A 34-year-old man was found guilty of sexually assaulting a teenage girl while he dated her mother, Michigan prosecutors said.
'Questionable acts' by David Ryan Sampson of Flint occurred while the girl and her mother lived with him, Genesee County prosecutors said in an April 7 news release. The girl was under 10 years old when this behavior began, officials said.
When she was a teen, Sampson would give the girl marijuana and alcohol, then sexually assault her, prosecutors said. The assaults occurred at the man's home and in public areas such as a lake.
County Prosecutor David Leyton said the mother's boyfriend 'took advantage of a young girl who had looked up to him as a father figure,' according to the news release.
The situation came to the forefront in 2022, when a friend's father overheard the victim confide in her friend about the sex acts with her mother's boyfriend, officials said. The father asked the teen, at the time sitting in the back seat with his daughter, who was involved in the assault, prosecutors said. The teen named Sampson.
Authorities and the girl's mother were notified, and Sampson was eventually convicted of three counts of criminal sexual conduct involving a victim between the ages of 13 and 16, officials said.
Leyton's sentencing is scheduled for May 2. Prosecutors say he faces up to life in prison.
Flint is about an 80-mile drive northwest from Detroit.

Ex-police chief warns Chicago cops will get hurt because Mayor Johnson won't help ICE
A retired Chicago-area cop expressed frustration with Mayor Brandon Johnson's refusal to cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). 'What's happening in Chicago and actually the state of Illinois, but I'll talk to you about Chicago, is they're under orders from the mayor not to cooperate with ICE. In fact, he famously said that the Chicago Police Department will never assist ICE, even if it's constitutionally required,' Tom Weitzel, who was chief of police in Riverside, Illinois, told Fox News Digital. Weitzel served as police chief in the Chicago suburb, less than an hour outside the city, from January 2008 to May 2021. In July, Johnson vowed that his city's police 'will not ever cooperate with ICE.' He also recently called ICE raids 'terrorism,' and described Trump's America as looking like 'if the Confederacy won.' 'He's had his city attorneys go and brief the administrative staff or Chicago PD, and then they're going to roll call to tell their officers how they cannot assist,' Weitzel said. 'And the dangerous thing with that is that he's telling them to never assist. So even when ICE would need more police officers because they're under attack, they're being assaulted, maybe they're being battered. He's directed his police department to not cooperate, which is unheard of. I've actually never heard of that.' 4 Immigrants detained by Federal Agents are put into a van outside the Intensive Supervision Appearance Program office where ICE had detained people on June 4, 2025 in Chicago, Illinois. Getty Images The retired police chief said he thinks morale among law enforcement in the city is low. 'And morale is terrible because the media keeps slamming them,' Weitzel continued. 'You have the local politicians slamming the police, and you have the mayor, the chief of the whole government for the city of Chicago. He, if anyone thinks he supports police or policing, they are crazy. The mayor is about as anti-police as they come. And you know, nobody should be surprised because he ran on that campaign, and he got elected.' Chicago has seen over 51,000 illegal immigrants from the southern border settle into the city since August 31, 2022. 4 Tom Weitzel, former chief of police in Riverside, Illinois. Riverside Police 4 Federal agents hold back protesters while removing detainees on June 4, 2025, from a Intensive Supervision Appearance Program office run by Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Chicago's South Loop. TNS 'As someone who spent 37 years in law enforcement, starting out as a patrol officer for the Chicago Zoological Park Police, in Brookfield, Illinois, and holding various other positions in law enforcement, including being a detective sergeant, patrol sergeant, assistant chief of police, acting chief of police, and finally, chief of police,' Weitzel said he is concerned for the well-being of the Chicago PD. 'They're going to get police officers hurt, not only ICE agents, federal agents, but local police that are going to be injured, because I can tell you that when there's an attack on them that you've seen that, throughout the country, that some of their caravans have been attacked, the local police are coming to help,' he said. Weitzel added that, 'Regardless of what the mayor says, and those officers are there not to do ICE enforcement or federal enforcement, they're there to assist ICE and prevent them from getting injured. So you're going to see his own local police officers be injured in the line of duty because of a completely stupid statement like they will never assist ICE.' Fox News Digital reached out to Johnson for comment, but did not immediately receive a response.

Los Angeles councilman slapped with corruption charges for allegedly embezzling $800K with wife
An embattled Los Angeles city councilmember was slapped with new corruption charges after he and his wife allegedly embezzled $800,000 meant for housing and public transit. Councilman Curren Price was formally charged Tuesday with two counts of corruption for allegedly voting to approve the city's housing authority and metro service for fat state and federal grants — in exchange for nearly $1 million in payouts to his wife's consulting firm between 2019 and 2021. Price was already in hot water: The pol, endorsed by Mayor Karen Bass, was facing charges of grand theft, perjury, and conflict of interest for votes on projects that allegedly resulted in $150,000 in kickbacks to his wife, Del Richardson. 5 LA Council Member Curren Price, accused of corruption. Los Angeles Times via Getty Images 5 Curren Price and his wife Del Richardson leaving court. Los Angeles Times via Getty Images 'Embezzling public funds and awarding contracts for your own financial gain is the antithesis of public service,' Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman said in a statement. Prosecutors claim the LA City Housing Authority paid Richardson's company — Del Richardson & Associates — more than $600,000 over a nine-month period in 2019 and 2020. In the same period, Price voted to approve the department for $35 million in federal grant money and $252 million from the state. From 2020 to 2021, LA Metro paid Richardson's firm around $200,000; meanwhile, Price 'brought and voted in favor of' a motion to award LA Metro $30 million in public funds, the prosecutors allege. Price also allegedly funneled $2 million in funds to a housing nonprofit he was serving as CEO for during the COVID-19 pandemic, the DA added. Price's attorney Michael Schafler dismissed the new allegations as a political hit job based on cherry-picked voting records. 'They have gone back as much as 6 years, combing through thousands and thousands of votes, to find a couple more allegedly conflicted votes, hoping that the public will overlook the fact that there is no evidence whatsoever that Councilmember Price was aware of the alleged conflicts when he voted for the agenda items,' Schafler said in a statement to the Los Angeles Times. But the DA's office claims Price's own staffers flagged the votes as potential problems. Price was elected in 2013 and re-elected in 2017 with the endorsement of Mayor Karen Bass. 5 LA Councilman Curren Price and his attorney in court. Curren Price / X The charges against him add to a mountain of scandals within Los Angeles' government. In 2023, the same year Price faced his first batch of charges, former Councilmember Jose Huizar pleaded guilty to racketeering and tax evasion, and veteran city politician Mark Ridley-Thomas was sentenced to federal prison for a bribery scheme in which he sought favors for his son from a university dean in exchange for political favors. Last year, Mayor Bass appointed fellow progressive Janisse Quinones as head of the water and power department, paying her a roughly $750,000 salary — almost double what her predecessor made. And in February, Bass fired Fire Chief Kristin Crowley for her bungled response to the Palisades Fire – less than three years after Crowley's predecessor resigned amid allegations of racism and sexism in the upper echelons of the fire department.

Tory Lanez's Appeal To Add Alleged New Evidence In Megan Thee Stallion Shooting Case Denied California Court of Appeals
Source: Getty Images / Tory Lanez / Megan Thee Stallion Welp, Tory Lanez just suffered another L in his effort to get out of jail. Canadian Yosemite Sam, aka Tory Lanez, attempts to overturn parts of his convictions and prison sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion have crashed and burned after the California Court of Appeals denied them. Everyone's new favorite legal journalist, Meghann Cuniff, reported that the California Court of Appeals rejected a significant portion of Lanez's appeal, seeking to add new evidence, on Tuesday, August 13. Lanez's legal team sought habeas petitions to add alleged new evidence, including his driver's failure to testify and a new statement from Kelsey Harris's security guard. Both were denied. We care about your data. See our privacy policy. While this is a massive blow to Lanez and his efforts to get out of jail, his main appeal will still move forward; he and his legal team will have to prove his case without that so-called new evidence. This is also the latest legal issue Lanez has faced. He was also ordered to pay Megan Thee Stallion's legal fees due to his unruly behavior, where he was disrespectful to lawyers questioning during a deposition. The reactions to these latest developments hit the timeline swiftly, with the Hotties taking the moment to laugh at the rapper/singer, real name Daystar Peterson, current plight. ' Patchy head Tory Lanez appeal DENIED (laughing emoji) that l0ser staying where he belongs…another win for Megan,' one post on X, formerly Twitter, read. Lanez's fans and his dad can't blame Roc Nation for this either. You can see more reactions to Tory Lanez taking another legal loss in the gallery below.
