San Antonio Spurs, perennial All-Star reportedly had mutual interest in trade
The San Antonio Spurs have the second overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, positioning them to either pick or trade for a cornerstone player to pair with Victor Wembanyama. Already linked to several star-caliber players in NBA rumors, it appears the interest is mutual with at least one of them.
ESPN's Shams Charania reported on the Pat McAfee Show that All-Star forward Kevin Durant and the Spurs had mutual interest in a pairing ahead of the NBA trade deadline. It came ahead of a summer where many around the league expect Durant to be dealt.

While the Phoenix Suns primarily discussed a Durant trade in February with the Golden State Warriors, San Antonio also expressed interest in acquiring the All-Star forward. Unlike Golden State, where Durant blocked a trade to, he was very receptive to the idea of playing for the Spurs.
On some level, Durant makes more sense for San Antonio than acquiring Giannis Antetokounmpo. While Antetokounmpo is the superior talent and younger, he would cost significantly more to acquire. The Spurs could land Durant and keep the second overall pick.

It would mean a potential pairing next season of Wembanyama, Durant, De'Aaron Fox and Stephon Castle in the Spurs starting lineup. San Antonio could then use the second overall pick on guard Dylan Harper, bringing him off the bench behind Castle and Fox.
While Phoenix isn't expected to make massive changes this summer, there's a growing belief that Durant will be traded. If the Suns don't have an issue trading Durant inside the Western Conference, the Spurs could be well-positioned to acquire him.

A lot changed for the Celtics when Jayson Tatum went down with a torn Achilles, but there was always a chance that the core group of that team would get broken up during the offseason because of how much money is on their payroll. Horford could find a way to a team that has a better chance of winning next season, and the Knicks do make a lot of sense. Could Al Horford sign with the Knicks? Not only does it make sense for Horford to sign with the Knicks because of basketball reasons, but he also has a connection with one of the players on the team. 'If they go get Al Horford this summer, … I think (he) would be an unbelievable fit on this Knicks roster.' Horford has played an important part for the Celtics on and off the court over the years, and he can be the player that the Knicks are looking for. He would be a solid backup to Towns, and he can play both the 4 and 5, so there are times they may decide to put both on the floor at the same time. It will be an interesting offseason for the Knicks, and hopefully, they can get some quality depth on the team.

Dodgers' Tyler Glasnow is optimistic about recovery from shoulder injury
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Tyler Glasnow is feeling optimistic about his recovery from a shoulder injury that has sidelined him since late April, one of five Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitchers who are on the injured list. There's no timetable yet for his return. The 31-year-old right-hander got hurt against Pittsburgh on April 27. He was recently moved to the 60-day IL. 'My shoulder is totally fine,' he said Tuesday. Glasnow downplayed the general body soreness that manager Dave Roberts mentioned on Monday. He said back tightness after a bullpen session prompted a precautionary decision to rest him for a few days. 'We're both on the same wavelength,' he said of himself and the team. His shoulder feels better, he said, and he plans to throw a bullpen session later this week. He played catch in the outfield Tuesday. 'I'll be back as soon as I can in a healthy way to help the team in the playoffs is my goal,' he said. Last season, Glasnow didn't pitch in the postseason because of right elbow tendinitis. He signed a $135.5 million, five-year deal before the 2024 season. Also Tuesday, the Dodgers signed right-hander José Ureña, who was designated for assignment last weekend by Toronto. He was 0-0 with a 3.65 ERA in six appearances for the Blue Jays. He began the season with the New York Mets, giving up five runs in three innings of his lone appearance. Ureña, 33, has spent 11 years in the majors with Miami, Detroit, Milwaukee, Colorado, the Chicago White Sox, Texas, the Mets and Blue Jays. He is 44-77 with a 4.78 ERA in 239 games. While Towns and Jalen Brunson just led New York to its first ECF appearance since 2000, many have questions about if those two can actually win a championship together due to their defensive shortcomings. Durant isn't what he once was, but he's still a high-level scorer who could take pressure off Brunson, and Mitchell Robinson could potentially be the starting center. (Whether Robinson could hold up without getting hurt is another question, and that goes for KD as well.) The Suns will surely consider all options when it comes to a Kevin Durant trade. If the Knicks are actually serious about trading Karl-Anthony Towns, maybe we see some fireworks.
