
Sodhi clean bowled Myers and Madande after Brian Bennett was caught when he failed to clear Jacobs at extra cover as he tried to show early aggression against the leg-spinner.
Off-spinner Bracewell made it 44-5 when he took a well judged caught-and-bowled off Burl's miscued hit before Munyonga (40 in 30) and Tashinga Musekiwa (21) resisted with a 51-run partnership.
Sodhi returned in the 14th over and picked up his 150th T20 wicket when Munyonga holed out at long-off.
New Zealand's pace then finished off the tail in quick succession with Matt Henry taking 2-34.
'We keep digging ourselves a hole and when we try to climb out of it, we don't,' Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza said.
'The catches we dropped hurt us. As much as we wanted to be upbeat, it took us a bit of time to get into the game. One of the things I will speak (to players) is that it is never a dead rubber for Zimbabwe.'

Ben Dwarshius and Nathan Ellis ripped through the West Indies batting line-up combining for five wickets. And Zampa managed to mark his record-breaking milestone with a wicket. Zampa became the fourth Australian to reach 100 games in the T20 arena, but is the first Aussie bowler to do so. He joins greats such as Glenn Maxwell, David Warner and Aaron Finch to record 100 international games. The Australian bowler has been one of the best white-ball spinners in recent years and deserves the milestone. Zampa will have another chance to add to this tally when Australia host South Africa for three T20s and then three ODIs before the Ashes series gets underway. It was something we spoke about after the fourth game. We knew no Australian team had completed a clean sweep. We've had guys come in and played different roles for us. We spoke pre-tour about having flexibility and fluidity as a group. The way T20 is going teams just keep going now and it's exciting and hopefully we can continue our power hitting.' Farnworth Social Circle are the new Premiership leaders in the Anthony Axford North West Cricket League - and they were indebted to record-breaking Jameel Stuart for firing them there on Saturday. Bajan batting all-rounder Stuart hit a remarkable 236 not out off 119 balls as Social Circle beat Atherton by 258 runs at home - his second double-century of the summer represented the highest ever individual score in the three-season history of the NWCL. He crashed 19 sixes and as many fours, underpinning a 45-over total of 376-5 to which Atherton could only respond with 118 all out. New-ball seamer Dave Mather impressed for 6-58. The Bolton side's 11th win in 14 games saw them claim the full 12 points on offer and capitalise on a slip-up by Read, who were beaten at Padiham - only their third reverse of the league season. It now sets up a blockbuster clash between the top two teams at Read on Saturday, the difference between them just a point. Social Circle have 127 points, Read 126. Cherry Tree beat Earby at home in an engaging low-scoring game which could have gone either way. The hosts won for the ninth time in 2025. This came by 16 runs on the back of a 192-9 total led by pro Mini Bhada's composed 56. In reply, second-bottom Earby were 54-0 and 95-2, only to fall to 176 all out in the penultimate over. Mark Hadfield and captain Andreas Sudnik claimed three wickets apiece. Back in the Premiership, fourth-placed Kearsley - 100 points from 14 games - were six-wicket winners away at champions Blackrod, who crumbled to 84 all out. New-ball seamer Mustafa Bashir claimed five wickets as Kearsley won for the eighth time to continue their productive campaign. Like Oswaldtwistle in that aforementioned Championship fixture, a handful of Blackrod batters posted ducks. South African substitute pro Jacques Snyman top-scored with 32 in reply. Win number four puts them on 72 points, 10 clear of second-bottom Atherton and 14 ahead of Eagley. Opener Matthew Hicks top-scored with 62 in Farnworth's 181 all out before striking three times as Tonge were bowled out for 104. Back in the Championship, Walkden dented Barnoldswick's promotion hopes with a five-wicket home win chasing 208. Walkden's fifth win came after captain and new-ball seamer Ammad Afzal claimed five wickets in Barnoldswick's 207 all out before Indian OA Saqlain Haider top-scored in reply with a brisk 69. Barnoldswick are now fifth in the table, 27 points adrift of second-placed Whalley.
