Roy Keane launches passionate rant about why he hates BARBECUES in long list of things Man Utd legend can't stand

The Sun21-05-2025

ROY KEANE has added BARBECUES to his list of pet hates after launching into a passionate rant.
The Manchester United legend let rip at the idea of outdoor cooking on the latest episode of the Overlap.
Keane famously dislikes many popular things, ranging from prawn sandwiches and ABBA to players swapping shirts.
But the latest item to end up in his crosshairs is the humble barbecue.
With Brits enjoying good weather throughout spring, many have been turning to an al fresco-way of dining.
From sizzling sausages to chargrilled chicken and burnt burgers, everyone loves the smells and aromas that come with an outdoor barbie.
Even Keane's beloved United are getting into the habit, with the club forgoing a traditional trophy parade in favour of a barbecue at Carrington if they beat Spurs in tonight's Europa League final.
However, Keane showed he was not having any of it as he took aim at the concept of cooking on something other than an oven.
And he left fellow stars Ian Wright, Jill Scott, Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher in stitches with his attack.
Keane raged on the Overlap, brought to you by Sky Bet: 'Barbecues are overrated though, aren't they? ******* barbecues!
'They're the worst ever, honestly. Smoke everywhere, honestly, barbecues…
'Queuing up for food that's been there 20 minutes, buns and *****, forget it.

'Worst ever. I like a burger but not a barbecue.'
Turning to Ian Wright, Keane then quipped: 'Are Arsenal having a parade for finishing second?'
Fans found Keane's comments hilarious as they reacted on social media.
One said: 'Roy makes this show.'
Another declared: 'Nothing better than a good BBQ!'
One noted: 'Wise up Roy.'
Another added: 100% correct.'

Spurs star makes feelings on Postecoglou exit clear in classy tribute

The former Celtic manager's time in North London was brought to an abrupt end on Friday when it was announced that he would not continue at Spurs, despite leading them to Europa League glory just over a fortnight ago. Read more: Richarlison, who has played 55 times in navy and white under Postecoglou, took to Instagram to make his feelings clear: "Mister, massive thanks for helping me out and believing in me during one of the trickiest periods of my career and my life," he said. "Everyone who loves the Spurs will remember that Big Ange always bags trophies in his second season. We've made history!Cheers and good luck on your journey! I'll always be rooting for you." Postecoglou himself penned an emotional farewell letter to the Spurs supporters. He said: "When I reflect on my time as Manager of Tottenham Hotspur, my overriding emotion is one of pride. "The opportunity to lead one of England's historic football clubs and bring back the glory it deserves will live with me for a lifetime. Sharing that experience with all those who truly love this club and seeing the impact it had on them is something I will never forget. "That night in Bilbao was the culmination of two years of hard work, dedication and unwavering belief in a dream. There were many challenges to overcome and plenty of noise that comes with trying to accomplish what many said was not possible. "We have also laid foundations that mean this club should not have to wait 17 more years for their next success. I have enormous faith in this group of players and know there is much more potential and growth in them. "I sincerely want to thank those who are the lifeblood of the club, the supporters. I know there were some difficult times, but I always felt that they wanted me to succeed, and that gave me all the motivation I needed to push on. It's important to acknowledge the hard-working people at Spurs who gave me encouragement on a daily basis. "And finally, I want to thank those who were with me every day for the last two years. A fantastic group of young men who are now legends of this football club, and the brilliant coaches who never once doubted we could do something special. "We are forever connected. Audere est Facere."

Huge chart-topping singer 'becomes latest star to sign up for Celebrity Great British Bake Off' alongside Molly-Mae Hague and JoJo Siwa

One of the UK's biggest singers has reportedly joined the next series of Celebrity Bake Off. Rag 'N' Bone man, 40, who rose to fame with hits like Human and Giant, is set to swap the mic for a mixing bowl when filming kicks off later this year for the upcoming Stand Up To Cancer special. A source told The Sun: 'He's really excited about getting in the tent - he can't wait for his son to see him baking on TV! 'He's watched the show - now he's ready to impress the judges'. MailOnline has contacted representatives of Rag 'N' Bone Man for comment. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Rag 'N' Bone man, who rose to fame with hits like Human and Giant, is set to swap the mic for a mixing bowl when filming kicks off later this year for the upcoming Stand Up To Cancer special The hitmaker whose real name is Rory Graham, previously revealed that Bake Off was the only reality show he would sign up for, after admitting he was actually a dab hand in the kitchen. During lockdown, the BRIT Award winner found himself falling in love with baking while spending time with his young son. Back in 2021, he shared with Sky News: 'My son enjoys cakes, like a lot of three-year-olds do. 'So we got into making all sorts of different kinds of cakes, I've kind of become quite good at baking, which is not necessarily a bad thing.' And when quizzed about taking part in Bake Off, he said he was a fan of the show and despite not liking the thought of appearing on reality shows, would make the exception. He said: 'If they want me, I'll be there. 'I don't really like the idea of reality shows, but I reckon I'd give Bake Off a go. If Big Narstie can do, I can do it.' The news comes just days after it was claimed that fashion influencer Molly-Mae Hague, comedian Babatúndé Aléshé and Dance Moms alum JoJo Siwa are also set for the iconic Bake Off tent. Molly-Mae, is set to make her come back to reality TV on the Channel 4 show for the first time since Love Island. The influencer, 26, has been placed firmly in the spotlight since her break-up last year with Tommy Fury, which was chronicled in her Prime Video documentary, Molly-Mae: Behind it All. A source told The Sun earlier this week: 'She will be a great addition to the line-up and bring a healthy helping of Love island glamour to the tent. 'Molly's now one of Britain's biggest TV stars and has seen her fame steadily grow since she first appeared on the ITV dating show back in 2019.' While JoJo is also said to be going on the show after taking Celebrity Big Brother by storm earlier this year. The Dance Moms star, 22, is said to have been scooped up by Channel 4 to film the celebrity spin-off in the midst of her huge surge in popularity in the UK. A source told The Sun: 'This is a bit of a coup for the Bake Off because Jojo is currently one of the most talked about young stars on TV right now. 'She's barely had time to catch her breath, leaving CBB last month amid huge media attention and heading straight into another huge show this month.' They added that it's a 'fantastic gig for her' because although she already has a fanbase over here, the baking show will also introduce her to a wider British audience. Comedian Babatunde Aleshe is also said to be on the star-studded line-up, after his stint on I'm A Celeb in 2022. A TV insider told The Sun: 'Babatunde is guaranteed to be hilarious and will no doubt have plenty of banter with Paul, Noel, Caroline and Alison. 'He's not known for his prowess in the kitchen so there's sure to be some panicky moments laced with the good humour he's known for. 'His energy on the Gogglebox sofa has always been pure positivity and very infectious, and bosses are hoping he'll bring that to the tent.' The celebrity special of the beloved Channel 4 baking show is set to take place later this year, with hosts noel Fielding and Alison Hammond returning, alongside judge Paul Hollywood.

Thomas Frank 2/9 favourite to replace Ange Postecoglou as Tottenham manager - with Marco Silva and Oliver Glasner also potential candidates

Brentford boss Thomas Frank is the heavy favourite to replace Ange Postecolgou as Tottenham manager following the Australian's sacking on Friday. Postecoglou, who won the club's first trophy for 17 years in the Europa League just a matter of days ago, lasted exactly two years in charge before being let go. Speculation is already rife regarding who will replace the outgoing coach, with a number of current Premier League bosses on the shortlist, but Frank the current odds on favourite. The Brentford manager is currently 2/9 with Sky Bet to take the reins in north London in a move that would bring an end to his seven-year spell with the Bees. Elsewhere, Marco Silva is priced at 9/2 to be the next Spurs boss, while Crystal Palace's Oliver Glasner is listed at 9/2. For those looking for longer odds, former Barcelona star and boss Xavi Hernandez is priced at 10/1, while Michael Carrick, who was sacked by Championship Middlesbrough this week, is 14/1. In terms of some more ambitious bets, the likes of Gareth Southgate can be picked up at 33/1, while Steven Gerrard is 50/1. Next Tottenham manager odds: Thomas Frank - 2/9 Marco Silva - 9/2 Oliver Glasner - 9/1 Xavi Hernandez - 10/1 Michael Carrick - 14/1
