Wrongful death case against Hampden County Sheriff's Office reach settlement
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Lawyers representing the estate of a Vermont woman who died in the custody of the Hampden County Sheriff's office have settled with the department.
The estate of Madeline Linsenmeir will receive a $600,000 payment, which will be placed in trust for the care of her son. In 2018, Linsenmeir was held at the Western Massachusetts Regional Women's Correctional Center in Chicopee after being arrested by Springfield police.

The estate's lawyers say Linsenmeir was suffering from a potentially deadly heart infection and had complained to both Springfield police and later jail staff about chest pain, but was ignored. She was taken to the hospital days after arriving in jail when she had been found unresponsive in her cell.
Under the settlement, the sheriff's office also must implement policy changes at the jail, including improved staff training and better treatment of people with opioid use disorder.

2 teens arrested after stolen car pursuit in San Bernardino County
Two teen carjacking suspects were arrested after leading deputies on a pursuit in San Bernardino County. The male suspects were only identified as a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old due to their minor status. On June 10, Victor Valley sheriff's deputies responded to a carjacking on the 13000 Block of Cholame Road in Victorville at 3:14 a.m. The teen boys had threatened to shoot the victim before stepping into the stolen car and speeding away. Deputies spotted the vehicle on Palmdale Road, heading east toward the 15 Freeway. When they tried to pull the teens over, they refused to yield, leading authorities on a pursuit. The chase continued for around 10 minutes before the suspects ditched the car and fled the area on foot. They were later found near Palmdale and Sequoia Roads and arrested for carjacking, vehicle theft, failure to yield and more. They were booked at High Desert Juvenile Detention and Assessment Center. Senator Markey said he plans to file an amendment to the Senate reconciliation bill to block Republicans' attempt to prevent states from regulating AI in the next ten years. Senators in both parties have expressed an interest in regulating artificial intelligence. New state health clinic opens in Wyoming County
EATON TOWNSHIP, WYOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A new state health clinic is now officially open in Wyoming County, making health care services more accessible to people who may not have insurance. The Wyoming County State Health Center held its official ribbon-cutting Wednesday afternoon. The move from their old location to Hunter Highway makes it more centrally located and more accessible for patients. The state-run clinic offers free vaccines, STL testing, tuberculosis testing and treatment, and much more for people who qualify. Police looking for suspect in attempted Luzerne County robbery, chase 'The nurses that work here have a vast and incredible experience across all parts of health care, and so they're here to help people,' Department of Health Secretary Dr. Debra Bogen told 28/22 News. 'It's great because you get to know your community partners, so we're able to help people understand where they can go for services and just keep the conversation flowing,' Community Health Nurse Amanda Moyer said.
