India vs England Test: Alyssa Healy's blunt take on Shubman Gill's dream run - 'Ball not really...'
Australia women's team captain
Alyssa Healy
has taken a sly dig at
Shubman Gill
's dream run in the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, where he has amassed 585 runs in two Tests.
Healy praised the Indian captain for what he has done so far in the series, but at the same time, she mentioned that the Duke ball is not doing much.

"I watched a little clip on his dismissals early in his career, and the ball was moving a lot. He got bowled, LBW a lot, like coming back through the gate," Healy said on the Willow Talk podcast.
"That was his technical flaw, and all of a sudden, that's not happening now. So he's gone and worked on that. He's fixed that.
"But also the ball, like, not really doing a whole heap, has probably helped him in that regard too. I am not downplaying this at all because it's been remarkable.
"But yeah, like, kudos to him for making some technical changes knowing that hopefully they'd work in England."
However, former Australia wicketkeeper
Brad Haddin
showered praise on the new Indian captain.
"It's what the best players in the world do. You all come in to start the Test career," said Haddin.
Shubman Gill, Gautam Gambhir shut critics with thumping win over England
"Everyone's got footage of everyone, and sometimes you can get exposed in a certain way, and it's not about getting exposed. It's about how you react to that and come back.
And he's come back world-class. We've seen this for some time coming in the IPL.
"He's been great taking over the captaincy there. He doesn't get flustered. He seems like one of those guys who's got an even tempo through the whole time.
"And that's good for an Indian captain because a lot of the time, you can get caught up in the emotion of what's happening in the game. But what he's done with his team, the big thing as well — no Bumrah."

Sourav Ganguly biopic starring Rajkummar Rao to go on floors in January 2026; actor reveals team needed more time to prep
Rajkummar Rao , who is currently basking in the success of his latest gangster drama 'Maalik', has given fans something else to look forward to. The talented actor recently revealed that the much-awaited biopic on cricket legend Sourav Ganguly, in which he plays the lead, will start filming next year. The actor's update comes as 'Maalik' continues to enjoy a positive run at the box office. With audiences appreciating his intense performance, Rao has now turned his attention towards prepping for his next big challenge, stepping into the shoes of one of Indian cricket 's most iconic captains. Filming pushed to next year Speaking to Mid-day, Rajkummar shared that the team has decided to delay the shoot to ensure every aspect of the film does justice to Ganguly's remarkable journey. The film, which is still untitled, was earlier expected to go on floors this year. However, considering the scale of preparation required, the makers have decided to commence filming in 2026. 'Everybody is taking a lot of care in recreating Dada's life for a theatrical experience. We have pushed the shooting to next year as we needed some time for the prep. It's a big responsibility to play one of our most iconic heroes in cricket," Rajkummar said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Is it legal? Techno Mag Learn More Undo According to Mid-day, the filmmakers want to ensure the script, currently in the final stages of development, captures every detail of the cricketer's storied career. They believe it deserves meticulous treatment, both for the subject's stature and for the expectations of millions of fans. Learning to bat left-handed For Rajkummar, preparing to portray Sourav Ganguly is no small feat. While he is comfortable playing cricket, embodying a natural left-handed batter like Ganguly poses a fresh challenge. 'While I know how to play cricket, being a left-handed batter is a different ball game altogether. The muscle memory is all about being a right-handed batter. So, I need some time to practise," the actor explained. Interestingly, Rajkummar also revealed he has not yet met Ganguly. 'I have deliberately not met Dada yet. I want to meet him when we fully get into prep mode," he added. Fans of both cinema and cricket will no doubt be eager to see how Rao transforms himself into 'Dada' on the big screen. 'It's a huge responsibility' Earlier, in a chat with NDTV, Rajkummar confirmed he would indeed be playing Sourav Ganguly in the film. Opening up about his excitement and nerves, he said, 'Now that Dada has already said it, let me also make it official – yes, I am playing him in his biopic. I am nervous… It's a huge responsibility, but it's going to be a lot of fun."

It was an error of judgement: Shubhman Gill on Rishabh Pant's match changing run out
London: Rishabh Pant getting run out in an attempt to help K L Rahul reach his hundred before lunch on day three of the Lord's Test was an "error of judgement" but it was not done keeping personal glory in mind, India captain Shubman Gill defended both the senior players after his team lost the third to media after the heartbreaking 22-run loss at Lord's, Gill called Pant's run out on 74 at the time turned out to be the turning point of the match as India were on course to take a healthy lead. Eventually, India were only able to match England's first innings score of 387.'We talk a lot about this keeping the team's interest ahead of personal milestones. But I think it was an error of judgment, rather than wanting to score 100 runs. I think he said it would be better if he scored 100 runs before the lunch. A batsman feels pressure at 99 runs." "But at the end of the day, I don't think it was personal and he got run out because of his personal milestone. It was an error of judgment. Rishabh made the call. KL Bhai was running at the danger. I would say it was an error of judgment. It can happen to any batsman.""Having said that, the most important moment for us was Rishabh's run out. At one point, we thought we could take the lead by 50 or 100 runs. We knew it wouldn't be easy to bat on Day 5. The more lead we get in the first innings, the better for us. It puts the other team on the backfoot as well,' said Gill. Gill lauds senior pro Jadeja and tailRavindra Jadeja (61 not out off 181) batted with Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj for close to three hours to take the game deep after India slipped to 112 for eight chasing 193. Captain said it showed Jadeja's invaluableness to the side and the tail had made a conscious effort to hang around in the middle rather than throwing it away.'He is one of the most valuable players in India. The experience that he brings in, the skill set that he brings with his bowling, batting and fielding is very rare. And the kind of composure that he showed today, it was just tremendous to watch.""Batting with the lower order of the tail has been one of the things that we spoke about in the previous two matches. That our lower order hasn't been contributing as much. But I think the character and the courage that they showed was tremendous,' said field tension makes Test cricket more exciting The game was played in high intensity with both teams going at each other especially from end of day three onwards when India clapped for Zak Crawley in sarcasm with some choicest words as the England opener was deliberately delaying the proceedings to avoid facing Jasprit Bumrah. Gill is all for raising the spectacle of Test cricket.'You're giving everything. Mentally, physically, everything. There would be times where there would be a little bit of heat from both sides. But I think that's what makes it so exciting. That's what makes it more challenging.""At the end of the day, there's a lot of admiration within two teams. Both the teams try their best to be able to win a match and perform. There can be moments where there would be some kind of heat. You're in the moment. That's what makes it more exciting,' said he think at any point India had a chance after Jadeja and tail got stuck in? 'When Bumrah Bhai and Jaddu Bhai were batting, every 5 or 6 runs that we were scoring, we could see there was pressure coming on them. Every 5 or 6 runs. And that's all it was.""A small partnership of 30-40 runs could make such a huge difference. And we were quite optimistic when Siraj was batting that if we just go up to the second new ball and if we have 12 or 15 runs with the second new ball, you never know. A couple of boundaries here and there and then you're right back on the top,' he said.

27 all out! West Indies record lowest Test score in 70 years as Starc, Boland unleash fire
Mitchell Starc was on a roll as he took 6 scalps to dismiss the West Indies for 27 runs in the second innings to win the match by 176 runs for his team. The hosts were chasing down a total of 205 in the series finale when they had a sudden collapse in the batting order which led to the second lowest total in Test history, and the lowest in 70 years and in a day night Test match. After fighting hard in the series, the final match was an opportunity for the West Indies to win the series against the WTC Finalists but a splendid spell from Starc along with an hat-trick from Scott Boland made sure that was not to be the case. 26 - New Zealand vs England, Auckland, 1995 30 - South Africa vs England, Gqeberha, 1986 30 - South Africa vs England, Birmingham, 1924 Speaking after the match about his performance, Starc said, 'We didn't think things would start going our way with the ball today until the sun went down a bit,' "But anyway our bowling attack has been pretty much on the money throughout the series," he added. Notably, Starc was playing in his 100th Test match as he ripped through the West Indies top order from the first over itself, taking the first wicket of John Campbell on the first ball. The pacer also went on to acquire the record of fastest five wicket haul in a Test match, getting to the landmark in just 15 balls. In the end, Starc ended the match with figures of 6 for 9 and also became the fourth Australian to go past 400 wickets in Test matches Meanwhile, West Indies skipper Roston Chase was heartbroken by the result as he stated, 'Heartbreaking to be in a position like this. It has been recurring for the whole series, makes it all the more disappointing. It is quite easy to assess - the bowlers kept us in all along, batters never really clicked,'
