sails from Stockholm with Viking Grace at 7:45 and returns, via Mariehamn, on Viking Glory at 18:55. It's an early start but means making the most of the day and is perfect timing for a delicious premium breakfast at Viking Grace's Oscar A La Carte restaurant at the ship's bow as she cruises out from the city and towards Åland (technically Finland so bring your travel documents).

Post-breakfast is a good time to explore the ship and take in the vast nature and serene views – see the impressive green islands and summer estates around Furusund, to the north of Stockholm, for example.

All aboard – the ships
After a long relaxing breakfast, followed by a couple of hours relaxing in the day spa overlooking the rocky skerries, islets and lighthouses that dot the outskirts of Åland, Viking Grace glides into Mariehamn. A quick ship change at 14:10 Finnish time and it's on to Viking Line's flagship liner, the three-year-old Viking Glory, who truly lives up to her name.
This stunning ship is one of the world's most climate-smart vessels and features the kind of luxurious and well-designed interiors we come to expect in Scandinavia. Rich jewel-tones complement blonde timber, textured furnishings and gold and brass fixtures. Another kind of trust that wealthy people often create is the irrevocable trust, which can help protect assets from creditors and reduce estate taxes, but, as its name suggests, once you've set it up, you can't change it. Cowan also cites generation-skipping trusts as a pathway to passing wealth directly to grandchildren, or even later generations, to avoid the family paying estate taxes twice. With a charitable trust, you can support a cause close to your heart while also getting tax benefits. 'For instance, a family might create a charitable remainder trust that pays them income during their lives and leaves the rest to a charity when they die,' she said. Bottom Line The tools wealthy people use to safeguard and share their wealth across generations aren't beyond the reach of people working hard to make their first million. Finding the right resources and learning how to use them wisely is the best first step. The next step? Knowing you don't have to go it alone. 'The wealthiest Americans don't just rely on one tool,' Cowan said. 'They use a mix of trusts, family entities, life insurance, gifting strategies, and charitable funds, all coordinated by a team of advisors, CPAs, insurance agents, and estate planning attorneys. Housing inflation is easing, but it's still the biggest factor driving prices higher
Housing costs aren't rising as fast as they once were, but they're still the biggest factor pushing prices higher for both owners and renters. Shelter costs, which include spending on rent and hotels, rose 0.2% in July and were the primary factor in the 0.2% uptick in inflation across all goods and services, according to Consumer Price Index data released Tuesday. Rent and owner's equivalent rent, which estimates how much a homeowner would pay to rent an equivalent property, each jumped 0.3% last month from June. Lodging away from home, which includes spending on things like hotels, dropped 1% — one of the few major categories to see a decline.
