WRUR Programme Proves Effective Bridge Between Government, People
Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said the four WRUR series held so far have proven the effectiveness of the programme, with nearly 1,000 public complaints received and the majority of them resolved within two weeks.
'The public is definitely more confident in the existing government's administration and our concern as administrators, as we will also continue to serve the people as best we can.
'With this bridge, namely the WRUR, we can ensure that every need of the public can be addressed… this effectiveness is by the people for the people,' he told reporters here today.
He said this after officiating the closing of the Lendu State Legislative Assembly WRUR programme, which was also attended by Lendu assemblyman Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali.
Elaborating, Rauf said the achievements of the WRUR programme implementation also encompassed various aspects, including development, education and welfare, based on the complaints that were resolved.
He added that this was through various upcoming projects aimed at improving infrastructure, public facilities, road and drainage repairs, flood risk management and public welfare at every WRUR series, including in opposition areas.
'For the Lendu state assembly WRUR, we successfully carried out 145 projects and attended to 269 complaints, of which 183 issues were resolved within two weeks, while the rest are still being addressed.
'This includes an allocation of RM2 million that was announced for the flood retention pond rehabilitation project for the Solok Duku and Durian Daun areas, as well as several other facilities for the local community,' he said.

Dr Zaliha and Low also exchanged views on women-led urban leadership, the clean energy transition, carbon pricing, strengthening coastal resilience and addressing the challenges of an ageing society. Regarding her meeting with Bima Arya, Dr Zaliha said they spoke about bold ideas for the region's future, including the vision of ASEAN 2045 with easier travel across borders, smarter waste and logistics systems, and stronger digital connections between cities. 'I also shared the Federal Territories' role as a pioneer of the CHASE City concept under Malaysia MADANI and extended an invitation for Jakarta to join this journey,' she said. Additionally, she said the discussion touched on opportunities for cooperation in the digital economy, such as a cashless society, as well as empowering youth and women through flexible work infrastructure, including cloud kitchen initiatives currently being implemented in the Federal Territories. Dr Zaliha also invited Indonesia to join the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 celebration to strengthen ties between the people of both countries and reinforce the network of ASEAN cities towards an inclusive, sustainable, and prosperous shared future.

Sarawak premier calls for peace in South China Sea at ASEAN-China meeting
KUCHING: Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has emphasised the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the South China Sea. He made the remarks during a gala dinner linked to the 24th ASEAN-China Senior Officials' Meeting on the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea. 'This region is our shared home and together we have the responsibility to ensure it remains a sea of peace and prosperity,' he said. Foreign Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Amran Mohamed Zin was also present at the event. Abang Johari highlighted the enduring relevance of the Zone of Peace, Freedom and Neutrality (ZOPFAN) inspired by historical leaders. He pointed to Sarawak's diverse ethnic groups as proof of Malaysia's unity in diversity. 'Sarawak's natural beauty, rich biodiversity and cultural heritage reflect the harmony between its people and nature,' he added. MACC, Malaysian Embassy In Indonesia To Join Forces On Anti-corruption Initiative
PUTRAJAYA, Aug 13 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Embassy in Jakarta expressed its commitment to working with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on an anti-corruption education initiative for Malaysian officials and students in the republic. MACC Community Education Division (PenMas) director Datuk Ahmad Nizam Ismail said the matter was discussed during his courtesy call on the Malaysian Ambassador to Indonesia, Datuk Syed Mohamad Hasrin Tengku Hussin, in Jakarta yesterday. He said MACC welcomed the initiative and pledged its full commitment to ensuring the programme's success. 'Among the programmes planned are the Integrity Talk, the Corruption-Free Pledge, and the Integrity Seminar on Public Fund Management by the National Association of Malaysian Students in Indonesia (PKPMI), in conjunction with the Malaysian Embassy in Jakarta's Integrity Day 2025, which will be held in September,' he said in a statement today. Ahmad Nizam said the meeting provided an ideal platform for both parties to exchange views and was organised following the application by Education Malaysia Indonesia director Dr Hasnul Faizal Hushin Amri.
