Kuwait Airways, Ooredoo enhance in-flight entertainment
Kuwait Airways has signed a strategic partnership with FASTtelco, a subsidiary of Ooredoo Kuwait, to strengthen public-private sector cooperation and advance sustainable strategic projects under Kuwait Vision 2035.
This partnership aims to digitalise and modernise both the media and aviation sectors, enhancing the passenger experience and promoting Kuwait's rich cultural and digital heritage.
The core of the partnership is the integration of curated content from Platform 51, a digital media initiative developed by the Ministry of Information and powered by FASTtelco.
Platform 51 content will be available through Kuwait Airways' in-flight entertainment system, expanding the reach of Kuwait's national media to passengers worldwide.
The announcement was made in the presence of Saad Nafel Al-Azmi, Assistant Undersecretary for Media Services and New Media Sector at the Ministry of Information.
Abdulmohsen Al-Fagaan, Chairman of Kuwait Airways, commented: "Our strategy places private sector collaboration at the heart of national development efforts. Platform 51 stands out as a pioneering media initiative, and we are proud to help carry its content to the world—especially as we enter the busy summer travel season."
He added: "This agreement represents a steppingstone toward deeper, innovation-led partnerships with the private sector that enhance our customer journey and position Kuwait as a regional leader in digital and media services."
Abdulaziz Al-Babtain, CEO of Ooredoo Kuwait, highlighted the strategic alignment of the collaboration, stating: "This partnership is in line with Ooredoo's commitment to advancing Kuwait's digital transformation. By delivering innovative telecom solutions, we support the government's vision of building a sustainable digital economy."
He continued: "With Platform 51, we've proven our ability to merge technology and media into a replicable national model. True partnerships thrive on shared vision and synergy, and Ooredoo remains committed to empowering national talent and supporting projects that build a resilient digital future."

Kuwait's top appeals court has handed down a four-year jail term to a defendant convicted of posing as an employee at the royal court and defrauding a woman of money, according to a media report. The Court of Cassation also ordered the convict pay a fine of KD263,000 (around $855,520), equivalent to the money he had seized from the Kuwaiti woman after he had duped her into believing he would provide her with a house and chalet as a gift from the royal court. Last week, three former advisors at Kuwait's royal court and a business agent were sentenced to three years in prison each on charges of squandering $180 million in a separate case. The Misdeamour Court also ordered each defendant pay a fine of KD10,000. They were convicted of causing significant damage to the royal court funds in an aircraft deal. The court also ordered their dismissal from their positions after they were proven to have committed serious violations, including negligence, dereliction of duties, and abuse of power inside and outside the country while overseeing the implementation of a contract to equip, furnish, and receive a royal plane. The charges included withholding essential information from the national carrier Kuwait Airways in the contract that was concluded with a US company, which resulted in damage to public money.

Kuwait Airways takes delivery of first Airbus A321neo aircraft
The national carrier, Kuwait Airways, took delivery of its first Airbus A321neo, named Al-Mutlaa, at the Kuwait International Airport, reported Kuwait News Agency (KUNA). In statement to KUNA and Kuwait TV, Kuwait Airways Chairman Captain Abdulmohsen Alfagaan pointed out that Al Mutlaa is one of nine A321neo aircraft on order with the European plane-maker for Kuwait Airways. He described the delivery as a milestone in the company's fleet expansion efforts. Alfagaan noted that Kuwait Airways' A321neo features a spacious and modern cabin with 166 seats across two classes - 16 full-flat business class seats offering premium comfort and 150 economy class seats designed for enhanced passenger space. It is also equipped with modern amenities like in-flight entertainment featuring 4K screens, he added. He shed lights on the new aircraft's economic advantages, particularly in maintenance and fuel efficiency, as it consumes less fuel by 20 per cent. Alfagaan stated that the aircraft is expected to enter service shortly, and the remaining aircraft from the order are anticipated to be delivered soon. Additionally, senior officials from Rolls-Royce convened in Derby, England, to discuss engine system development and support for Kuwait Airways. The Chairman attributed this achievement to the unwavering support of Kuwait's political leadership, and the collaborative efforts of various national entities. British Ambassador to Kuwait, Belinda Lewis, recently visited the Rolls-Royce production facility in Derby, known for manufacturing engines for wide-body Airbus models, and the Airbus facility in Toulouse, France. She admired the advanced European aviation technology that fosters the creation of environmentally friendly and comfortable aircraft.
