MACC Ready To Send Officers To Denmark
KUALA LUMPUR, May 29 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is ready to send its officers to Denmark to enhance their knowledge and study best practices in corruption prevention.
Its Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki shared this in a Facebook post on the commission's official page, following a visit by Danish Ambassador to Malaysia, Kristine Vangkilde Berner, to the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya today.
'I am greatly encouraged by the International Division of the Danish Parliamentary Ombudsman's intention to visit Malaysia to explore potential institutional collaboration.

With improved infrastructure, including the Pan Borneo Highway, easing travel across the region, Wan Junaidi warned against turning such routes into 'racing circuits', stressing that 'it is better to arrive late than never'. Turning to broader development, Wan Junaidi reaffirmed the state's commitment to narrowing the urban-rural divide, citing significant infrastructure upgrades under the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030). These include the rebuilding of more than 200 dilapidated schools and the construction of 16 bridges, along with the ongoing expansion of the Pan Borneo Highway and coastal road networks. 'These efforts are not just about better connectivity, but also about improving quality of life in rural areas, from road access and clean water to telecommunications,' he said. Wan Junaidi also highlighted the state's focus on education, noting various initiatives to boost literacy and academic achievement, including early intervention programmes and the establishment of community-based learning centres. He urged parents to prioritise their children's education, describing it as 'key to a brighter future'.

Delivering his remarks at the 22nd Shangri-La Dialogue here, Anwar said economic openness is not only a pathway to growth but also a stabilising force in international relations. 'It is a source of equilibrium, both between nations and within them, to address pressing issues such as poverty, social inequities, or even the digital divide. 'Open markets create the kind of mutual exposure between nations that encourages caution, not confrontation,' he said. The prime minister cautioned that disruptions to economic openness could undermine investor confidence and destabilise financial flows. He noted that ASEAN leaders have expressed concern over the growing threat of unilateral actions, retaliatory tariffs, and the risk of global economic fragmentation. The ASEAN leaders' statement on global economic and trade uncertainty also reaffirmed ASEAN's commitment to an open, predictable, and rules-based trading system -- not out of convenience, but because it is 'existential.' Anwar noted that, as open and export-driven economies like Malaysia, any fragmented trade can result in increased costs, lower resilience, and depressed investment.

WRUR Programme Proves Effective Bridge Between Government, People
ALOR GAJAH, May 31 (Bernama) -- The 'Wakil Rakyat Untuk Rakyat' (WRUR) programme is seen as playing a crucial role as a bridge between the government and the people in efforts to resolve various issues and provide for the needs at the grassroots level. Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said the four WRUR series held so far have proven the effectiveness of the programme, with nearly 1,000 public complaints received and the majority of them resolved within two weeks. 'The public is definitely more confident in the existing government's administration and our concern as administrators, as we will also continue to serve the people as best we can. 'With this bridge, namely the WRUR, we can ensure that every need of the public can be addressed… this effectiveness is by the people for the people,' he told reporters here today. He said this after officiating the closing of the Lendu State Legislative Assembly WRUR programme, which was also attended by Lendu assemblyman Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali. Elaborating, Rauf said the achievements of the WRUR programme implementation also encompassed various aspects, including development, education and welfare, based on the complaints that were resolved. He added that this was through various upcoming projects aimed at improving infrastructure, public facilities, road and drainage repairs, flood risk management and public welfare at every WRUR series, including in opposition areas. 'For the Lendu state assembly WRUR, we successfully carried out 145 projects and attended to 269 complaints, of which 183 issues were resolved within two weeks, while the rest are still being addressed. 'This includes an allocation of RM2 million that was announced for the flood retention pond rehabilitation project for the Solok Duku and Durian Daun areas, as well as several other facilities for the local community,' he said.
