Spirit Mixer produces 25-1 Northumberland Plate surprise
Bred in the purple as a son of Frankel and owner Jeff Smith's Group One-winning mare Arabian Queen, Spirit Mixer was delivered with his challenge in the home straight and knuckled down to get the better Dancing In Paris by a neck under a delighted Rob Hornby, who travelled north for a solitary ride.

'He was never a 25-1 shot in my head. I've won big races on him before and he was coming in off the back of a really good run at Goodwood,' said the jockey.
'I could have gone to Windsor and had four or five rides, but I wanted to come and ride him. He's a horse that's done no harm to me and it's fantastic to get that sort of reward today.
'There's a great crowd here today – I don't usually make the trek up north this far! I put it in my Sat Nav and it's just over five hours to get home, so this will make it a bit easier.'
He added: 'He's such a cool horse, he's seven years old now and a beautifully-bred homebred of Mr Smith's. He's just thriving and really enjoying his racing at his tender age.
'The race went pretty smooth. I thought I was jostling for the lead early enough, but he got into a battle and outstayed them then inside the last furlong.
'It's important to be riding winners on Saturdays in these big races and I've been fortunate enough to win a July Cup in these colours (on Alcohol Free), they mean a great deal to me, as does riding winners for Kingsclere.
'What a joy he is to own and to train and to ride.'

Doechii pulls out of London's All Points East and Bristol's Forwards Festival
Grammy Award-winning rapper Doechii has pulled out of her upcoming performances at two major UK festivals. Organisers of London 's All Points East festival and Bristol's Forwards festival have announced just days before the event that the star will no longer be performing. The 27-year-old, whose real name is Jaylah Hickmon, will also no longer perform at France's Rock En Seine festival in Paris, with no reason given for the rapper's absence at the events. An All Points East statement read: 'Unfortunately Doechii will no longer be able to perform at All Points East on Saturday, August 23. 'We'd like to apologise to any disappointed fans and hope to welcome Doechii back to All Points East in the future.' The Florida-born artist was due to perform at All Points East on Saturday, followed by Forwards on Sunday, while her Rock En Seine performance was due to take place on Thursday. The All Points East statement continued: 'We're very sorry to announce that Doechii will no longer be performing at her upcoming shows. 'She is an incredible artist, and, like all of her fans, we were hugely excited to see her on stage. 'All Points East has an amazing line-up including Raye, Tyla, Jade, Jyoty, Nao and many more, and it's set to be a truly unforgettable day.' A replacement for the star has not been announced by either of the UK festivals at the time of writing. A statement from Forwards read: 'We are very sad to announce that Doechii will not be performing at her upcoming shows. 'She is an incredible artist and we were as excited as you were to bring her to our hometown of Bristol. 'We are so proud of this year's Sunday line-up, with three amazing female headliners in Jorja Smith, The Last Dinner Party and Olivia Dean gracing our stage, as well as a plethora of other amazing musical talent across the day.' Ticketholders have not been told whether they will be able to get a refund for the events following the cancellation. The rapper first became known for her track Yucky Blucky Fruitcake, when it went viral following its release in 2020. Doechii achieved worldwide fame in 2024 with the release of mixtape Alligator Bites Never Heal, which includes the songs Denial Is A River, Catfish and Nissan Altima. Months later, the record gave the rapper her first Grammy Award for best rap album, with nominations for best rap performance and best new albums at the 67th award ceremony. She is also behind the viral hit Anxiety, which was released after a YouTube video of Doechii singing the song, which samples the 2011 hit Somebody That I Used To Know by Gotye and Kimbra, resurfaced.

Lowry, who is among the 30 players who have qualified for the Tour Championship, can only watch from afar, though he seems a certainly for one of Donald's picks should that be required and the same goes for Sepp Straka, who currently sits seventh on the list, as well as Ludvig Aberg (ninth) and Viktor Hovland (tenth). Which, of course, would leave just one spot up for grabs and that's what is going to make the four days of action at The Belfry in particular fascinating but also with one eye being kept on East Lake and we will come to the latter but not before focusing on the former. With all due respect to Penge, even though he has won twice on the DP World Tour this season and finished in a tie for second behind Chris Gotterup in the Genesis Scottish Open, this Ryder Cup is probably too early for him, especially when he's had very little experience of playing on big stages in the US, while the likes of Smith, Norgaard, Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen and Kristoffer Reitan will also be more likely contenders for the 2027 contest at Adare Manor in Ireland than this one. Which brings us to the real dark horse heading into the final week and I am referring, of course, to Harry Hall, the flat-cap wearing Englishman who has had an incredible start to his professional career and, in doing so, has put himself in the frame for a captain's pick. Cox/Getty Images On the back of 11 successive top-30 finishes, including three top tens, on the PGA Tour, Hall has made it through to the Tour Championship and, if he can have a big week in Atlanta even if it won't earn him any points, then Donald could be facing a big headache before announcing his selections on Monday, 1 September. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad For what it's worth, I reckon Fitzpatrick, based on his greater experience, will be the player who gets the nod for the final spot and, if that's the case, then the only change would be an ironic one, of course, because it would mean that Rasmus Hojgaard will be replacing his twin brother. Keegan Bradley's playing role is still the big question for Americans As for the Americans, Scottie Scheffler, J.J. Spaun, Xander Schauffele, Russell Henley, Harris English and Bryson DeChambeau have all secured automatic selection, with the big question remaining whether or not Keegan Bradley will be a playing captain. He sits 11th on the points list, with Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa, Ben Griffin, Maverick McNealy and Brian Harman the others currently inside the top 12.
