Hawaiian DL prospect gets invite to Michigan State opener vs. WMU
A Hawaiian defensive lineman in the 2027 class has picked up an invite to the Spartans' season-opener against Western Michigan.
Stone Ah Quin of Honolulu announced earlier this week that he received an invite from Michigan State to attend the Spartans' season-opening game against Western Michigan. Quin announced the invite via a post on his social media X account.
Quin is an unrated defensive lineman in the 2027 class. He is listed at 6-foot-4 and 300 pounds, and plays for St. Louis School.
Michigan State is one of six schools to extend Quin an offer, with the Spartans handing him an offer in May, according to 247Sports. He also holds offers from California, Colorado State, Hawaii, San Diego State and UNLV.
Quin didn't note in his post if he plans on attending the game or is just simply thankful for the invite. His recruitment by the Spartans will be something we want to monitor over the fall and into next year.

Michigan State football loses recruiting staff member to Nevada
A familiar face in the recruiting department has departed Michigan State for a new position in the college football world. Austin D'Armond has left his role with Michigan State to become the Director of Player Personnel & Recruiting Strategy at Nevada. During his time at MSU, he held the role of Director of Player Personnel/Defense working on the Spartans recruiting efforts on the defensive side of the ball. Prior to joining Jonathan Smith and company in East Lansing, D'Armond was a member of Smith's staff in Corvallis at Oregon State for two seasons in a similar recruiting role. Getting an undergraduate and graduate degrees from Texas, D'Armond spent two years as a recruiting intern, and upon graduating, he became a player personnel graduate assistant for the Longhorns. Michigan State has already filled some of the void he left, adding Michael Morales from Texas to the staff, and there is an expectation that the Spartans could be making one or two more hires in it's recruiting department, that is led by Director of Recruiting and Player Relations, Michael Doctor. Notre Dame places two players on The Athletic's top-101 Freaks List of college football
A 6-7, 366-pound left tackle who vertical jumped as high or more than five of the wideouts who were at this year's combine?!? A 6-3, 338-pound DT who clocked almost 21 MPH? A 6-4 1/2, 208-pound WR who broad-jumped 11-9? Meet the 2025 Freaks List: Every year The Athletic drops a list of its top-101 college football freaks (subscription required), players who might not be the best across the nation, but have incredible testing numbers and this season Notre Dame saw two of its players being included. First it was defensive end Bryce Young, who during his freshman season flashed multiple times, most notably on special teams where he blocked three kicks. The legacy checked in at No. 44, as Bruce Feldman wrote that despite adding 'almost 30 pounds since arriving last year, but still managed to vertical jump 35 1/2 inches and broad jump 9-5. He benched 335 pounds and cleaned 355.' Young has the look of a second-year breakout player, and many, including myself believe that is the case. The second Irish player to make the list was tight end Eli Raridon at No. 85. While he hasn't been healthy enough to stay on the field for extended periods, the junior is a physical specimen. Feldman says that Raridon 'displayed plenty of explosiveness this offseason, vertical jumping 34 inches and broad jumping 9-10. He's also quite strong, benching 350 pounds, power cleaning 335 and squatting 535.' While offensive tackle Anthonie Knapp didn't make the list, Feldman still mentioned that he 'made a compelling case for a spot.' With a 30 inch vertical and benching 425 pounds, it looks like the 6-foot, 5-inch and 300-pound tackle just barely missed the cut.
