Days after the deadly Air India plane crash claimed 270 lives, a report claiming to reveal the findings of the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau has made rounds of social media, especially WhatsApp.
The Press Information Bureau's fact-checking unit has dismissed this report as "fake."
The fake report claims that the AAIB probe revealed that a double engine failure was the reason behind the Ahmedabad plane crash.

Furthermore, the WhatsApp forward message also claims that Air India flight 171 has headed to London's Heathrow airport, which is false. Based on the information issued by the airline itself, the flight took off from Ahmedabad for London's Gatwick airport.
The post also claims that a total of 243 people were on board the flight, which is false. A total of 242 people were on board the Gatwick-bound flight, which included 12 cabin crew members and 230 passengers.
Following the plane crash in Ahmedabad, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau stated it will be carrying out a probe into the incident.
Along with AAIB, investigators from the US, UK and Boeing will also be looking into the matter to ascertain the reason behind the deadly plane crash.

As of now, none of the agencies has released their reports. Both black boxes of AI flight 171 have been recovered. The second black box contains the voice recorder for the Boeing 787 aircraft and the first one holds the flight data.
Air India's flight 171 took off from Ahmedabad's Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International airport on Thursday - June 12, for London's Gatwick Airport. The flight, crashed seconds after its takeoff, killing 241 passengers and cabin crew on board. The only sole survivor of the flight was a 40-year-old British national who was seated near the emergency exit.
The plane crash into a student hostel of BJ Medical College, killing 29 people on ground and taking the total death toll to 270.

Over the next three days, the fraudsters kept escalating demands, extracting Rs 6.9 lakh from her in multiple instalments. "I borrowed from relatives and friends, and now I may have to sell our shop to repay them," she said. Nobody has been arrested yet. Officers said they tracked down the bank accounts and are in the process of tracing the WhatsApp and Telegram numbers used to communicate with the woman.

This follows concerns that the dogs scavenged human remains, hindering recovery and identification and compromising investigation integrity . The May 12 crash killed all but one of the 242 people on board the London-bound Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner and at least 38 on the dogs around the crash site are in a bad condition and they are scavenging for food, said a senior police official. "The search operation is still on, and there are several human remains still being found every day. We have noticed that the dogs on site are eating the human remains and entering the crash site," he said. "We have to rehabilitate them for their protection as well as to maintain the sanctity of the investigation."Some of the dogs also appeared distressed, prompting authorities to act swiftly. Officials said the priority is to ensure that the animals receive proper care while also preventing any contamination of the crash Rajput, head of the Cattle Nuisance Control Department of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation , said his department is involved. "We have so far rescued four dogs from the crash site and brought them to our shelter at Danilimda so that they don't disturb the site," Rajput told ET. Personnel from his department have been working at the site from search teams continue to pull out human remains from the debris of the BJ Medical College hostel building destroyed in the crash and the surrounding areas. They recovered a body on Sunday, three days after the Monday, at least 15 human remains were found at the site. These discoveries highlight the challenges for search teams in ensuring complete and respectful recovery of the human remains. Scavenging animals complicate victim identification and debris clearing. The process of identifying remains is painstaking, often taking up to 72 hours for DNA matching, due to their condition.

T'puram: A 57-year-old Poojappura resident fell victim to an online scam, losing Rs 19.90 lakh to fraudsters posing as stock market experts. After searching online for profitable shares, he was contacted by individuals claiming to represent 'Institution Buyers', an alleged govt-approved agency. They lured him with promises of guaranteed returns and added him to a WhatsApp group which shared fake success stories. Over 20 days, the victim transferred funds in 10 transactions, only to realize he had been duped. The victim reported the incident to city cyber police, who launched a probe into the fraudulent scheme. TNN
