St Helens back Jack Welsby has scored four tries for England, and said: "I'll go 3-0 [England]. Whitewash," when asked for a Rugby League Ashes prediction.
Welsby knows all about upsetting the Kangaroos, with his St Helens side picking up an improbable victory over Penrith in the 2023, Welsby scoring the opening try that day.
The Three Lions have not beaten Australia since 2016, and are looking to avenge the loss of the 2017 World Cup final.
Australia test will be 'another level'
The 24-year-old star, who can play full back, half back, centre and wing, told SunSport: "I'll be nervous I reckon.
"I don't get nervous at all for Super League games anymore, but you still get tingling feelings when you play against Wigan and Warrington.
"I imagine it's going to step up another level when Australia are in town at Wembley.
"I know they'll be just as nervous coming over here playing, and they're the favourites, they've got to come up and face us.
"They'll be expecting to win, but so are we."
Despite the nerves, Welsby can't wait to get started.

He added said: "I think we've been saying it for a while now, excited, it feels like we've been waiting a long time for this to come around.
"We've sort of been building as a team and as a country for this moment.
"We want to grab it with both hands, so [we are] excited and ready."
Welsby's club side St Helens also know about the spoils of victory over Aussies, as they upset Penrith in 2023.
And the 24-year-old is ready a raring to do it again.
He added: "As a Super League competition, we've had some good success against the Australian champions in the last two attempts.
"Hopefully we can channel that and put it into practice again come October 25 at Wembley."
Playing for England is the 'pinnacle of the sport'
Welsby has played a handful of times for the Three Lions since his debut in 2022, and has called it "the pinncale of the sport."
In terms of where a series win could rank amongst his career achievements, Welsby said: "playing against the best team in the world in Australia, if we can get a result over them, it would be very memorable."
Although Welsby called them the 'best team in the world,' he has belief in England's chances, saying: "I think since the Samoa semi-final in the World Cup, we've gradually got better and better.
"We've added new people to the squad, who add a lot to us, so there is going to be new faces again who have to step up, and become even better.
"I believe we can do that and upset the odds."
He also told the new faces to relish the opportunity to play for England, saying: "I just think back to when I came up, and about how nervous I was for that first test against Samoa.
"As soon as I got out on the field, I just let loose and enjoyed it.

"When I speak to the players now, I can see a bit of nerves in the changing rooms, I just remind them what they've been doing all year in a tough competition
"The reason they've got to be here is because of the way that they've been playing
"Waney [Shaun Wane] doesn't pick people who aren't in form or who doesn't deserve to be there, so they've got to be confident when they step up."
When asked for a prediction, Welsby said: "I'll go 3-0. Whitewash."
The three test series between England and Australia is set to take place in October this year, with the first test coming LIVE from Wembley.

Gary Lineker sends seven-word message to BBC chief after what he saw on Match of the Day

Gary Lineker has sent a message of praise to the BBC after tuning into the first Match of the Day programme aired since his departure, which Mark Chapman hosted on Saturday evening Gary Lineker was full of praise when asked about the return of Match of the Day. The flagship show returned on Saturday for the first time since Lineker's exit. ‌ Mark Chapman took up hosting duties, but other than that, it was very much a familiar Match of the Day set-up. The trio of Chapman, Kelly Cates and Gabby Logan were announced by the BBC in January as Lineker's replacements, with the long-time lead presenter ultimately cutting ties with the organisation in light of sparking an antisemitism row. ‌ Alex Kay-Jelski, who was hired as the Beeb's director of sport in April last year, mooted changes to the show after Lineker's departure. However, the 64-year-old was pleased that little had been altered with a new era ushered in, commending his former boss for not fixing something that wasn't broken. ‌ Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast alongside ex-BBC colleagues Alan Shearer and Micah Richards, Lineker opened up about how he felt watching the show he hosted for 26 years return to our screens. "Alan, you were doing Match of the Day last night. I must say, I enjoyed it," he admitted. "I went out for dinner, then I came home in time to watch it. "Thought it was really good. Chappers did a great job. There was a lot of talk, wasn't there, that they were going to change things, and you know what it's like, you get a new guy in, new head of sport, thinking he wants to do this and wants to do that. "But, 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it.' I think that was very much the most sensible decision, and I thought the programme was great." Host Chapman was joined by established pundit Shearer and a new addition in Manchester United icon Wayne Rooney on Saturday's first show of the new Premier League season, and Lineker approved of the latter's presence. ‌ "I thought Wayne Rooney did really well, as well as yourself, Alan, so good analysis in there," Lineker stated. "It was so nice watching it, holding a glass of wine!" Having taken over from Des Lynam in 1999, Match of the Day had long been synonymous with Lineker, but the ex-England striker claimed it wasn't strange now watching on from home. "It wasn't weird, really, no. I was quite relaxed," he continued. "I was thinking, 'I haven't got a three-and-a-half-hour journey at the end of the show.' ‌ "I really enjoyed watching it. It is the first time that I have watched Match of the Day on a Saturday night for I don't know how many years. "The only time I ever missed the show was if I'd take the odd Saturday off to have a holiday, and I'd go somewhere, so it had been so long since I'd watched it." Rugby player banned for telling female referee to ‘get your baps out'

An Ossett RUFC player has been banned from spectating or participating in rugby union for 32 weeks after shouting 'get your baps out, ref' at a female official while watching one of his club's matches. Casey Johnson, an Ossett player since the Covid pandemic, admitted the incident, which took place during a match this year, with a Rugby Football Union panel finding him guilty of conduct prejudicial to the interests of the union and the game in a hearing in June. The panel found that the severity of the incident – 'the phrase was abhorrent and highly offensive' – made it a 'top end' offence and initially imposed a ban of 42 weeks on Johnson, who said that he was 'intoxicated' at the time and 'had no real explanation for why he shouted the phrase at the match official'. The referee, whose identity is kept anonymous in the written verdict, described how she had been 'shocked' at the verbal tirade and how her parents, who were among the crowd and heard the remarks, were 'heartbroken and angry'. Johnson's subsequent remorse and his acceptance of the charge 'at the earliest opportunity', with a clean disciplinary record, meant that the panel reduced the suspension by 33 per cent, to 28 weeks. The panel noted how Johnson 'appreciated at the time that what he had said was inappropriate and had intended to apologise to the match official at the end of the game but was advised by friends not to do so given his intoxicated state'. Johnson, who was described as a 'positive influence' by a committee member at Ossett, was also forced to pay £125 in costs. Although Johnson admitted shouting 'get your baps out, ref' from the touchline during the set-up of a line-out, he denied adding 'show us your boobs'. However, the panel were content that 'made no difference to the appropriate sanction'. The panel added: 'It goes without saying that such a phrase shouted to a woman has no place in society, including rugby, and it plainly goes against rugby's core values. It has the very real potential to impact on the participation of women in rugby (whether as match official, player, coach or spectator) and cannot and must not be tolerated.' Johnson received a suspension 'from playing, coaching and spectating from 1st August 2025 to 13th March 2026', which does not include midweek training. The panel added how the referee 'handled the situation impeccably' and how 'her ability to continue to referee the game and deal with the aftermath of the incident [has been] hugely impressive'. In her written testimony, the referee praised the response of both clubs in identifying Johnson and taking swift action. 'I was approached by the Ossett coach after the game who told me that he had been made aware by my dad during the game of the nature of the comments that were being made,' she wrote. 'The coach profusely apologised and informed me that they had sent someone over during the game to speak to the spectators. After the game as I was walking to the changing rooms I was approached by the spectators' friends who apologised on his behalf... and also apologised to both of my parents at the end of the match. 'Once changed, I entered the clubhouse and approached the Ossett coach to get the name of the spectator. The coach returned two minutes later with their head coach, who had been watching the game, and the spectator's name. The head coach apologised on behalf of the spectator and the club and condemned the spectator's behaviour and called it unacceptable, 'disgusting', and assured me it did not represent the values of the club. 'Whilst I don't condone what happened, and I wouldn't wish it upon any match official, I am glad that what started off as an uncomfortable and negative experience was made significantly better with the reactions and support that I've received both post-match and from people within the refereeing community.' In conclusion, the panel also acknowledged and commended the approach taken by both clubs. 'Female participation in rugby (whether playing, coaching, refereeing or spectating) is fundamental to the values of rugby union and a vital element of the game,' the panel wrote. 'That participation is put at risk by actions such as those of [Johnson] here and it is the responsibility of everyone involved in rugby to take whatever steps are necessary to ensure that such actions are removed from the game.'

Man Utd 0-1 Arsenal - the fans' verdict

We asked for your thoughts after Sunday's Premier League game between Manchester United and are some of your comments:United fansRichard: I agree with Ruben Amorim - we were clearly the better team and deserved something from the game. In the end, it was a story of two goalkeepers. It's brutal to say, but it's evidence that winning the title by 2028 will need a different person between the For the first time in a while, it was a strange feeling after defeat. We played well and should've probably taken at least a point from this game! The new signings have definitely showed why they were brought in, but we still need to strengthen that midfield before the window closes - otherwise it will always be a mismatch. Regardless, let's move on to the next match. This is a long season but the signs are United were superb. Huge improvements from the ineptitude of last season. Terrible from our keeper, although could have been a foul. Arsenal got very lucky - particularly with the obvious penalty for Cunha. Better days are definitely ahead. We all need to hold our nerve and back our charismatic and capable manager. Arsenal fansMatt: Don't judge too soon - only look at the league after the first seven or eight games. Better to start slow while picking up points than peak too early. Martinelli offers little threat and Saka still hasn't hit his best form since his return from injury last season. But we'll come Same old, same old. If Gyokeres is going to play up front they have to change the way they get the ball to him. He needs balls he can run on to because he's a proper centre-forward. He's not going to come to get the ball so they have to deliver All in all, a good result. Three points at Old Trafford is never easy. Saka and Martinelli are under-performing and becoming very predictable. We need to adapt to the strengths of our new players. But I still feel very optimistic for the future. It's early days yet but I can see the potential, especially with young players like Max Dowman coming through.
