Julia Roberts' nepo baby niece Emma compares offseason in the Hamptons to Stephen King's The Shining
The 34-year-old Scream Queens alumna — whose secret hobby was recently revealed — opened up about the years she has spent at the popular seaside town for her latest cover story for Modern Luxury.
The star has often been spotted in the Hamptons, whether that be at a star-studded event or enjoying lowkey outings.
Emma — who is the niece of Julia Roberts — recalled 'coming out here all the time' to visit her mom Kelly Cunningham who now lives in the Hamptons full time.
'Fifteen years ago, in the winter, it was like The Shining sometimes out here,' the actress told the outlet.
'And now it's like summer all year, which is so beautiful to see . . . I've fallen more and more in love with it as the years have gone on — especially after having my son. I see the Hamptons in a whole different light through his eyes, which is so magical.'
During her summers in the Hamptons, Emma brings along a few good books to read while accompanied by her son Rhodes.
She shares the four-year-old with ex, the actor Garrett Hedlund, whom she dated from 2019 until their split in 2022. Roberts is now engaged to the actor Cody John.
'I love Sagg Main Beach. It's kind of my routine in the summer — I'll take my son to camp and bring my book with me to the beach and just sit by myself for an hour,' she said. 'There's nothing like it.'
Roberts sounded enthused about the people and 'community' in the Hamptons during her conversation.
'It just feels more like a community way of life out here — which, to me, is always more inspiring. It makes me want to read more, makes me want to cook more,' she admitted.
Emma has been an avid reader for many years, and even launched her own book club Belletrist in 2017 with her pal Karah Preiss.
Earlier this month, she made an appearance at the Avaline x Stella McCartney gathering in East Hampton.
The mom-of-one dressed for the occasion in a white halter-styled minidress, as well as a pair of white shoes with chunky soles.
Her reddish locks were parted in the middle, and effortlessly flowed down past her shoulders in light waves.
And last month in June, Emma put on a stylish display in Montauk, which borders the Hamptons.
She donned a black, sleeveless dress with a fashionable belt around the waistline while stopping by the Michael Kors x Montauk Yacht Club event.
Aside from enjoying the summer weather in the Hamptons, the beauty has a number of projects up her sleeve, including the upcoming romantic comedy Marriage Material which is also starring comedian Matt Rife, per Variety.
The movie is produced by BuzzFeed Studios, and the studio president Richard Alan Reid stated back in May: 'Marriage Material is a fresh, fiercely funny romantic comedy with an undeniable heart.
'Emma and Matt are a comedy duo that audiences worldwide will enjoy,' Reid continued. 'We're delighted to be partnered with Capstone Studios, and believe that with its bold humor, irresistible charm, and modern twist on love, Marriage Material is poised to become a global crowd-pleaser.'
Last year, she also appeared in the 12th season of American Horror Story alongside Kim Kardashian.
'Getting to work with Kim was so much fun because we passed each other growing up in Calabasas together,' Emma told Modern Luxury.
The pair are now working on the upcoming Netflix series titled Calabasas, which the two stars are executive producers on, per Deadline.
'That led us to another project we have in development, a TV show called Calabasas, based on the memoir If You Lived Here You'd Be Famous by Now,' Roberts said. 'We're turning that into a show with Netflix, so that will be really fun.'
In an interview with Elle from February, Emma discussed the importance of having balancing when it comes to working in the entertainment industry.
'I think it's really important to have a life outside of work — to read things and have experiences that aren't work related. I think this actually makes the work better when you pick it back up again.'
The star added, 'I really try to give my personal life as much love as my work life.
'As someone in the industry, I think it's easy to self-isolate for the sake of a job, but losing touch with the real world is where you get yourself in trouble,' she said.
And while enjoying being a mom to son Rhodes — who turns five in December — Emma also talked about her self-care.
'Self-care for me is about unplugging from electronics,' she said. 'I love to do bath and bed routines with my son and then take some time for myself. That usually involves a face mask and a book.'

Michelle Obama thought Barack was ‘weird' and ‘nerdy' before they met
Michelle Obama reflected on her initial attraction to her husband, Barack Obama, during an episode of her podcast, IMO. Her first spark of attraction occurred during a phone call, finding his voice "sexier" than the image she had formed of him. Upon meeting in person, she was pleasantly surprised to find him much more attractive than his photograph and impressed by his cool, self-assured manner. Despite her professional reservations about dating him, Barack eventually persuaded her to go on a date, leading to their 32-year marriage and two daughters.

Aubrey Plaza's new biopic role as Heidi Fleiss leads Hollywood madam to break her silence to warn the star
Aubrey Plaza 's fans were surprised on Wednesday to learn that the White Lotus actress had been tapped to portray the infamous Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss in an upcoming biopic. And now Fleiss, 59, is speaking out about the 41-year-old actress' plans to play her in The Heidi Fleiss Story. The former madam told the Daily Mail she was 'pleasantly shocked' that the Parks And Recreation actress will be playing her in the biopic. 'It sounds fantastic,' Fleiss said on Wednesday. 'I've never met her and never even heard about it, but wow!' But she also shared a note of caution for Plaza in the wake of her legal and reputational setbacks. 'She's got her work cut out for her,' Fleiss said. 'You know, I hate to have to live with me, and now she has to play me.' However, Fleiss added: 'She's going to be great.' Fleiss has been open about her early career, in which she briefly worked as a prostitute. After she was mentored by another madam running a prostitution ring in Beverly Hills, Fleiss went solo in 1990 and launched her own prostitution ring catering to wealthy clients in Hollywood. But the organization was short-lived, as Fleiss was arrested in 1993 on charges of pandering, tax evasion, and money laundering after prosecutors accused her of laundering $1.5 million through a series of shell companies with falsified records. She was eventually convicted of federal tax evasion charges in 1996. She was sentenced to seven years in prison, but only served 20 months of her sentence at a federal correctional institution before she was released to a halfway house, where she began the rest of her sentence, which included a requirement to complete 370 hours of community service. When asked what advice she would give to Plaza, Fleiss said: 'You know what? I'm confused by the things that I do, so I don't know how to give anyone advice.' Plaza will be stepping into the role after acclaimed turns in season two of HBO's The White Lotus, as well as the crime drama Emily The Criminal and the coming-of-age dramedy My Old Ass. She shared a note of caution for Plaza. 'She's got her work cut out for her,' Fleiss said. 'You know, I hate to have to live with me, and now she has to play me'; pictured on Celebrity Big Brother UK in 2010 Plaza will next be seen in the crime comedy Honey Don't!, which is written and directed by Ethan Coen and co-written with his wife Tricia Cooke. The actress spent time out of the spotlight earlier this year after her husband, the filmmaker Jeff Baena, died by suicide. She made her first public appearance after the tragedy by briefly appearing on the Saturday Night Live 50th Anniversary Special in February, during which she donned a tie-dye shirt as a tribute to her late husband, as it was similar to the tie-dye shirts they wore at their wedding in 2021. Fleiss also gave Daily Mail an update on several projects she's working on, including a new site and app for content creators that she hopes will rival OnlyFans. It's called The List by Heidi Fleiss, and the former madam is already in talks with web developers to create it. 'OnlyFans take 20 percent of what these creators make, and very few are making money because they take so much,' Fleiss said. 'Most of them aren't making $3 million a month — they make $2,000. Creators should have more control of the money they make from their content. The List will be more favorable for the creators.' Fleiss, who lives in Pahrump, Nevada, says her priority remains on taking care of her precious birds and continuing her rescue efforts. She currently has between 30 to 40 Macaws and smaller parrots, many of which had been neglected by prior owners or breeders, and she hopes her efforts to care for them can counteract negative forces in society. 'Humanity has had one purpose, and that is to destroy everything as quickly as possible. That's our only purpose,' Fleiss claimed. 'That's how I truly see humanity, and I've always been misanthropic. But with these birds, it's so much more.' Since her release, Fleiss has been open about her past work running a prostitution ring, though she has largely stayed mum about the identities of her high-powered former clients, even as some of their identities were hinted at during her salacious trial. In 2010 she made a foray into mainstream television when she appeared on the UK's Celebrity Big Brother. In recent years, Fleiss has been the owner and manager of a private airport in Pahrump that caters only to small aircrafts. But the former Hollywood madam is also stepping back into the entertainment industry by filming a documentary directed by Andrew Renzi, who was a producer on the HBO reality series Paul American, which delves into the exploits of brothers Jake and Logan Paul.

Lauren Sanchez ditches the heels after struggling to stay on her stiletto-clad feet during treacherous walk across a pebble beach - as she joins husband Jeff Bezos, Leonardo DiCaprio and Vittoria Ceretti for another double date in Ibiza
ditched her heels on Tuesday as she headed out in Ibiza - after struggling to stay on her stiletto-clad feet during a treacherous walk across a pebble beach on the island the day before. The beauty, 55, was joined by her billionaire Amazon CEO husband Jeff Bezos, 61, for lunch on the party island before heading to their mega luxury yacht. Just a day after bravely teetering over rocky terrain in sky-high stilettos, Lauren kicked off her shoes and went barefoot on the beach and boardwalk. The couple were joined by friends, including the Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio and girlfriend Vittoria Ceretti along with the former Vogue Editor in Chief Edward Enninful. For the day out in the sunshine Lauren looked stylish and showed off her youthful figure in a brown bikini top and crochet white skirt. She added a trendy sunhat and leather bag to her look as she held hands with her husband who wore a smart white linen shirt, chinos and beach sliders. It comes after Jeff and Lauren, who married in Venice just two months ago, enjoyed a day out on the Mediterranean island of Formentera. They were seen relaxing on a tender boat as they were taken to shore ahead of a day spent exploring the smallest of Spain 's Balearic islands. And just days after their double dinner date in neighbouring Ibiza, the couple were again joined by Hollywood star Leo, 50, and his Italian model girlfriend Vittoria, 27. Meanwhile model Vittoria caught the eye in a white racerback vest worn over a patterned bikini, while covering her bikini bottoms with a black and white sarong. As always, Leo covered his face with a medical face mask akin to those worn at the height of the coronavirus pandemic as he departed their tender and headed onto land, wearing a white t-shirt and khaki shorts. Fortunately for Leo and his party, they were only in danger of catching a suntan as they ventured out on the island, where summer temperatures are currently soaring. The appearance came just two days after the group enjoyed a double dinner date in Ibiza after spending time of Jeff's $485 million superyacht. Lauren was determined not to let the terrain dictate her style choices as she appeared to struggle to keep her footing on the rocky shore of Ibiza on Sunday night. However despite the uneven terrain, Lauren didn't forgo her stiletto heels as she clung to Jeff's hand. Joined again by Leo and Vittoria, Lauren oozed style in a cream summer mini dress which she paired with the nude heels. She accessorised the look with a matching cream bag and dark shades as she made it onto land. Meanwhile her husband kept it simple in a white polo shirt, grey trousers and white trainers, slightly more apt for the rocky shore. Yet Leo's girlfriend also joined Lauren in her choice of heels as she was seen teetering in a black pair of kitten heels. The Italian model kept it simple in a black vest top and low waisted black skirt with mesh detailing. Pairing the look with a small black bag, she held hands with the Hollywood actor also wore all black. They held hands after the lunch out Vittoria didn't walk next to Leo They then made their way onto the bigger yacht Leonardo appeared to wish to keep a low profile as he concealed his face with a black face mask and baseball cap. The foursome were also joined by the former editor-in-chief at British Vogue, Edward Enninful. The gang made their way for their Italian-influenced, contemporary Mediterranean stylish dinner at Amalur Ibiza. Jeff and Lauren were previously seen welcoming Leo and Vittoria aboard their superyacht, Koru, earlier in the day on Sunday. The pair know their way around the ship, having previously joined the couple and bevy of stars for a trip last summer in Sardinia. It comes after they were seen in Formentera Just days after their double dinner date in Ibiza, the couple were again joined by Hollywood actor Leo, 50, and his Italian model girlfriend Vittoria, 27 (Pictured) They were seen relaxing on a tender boat as they were taken to shore to enjoy a day exploring the smallest of the Balearic islands Jeff kept it casual in a tight navy v-neck T-shirt and cream drawstring chinos while Lauren opted for a burnt orange bodysuit and white crochet skirt, paired with a woven sun hat Jeff could be seen leaving the tender boat with Lauren hidden behind him, while Vittoria was spotted at the back of the boat Meanwhile model Vittoria (left) donned a white racerback vest over a patterned bikini, and covered her swimwear bottoms with a black and white sarong while Leo wore a white t-shirt (right) Leo covered his face with a medical face mask as he departed the tender and headed onto land The Amazon founder and his former journalist wife, who married in a lavish wedding in June, headed to the Balearic island of Formentera with friends This time, however, the quartet were living it up in Ibiza. They were casually clad for the day at sea, with Leonardo sporting a plain white T-shirt and shorts, as well as his trademark baseball cap and shades. Vittoria's model figure was on display in a blue strapless top that she paired with black yoga pants. Meanwhile Jeff and Lauren opted for clashing prints, with Lauren layering a printed kimono over a bikini while Jeff wore tropical swimming trunks with a navy T-shirt.
