Kerala: Congress striving hard to brand CPM ‘anti-Muslim'
MALAPPURAM: After a brief lull, in the wake of M Swaraj's dramatic entry into the Nilambur by-election fray and the overwhelming reception he received in the constituency, the Congress has hit the campaign trail with renewed vigour.
The grand old party first tried to brand the CPM as 'anti-Muslim'. But with P V Anwar also positioning himself along similar lines, Congress leaders have upped the ante, attacking the CPM for 'denigrating Malappuram' district by branding it a hub of anti-social activities.
The tone was set by AICC general secretary K C Venugopal during the UDF election convention. On Wednesday, Leader of Opposition V D Satheesan turned on the heat saying that CPM leaders have been consistently targeting Malappuram. 'The PR agency of the chief minister issued a press release to a national daily in Delhi which said that extremist activities and gold smuggling are thriving in Malappuram. This is the narrative built by the Sangh parivar,' he said. 'The CPM leader assigned to lead the LDF campaign in Nilambur is the party politburo member A Vijayaraghavan. There have been at least a dozen statements from himinsulting the people of Malappuram,' Satheesan said.

He alleged that Ashu colluded with a Vigilance SSP, a known associate from his ministerial tenure, to fabricate a summons and gain sympathy. "This gimmick was a desperate attempt to sway voters in Ludhiana West, but the truth has now come to light. People of Ludhiana see through these antics and are firmly supporting AAP's clean and development-oriented politics," he added. Alleging desperation in the AAP camp, Garg said, "Unable to match AAP's people-centric governance, Congress is stooping to new lows. Their baseless antics are a clear indication of their panic as they face inevitable defeat." Calling for an issue-based election, Garg declared, "Bharat Bhushan Ashu and Congress must stop creating fabricated narratives. Warring calls for police reforms, says Cong won't forgive or forget
Ludhiana: Punjab Congress president and MP from Ludhiana, Amrinder Singh Raja Warring slammed AAP for the Vigilance summons issued to Bharat Bhushan Ashu and described the governance of AAP as a "circus instead of a sarkaar. " Warring, who reached Ludhiana to address mediapersons on the issue, said that the Congress would neither forget nor forgive "any sins of omission and commission being committed by this government." Warring said that the summons issued to Ashu amid the election campaign showed that AAP had admitted its defeat and was now acting in sheer frustration.
