Hotel where 3 Revere women were found dead is temporarily closed
Management at the Royal Kahal Beach Resort in San Pedro said it closed on March 7 and they hope to reopen soon.
The hotel would not specify why the hotel closed and would only tell Boston 25 that there was some sort of issue.
In February, three women, described as lifelong friends were found dead in their hotel room at the resort.
The families of Kaoutar Naqqad, 23, Wafae El-Arar, 26, and Imane Mallah, 26, have urged authorities in Belize and the United States to do an investigation to find the truth about what happened.
Belize authorities said there was no sign of foul play and there has also been speculation they may have suffered overdoses, with a news outlet in Belize reporting that gummies and alcohol were found in the room.
The Massachusetts Medical Examiner is conducting autopsies here and we are awaiting results.
Revere Mayor Patrick Keefe warned against a rush to judgment as he pushed for more transparency in the investigation.
The women were young professionals in the medical field and part of a tight-knit community, officials said.
The Department of State issued a Level 2 travel advisory for Belize in December 2024 due to an increased risk for crime.
GoFundMe pages have been set up on behalf of each of the three families linked to the tragedy.

S.F. officials identify 19-year-old woman killed in Bayview double shooting
Officials on Thursday identified the person killed in a shooting last week in San Francisco's Bayview neighborhood as 19-year-old Raynalee Tooks-Robleto. Tooks-Robleto, of San Francisco, died last Monday in a hospital following the shooting, police said. She was shot alongside another person in a vehicle on the 2200 block of Cesear Chavez. Police said first responders transported both people to a local hospital, where Tooks-Robleto died. In a GoFundMe page, loved ones described Tooks-Robleto as a creative person with a passion for rap music, trying new hairstyles and creating nail designs. 'She lived boldly, loved deeply and left a mark on every heart she touched,' the fundraising page said. She may have been reserved at first, but once you truly knew her, you discovered the amazing, kind-hearted soul she was,' Tooks-Robleto's mother declined to comment, according to her employer, who the Chronicle contacted in an effort to reach Tooks-Robleto's relatives. Phone calls and text messages to Tooks-Robleto's mother went unanswered.

Reports: Father of Celtics star Jaylen Brown arrested for attempted murder after Las Vegas stabbing
The father of Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown has been arrested for attempted murder after allegedly stabbing someone in a dispute over a parking spot, according to multiple reports. Las Vegas police tell Boston 25 News that officers responded to a stabbing on South Buffalo Drive around 5:42 p.m. local time Wednesday night to find a man suffering from several stab wounds. The altercation began as an argument over a parking spot, according to reports. The suspect, 57-year-old Quenton Marcelles Brown, allegedly fled the scene but was arrested a short time later, according to Las Vegas Police. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital for surgery. Brown was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on an attempted murder charge, police say. According to multiple reports, Quenton Marcelles Brown, who goes by his middle name, is the father of NBA star Jaylen Brown. Marselles Brown is a former boxer who made his debut in 1989, tallying a 33-18-1 record, according to TMZ. Jaylen Brown has been selected to four All-Star teams since being drafted by Boston in 2016 and was named NBA Finals MVP in 2024 when the Celtics captured their eighteenth NBA championship. A blind man's support dog went missing. Chicago mobilized to get him back.
After Bam Bam went missing, Santiago said he would walk for miles a day, calling his dog's name and passing out fliers. When neighbors heard him calling for Bam Bam, they jumped in to help Santiago file a police report and spread the word. Advertisement Santiago said Bam Bam was grabbed by two people who came into his yard and made off with him on June 5th while the dog was out for an early morning bathroom break. Santiago said he never lost hope or stopped searching for Bam Bam. 'Bam Bam was out there,' Santiago said. Amy Pasalich, a NICU nurse in Chicago, said she saw Bam Bam's story after someone posted it on TikTok. She started a Facebook group and a GoFundMe page in early August with Santiago's blessing, hoping to raise a couple thousand dollars to hire a private investigator. She was stunned to see $20,000 pour in. An unrelated petition collected more than 2,200 signatures to demand more action from the city to help Santiago find Bam Bam. Advertisement 'I think so many people are animal lovers and have bigger hearts than we realize,' Pasalich said. Local news reported on the case, and people continued to post on social media. Volunteers fanned out across the city, passing out fliers and searching for the senior dog. Then on Tuesday night at 8 p.m., two people dropped off the dog at the 16th District police station, Chicago police said. They didn't leave their names or identifying information about themselves but told police they had found the dog nearby. The police contacted John Garrido, a retired officer who founded The Garrido Stray Rescue Foundation with his wife. Officers generally contact Garrido when they get a stray dog at the station, so they sent a picture of the small dachshund mix, which Garrido quickly posted on his rescue's Facebook page. Comments rolled in: 'This dog looks like Bam Bam????' The dog had a microchip, and when police scanned it, a phone number popped up. The officer Googled the phone number and found Santiago's original flier, quickly sending the information to Garrido. 'I immediately called the station,' Garrido said. 'The whole city has been looking for this dog for the last two months.' An officer contacted Santiago, and by 9:31 p.m. Santiago and Bam Bam had been reunited, police said. After many hugs and a night's sleep, Santiago took Bam Bam to the vet for a checkup, bloodwork and nail trimming. Advertisement Detectives have not made any arrests in the case and said they are still investigating. 'This particular case really tugged at our heartstrings,' said Daphna Nachminovitch, senior vice president of cruelty investigations at the animal rights group PETA. 'An older dog with a very special relationship with his guardian - needless to say, we were moved.' PETA offered a $5,000 reward for any information leading to the dog's safe return. The group was planning to launch several billboards in Chicago to help with the search - but now that Bam Bam has been found, they've converted them to say thank you to the city. 'I spoke with Angel a couple of days ago, and it was very clear that the absence of this dog was really impacting him. I think returning this dog might have saved them both,' Nachminovitch said. She learned on Wednesday that Bam Bam, who she called a 'small older gentleman,' had been reunited with his human. 'Waking up to that news this morning was honestly the best thing ever,' she said. Garrido said, for him, this story has two takeaways - get your pet microchipped, and don't mess with Chicago. 'We don't mess around here,' Garrido said. 'We love our pets.'
