Former Ohio State women's basketball player makes Atlanta Dream opening day roster
Ohio State isn't necessarily known for its female basketball program, but it's been on a very good run lately, with several NCAA Tournament appearances in a row and a few Big Ten titles, with head coach Kevin McGuff steering the ship.
Because of that, we've seen some former Lady Bucks drafted into the WNBA, but it's a different ball game there because of the roster size and number of teams. It's not as easy to make a roster, even if you are a high-round draft pick. But don't tell that to former OSU guard Taylor Thierry, who has made the Atlanta Dream opening day roster after being selected in the third round of this year's draft.
The news was announced via the Dream's social media accounts, and Thierry was one of eleven roster spots that will start play this week.
Thierry averaged double-figures her last three years in Columbus, and played the most of her career last season, averaging 10.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.3 steals on 31.2 minutes of play during the 2024-2025 campaign. Thierry was the only Ohio State player drafted this season, but made it 20 total from the Ohio State program.
Here's to nothing but the best for Thierry as she continues her basketball career at the highest level.

HBO Releases Trailer for 'Surviving Ohio State' Documentary

Source: Getty Images A new HBO documentary is set to pull the curtain back on one of the darkest chapters in Ohio State University's history. Surviving Ohio State , produced by George Clooney and directed by Oscar and Emmy winner Eva Orner, premieres June 17th on HBO and will stream on Max. The project has been in development for years and features interviews with several former Buckeye athletes who say they were abused by Dr. Richard Strauss during his time as a university physician from 1978 to 1998. RELATED: Buckeyes Visit the White House, JD Vance Fumbles Trophy [PHOTOS] The trailer, which dropped June 5th, gives a preview of what's to come: firsthand accounts from survivors, including former All-American wrestler and UFC champ Mark Coleman. The film also features stories from Adam and Michael DiSabato, Will Knight, Al Novakowski, Rockey Ratliff, Dan Ritchie, and Mike Schyck; athletes whose names many in the OSU community will recognize. Strauss died by suicide in 2005. By then, he had already faced years of internal complaints that largely went ignored. Though the State Medical Board of Ohio opened an investigation in 1996, it stalled and was quietly closed in 2002 without any disciplinary action. A deeper, public acknowledgement of the abuse didn't begin until 2018, when new complaints surfaced and the university launched an independent investigation. That uncovered abuse allegations from more than 170 students. RELATED: LeBron James to Receive Honorary Doctorate from Ohio State While Ohio State was not involved in the production, the university remains at the center of the story. The documentary is based in part on a 2020 Sports Illustrated article by Jon Wertheim, who also serves as an executive producer. The film will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York on Monday. D1Baseball predicts the winner of Auburn vs. Coastal Carolina in the NCAA Super Regionals

D1Baseball predicts the winner of Auburn vs. Coastal Carolina in the NCAA Super Regionals Auburn baseball will face its toughest competition of the postseason in Coastal Carolina. Here's how D1Baseball sees this series shaking out. Auburn baseball is set to face its toughest competition this postseason when it hosts Coastal Carolina for the NCAA Super Regionals at Plainsman Park. Campus is buzzing as the Tigers are hosting an NCAA Super Regional for the first time in program history, and a record crowd is expected to witness this weekend's action as Auburn officials have added general admission viewing areas to ensure that Plainsman Park will be an electric atmosphere for the appetizer for next week's College World Series. Will the Tigers feed off their home field advantage? Or will Coastal Carolina spoil Auburn's good time? Experts at D1Baseball shared their prediction for this weekend's series, and are split down the middle on how they see this series shaking out. Out of the 11 writers that submitted predictions, six are projecting the Tigers to advance to Omaha while five are siding with the Chanticleers. Both teams will rely heavily on its pitching staffs to combat the strong sticks that will be on display this weekend. Seven of Auburn's top lineup pieces are hitting over .300 entering the series. The top three batters in Auburn's lineup: Ike Irish, Cooper McMurray, and Chris Rembert, have over 70 hits and double-digit home run totals. Coastal boasts comparable stats with six batters hitting .300 or better, with Blake Barthol and Sebastian Alexander creating the most problems for opposing pitchers. Not only does are the duo hitting above .300, but they have over 10 home runs each and have stolen over 12 bases. Alexander leads the team, as well as the Sun Belt Conference, with 27 swiped bags. Both Tigers and Chanticleers will throw their top pitchers in game one: Cameron Flukey for Coastal Carolina and Sam Dutton for Auburn. Both aces have seven wins on the year and own over 90 strikeouts. Flukey struck out nine batters in last Friday's Conway Regional opener against Fairfield over seven innings, where he allowed two runs on three hits. As for Dutton, he struck out three batters and allowed five runs on seven hits in Auburn's 8-5 win over Stetson in the winner's bracket game last Saturday. Game one between Auburn and Coastal Carolina begins at 8 p.m. CT and can be seen live on ESPN2. ‘He's going to help take our team to the next level' Coach Earley speaks on new hiring

'He's going to help take our team to the next level' Coach Earley speaks on new hiring Texas A&M baseball had a disappointing season. While they showed signs of brilliance, they ultimately lacked the swagger and consistency needed to make a postseason run. After failing to reach the SEC Tournament championship, A&M was left out of the NCAA Tournament. However, they decided to retain coach Michael Earley, with the understanding that changes would be made. The first move was bringing in former Aggie All-American and Dallas Baptist assistant coach Cliff Pennington. This is a great first step for the A&M baseball program as they look to return to Omaha next season. Pennington is regarded as one of the best assistant coaches in the nation and excels in areas where the Aggies need greater attention to detail, base running and fielding. Coach Earley is excited to have Pennington on his staff and spoke about what he brings to the program: "We are thrilled to welcome Coach Pennington and his beautiful family back to Bryan-College Station, I wanted to find the best infield and base running coach in the nation and after many talks with Cliff, it was evident he was the guy and a perfect fit into our culture. He is a top-notch baseball coach and that is proven by his work. His values, character and determination are off the charts. He's going to help take our team to the next level and I couldn't be more excited to work beside him." While this is an elite move, more changes are still needed before fans will feel optimistic about the team heading into the 2026 season. Nevertheless, this is a strong step toward making the Aggies a contender once again.
