Back in June, SunSport exlcusively reported that Kudus had changed his agent in a bid to get his move after it became clear that both club and player would go their separate ways this summer.
Chelsea offered Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, whom they valued at around £30million, in addition to a proposed £20million fee for Kudus.
West Ham rejected the offer, valuing Dewsbury-Hall at £20m, which meant both clubs never came close to agreeing on a fee.
Sources say that personal terms with Kudus was never an issue as Chelsea were one of the clubs that had come close to bringing him to the Premier League in 2023 before he joined West Ham from Ajax.

Tottenham, however, came in with an immediate £50million offer to West Ham, who were able to drive up the price to £55m and agree a sale.
Both West Ham and Kudus solemnly accepted that it was best to part ways given the fee and fact that he was never going to get the chance to play on the right hand side of attack as that spot was reserved only for club captain Jarrod Bowen.
Chelsea would also eventually sell Dewsbury-Hall to Everton for a fee closer to their £30million valuation.
Kudus, 25, has had a stellar start to life as a Spurs player, providing two brilliant assists on his official debut to help Spurs to a 3-0 win against Burnley at the weekend.

The Lilywhites lost captain Son Heung-min this summer but the arrival of Kudus has helped soften the blow of losing such a key figure in the dressing room.
In other transfer news, Spurs are keen to reach an agreement with Crystal Palace for midfielder Eberechi Eze.

The England star is open to the move, but Sunsport has been exclusively told that he will continue to respect his Palace contract until he is told otherwise, following his appearance against Chelsea over the weekend.
Eze helped the Eagles win the FA Cup last season and was again instrumental in their victory over Liverpool to lift the Community Shield at Wembley last weekend.

Man United exile in international wilderness as he is left out of latest squad, with pressure mounting to find move away
A Manchester United outcast has been left out of his international squad once again as he continues to push for an Old Trafford exit. The Argentina squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers in September was announced on Monday and Alejandro Garnacho 's name was nowhere to be seen. Garnacho was placed in Ruben Amorim 's five-man 'bomb squad' at the start of the summer alongside fellow exiles Jadon Sancho, Antony, Marcus Rashford and Tyrell Malacia. He was told by Amorim to find a new club in May, after the winger was unhappy to start on the bench in the Europa League final. The 21-year-old is understood to have agreed personal terms with Chelsea but the Blues and the Red Devils are still a way apart on a fee. Garnacho was not included in Amorim's squad for Sunday's season opening 1-0 defeat to Arsenal while a large poster of the winger was defaced by fans outside Old Trafford. Reigning world champions Argentina will face Venezuela and Ecuador next month without him. Garnacho made his international debut in 2023 and was included in Lionel Scaloni's squad throughout most of 2024. However, he was dropped for the qualifiers against Brazil and Uruguay in March and Chile and and Colombia in June.

The real reason why Marc Guehi snubbed Oliver Glasner after Crystal Palace clash
Marc Guehi appeared to snub Oliver Glasner after Crystal Palace's draw at Chelsea fuelling speculation about his future at the club. However, it appears not all was as it seemed as there was a valid reason why the England international walked away from his manager. A week after leading Palace to glory in the Community Shield, Guehi starred as the Eagles were held to a goalless draw in their Premier League opener on Sunday. But the centre-back's time at Selhurst Park may be coming to an end as he has entered the last year of his contract and has been strongly linked with a transfer to Liverpool. Reports suggest the 25-year-old has already agreed personal terms with the Reds but the two clubs are still apart in their valuation of the Eagles captain. Metro's new weekly football newsletter: In The Mixer. Exclusive analysis, FPL tips and transfer talk sent straight to your inbox every Friday – sign up, it's an open goal. Following Sunday's game at Stamford Bridge, Guehi applauded the away end and was making his way back to the tunnel when Glasner called out to him. The defender seemed to look up and notice his manager before ignoring his request to speak with him and continue toward the tunnel, leaving Glasner visibly baffled. Some speculated that the incident may have had something to do with the ongoing transfer saga, but, according to News Shopper, that is not the case at all. 🗣️ "It's like the new garlic bread" Roy Keane's thoughts on that Oliver Glasner and Marc Guehi interaction at full-time of Chelsea vs Crystal Palace… — Sky Sports Premier League (@SkySportsPL) August 17, 2025 Instead, it is said that Guehi was randomly selected to undergo a routine drug test immediately after the full-time whistle. Having already greeted the travelling fans, the Three Lions star was keen to get on with the test and what appeared to be a tense moment between player and manager was actually just a bit of miscommunication. Glasner will no doubt clarify what happened when he speaks ahead of Palace's Conference League play-off first-leg against Fredrikstad on Thursday. Palace face the prospect of losing both Guehi and Tottenham target Eberechi Eze before the transfer window closes but Glasner has praised the pair for their professionalism despite the ongoing rumours. More Trending 'Ebs and Marc, there has been a lot of noise about these two players in the last week. Everyone could see the performances against Liverpool and today, they were 100 per cent aligned with this team and Crystal Palace,' the Austrian said. 'As long as they are 100 per cent committed, they will play as they are so good. I watched them all week in training, I spoke to them almost daily, maybe more than my kids and wife, but it's been worth it to talk to them. 'They didn't just show they are great footballers, but they are great people and that's what I expected.' For more stories like this, check our sport page. Tottenham captain Cristian Romero signs new contract until 2029
The 27-year-old Argentina centre-back, who had been heavily linked with a move to Atletico Madrid earlier this summer, was named as Spurs' new skipper on Wednesday following the departure of Son Heung-min. Romero had entered the final two years of his previous deal, but has put pen to paper on new terms running until 2029, the PA news agency understands. Romero, who starred in Tottenham's Europa League triumph in May, said: 'I'm very happy here in the club. For me this club is the best in the world. A post shared by Tottenham Hotspur (@spursofficial) 'The last two weeks, first captain and now signing the contract with the club, for me it's a fantastic decision. My message to the fans is thank you for the amazing support every day and every match. 'After winning the Europa League, it's like a special season now. In football, sometimes good moments, bad moments. The most important thing for me is to stay all together. We want to win. Maybe why not win again this season? Another trophy with the club is important for everyone.' This news will be a major boost to new Tottenham boss Thomas Frank, who fielded several questions on the topic of Romero's commitment in Friday's press conference – days after he named him captain. 'I see a very big and very good player. What I like about him and why I have chosen him as captain is his leadership qualities on the pitch,' Frank explained. 'There is a big respect for him from the players. Off the pitch as well he also sets the standards. A post shared by Tottenham Hotspur (@spursofficial) 'The staff have said to me they've never seen him train that well. He's in a very good place. I see a player that will want to lead the team and push the team.' Centre-back Romero first joined Spurs in 2021 on loan from Atalanta before the transfer was made permanent a year later. The 27-year-old has been critical of the club previously, pointedly saying last December that the spending of Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea every year were 'things to imitate' because then Tottenham 'could easily be competing for the title every year' with the 'structure' they have in place. He also sent out a cryptic message on social media in the wake of Ange Postecoglou's dismissal in June and praised his achievements 'despite the many obstacles that always existed and always will exist'. A post shared by Cristian Romero (@cutiromero2) However, Romero proved his commitment by playing a crucial role in Tottenham's Europa League triumph in May, which ended a 17-year trophy drought for the club. Romero captained Spurs in the 1-0 victory over Manchester United in the final and also wore the armband in both semi-final legs against Bodo/Glimt. The World Cup-winner was subsequently named Europa League Player of the Season after success in Bilbao and the first club trophy of his career added to an incredible haul of silverware at international level. After Romero helped Argentina to victory at the 2022 World Cup either side of Copa America triumphs, he will aim to lead Tottenham to further trophies under Frank. We are delighted to announce that Djed Spence has signed a new, long-term contract with the Club ✍️ — Tottenham Hotspur (@SpursOfficial) August 18, 2025 Full-back Djed Spence has also signed a new deal at Spurs. Versatile full-back Spence only signed fresh terms last October until 2028, but has been rewarded for a fine breakthrough campaign at Tottenham. Spence made 35 appearances in the 2024-25 campaign, after eventually being handed his full debut in December – two-and-a-half years after he first joined the club. After Spence was deemed a 'club signing' by former Tottenham boss Antonio Conte in 2022, he had mixed loans at Rennes, Leeds and Genoa, but forced his way into Postecoglou's plans and has quickly gained the trust of Frank.
