Golf superfan gets tattooed with star players ahead of Open's return to NI
The 35-year-old from Carrickfergus, Co Antrim, now has Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry, Jon Rahm, Tommy Fleetwood, Ludvig Aberg and captain Luke Donald all depicted on his left leg.
While he will not have completed the set by the time the Open Championship tees off at Royal Portrush Golf Club on Thursday morning, he is confident of doing so before the start of this year's Ryder Cup at the Bethpage Black course in New York in September.
And this week he got a chance to show off the progress on his golfing body art to one of the greats who is already inked on his leg.
The Carrickfergus Golf Club member got a favourable reaction from Spanish two-time major winner Rahm when he met him at the conclusion of one of his practice rounds at Portrush.
'He says he loves it,' Mr Black told the PA news agency.
'He's seen it and he really likes it. So it's nice to know that.'
He added: 'I started it in February. I wanted to have it finished before the Open, but fell short of that deadline, but I'll get it finished for the Ryder Cup. I've got Rory, Shane, Tommy, Ludvig, Jon Rahm and Luke Donald so far.'
Mr Black will be hoping to encounter some more of the game's star players when he returns to Portrush on Friday to watch the second round action.
'I'm a massive golf fan, I've played for about 20 years,' he said.
'I'm going up on Friday with the family – I'm really looking forward to it.'

Love Island's Emily Moran shares the affordable SPF skin tint behind the girls' villa glam
Love Island's Emily Moran has just let us in on the affordable skin tint all the girls have been using in the villa to achieve their natural, glowy complexions If you've been wondering how the Love Island girls are managing to look so effortlessly glowy and flawless under the blazing Spanish sun, former Islander Emily Moran has just dropped the secret. During a 'natural villa glam' make-up tutorial to her TikTok followers, Emily revealed that there's a certain complexion product all the girls have labelled as their number one in the villa. The product they're on about is the NYX Professional Makeup Buttermelt Glaze Soft Glow Skin Tint. Claiming that Helena and Megan were the ones who suggested this to Emily, who opts for a slightly darker shade to get that bronzey glow and to colour match the rest of her body. Not only does this skin tint deliver that natural-looking, dewy finish that we're all obsessed with at the moment, but it also has SPF 30, making it ideal for sunny weather and holidays. Of course, we still strongly suggest wearing an SPF (ideally factor 50) underneath, as you're unlikely to get the amount of sun protection you need with the amount of product you'll be using. However, it's great to have that added layer of protection throughout the day. If you're after more skin tints that will actually stay in place during the summer months, our beauty team has reviewed a lot over the years, and rounded up nine of the very best. Mirror's beauty editor, Laura, is a big fan of Milk's Hydro Gel Grip Tint. She says, "This skin tint blends on so well, and makes skin look gorgeous from the first swipe: smooth, glowy, and perfected, but in a very natural way. What impressed me most, though, is just how well this finish lasted throughout the day. Whereas, I'm a huge fan of the Kosas BB Burst Tinted Gel Cream. As soon as I tried this, I knew it was going to become my new staple. Featuring copper peptides and squalane, this hydrating formula provides a glowy, natural-looking base that feels just like skincare.

Mikel Arteta immediately identifies next Arsenal transfer after Viktor Gyokeres move
Arsenal are close to securing a £63.7million deal for striker Viktor Gyokeres and they have identified Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze as their next target this summer Arsenal are ready to turn their attention to Eberechi Eze once they get a deal for Sporting Lisbon's Viktor Gyokeres over the line - with the Crystal Palace star tipped to leave the club this summer. Eze has just scored the goal that delivered the FA Cup to Selhurst Park, also scoring in the semi-final win over Aston Villa. The Eagles are hoping to retain their top talent but keeping hold of their winger could prove a challenge too far. Arsenal are close to securing a £63.7million deal for Gyokeres, with a No 9 their priority this summer, but they won't stop there and will turn their attention to adding even more firepower to their frontline. Eze's preference is a move to the Emirates, as per The Independent, and those close to the player are confident a deal to take him to Arsenal will be completed in the next few weeks. The Gunners hope to secure a deal for £60million, rather than the reported £68m release clause, but negotiations still need to be completed with Palace, who will be loathed to continue losing their top talent. Last summer they sold Michael Olise to Bayern Munich while defender Marc Guehi is linked with a move away. It has previously been claimed that Arsenal were architecting a deal that would involve three instalments of £20m. Throughout the summer the north Londoners have been linked with adding a wide forward to provide competition for the likes of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli. Arsenal were linked with a move for Nico Williams, who was also on Barcelona's radar. It is thought a move to the Nou Camp was on the cards but the delay eventually saw the Spanish winger choose to pen a new 10-year deal with Athletic Bilbao. Real Madrid 's Rodrygo, who faces an uncertain future at Real Madrid, has also linked with a move to the Emirates, but it now looks as if Arsenal will look to secure a deal for Eze. Last week the north Londoners finalised a deal to land Noni Madueke from Chelsea. Earlier this week Arteta claimed: "There's still a long time in the window and we are seeking still. In terms of numbers, we are short and we have to improve the depth and quality of the squad. We are constantly looking in the market."

Liverpool paid the price for £25m transfer rule break with Jurgen Klopp admitting 'pain'
Liverpool broke a golden transfer rule when securing the services of Thiago Alcantara back in 2020, with then-manager Jurgen Klopp left frustrated given the star's circumstances at Anfield Jurgen Klopp broke a golden transfer rule by signing Thiago Alcantara for Liverpool. The Spanish midfielder enjoyed an illustrious, trophy-laden career with Barcelona and Bayern Munich before arriving at Anfield in 2020 in a £25million move at the age of 29. However, Liverpool took a huge gamble on signing the seasoned veteran, given he was entering the twilight years of his career and held very little resale value as a result. It also went against Liverpool's traditional recruitment drive of only bringing in fresh faces under the age of 25 years old, according to one insider. Back in 2022, a source told the Liverpool Echo of Thiago's move: "When a player is younger, there is a chance [to improve] but when a player is older, there are fewer chances. "The older players we've seen [who have been bought] are top players like Thiago, he was the best European midfielder at Bayern and we signed him for a decent fee. But usually we don't sign players older than 24 or 25." While Thiago displayed flashes of brilliance during his time at Anfield, scoring three goals and providing six assists in 98 outings, many football fans will ponder whether the juice was worth the squeeze. That is considering that he spent large parts of his tenure with the Reds sidelined through injury, including missing all but one game of the 2023/24 Premier League campaign due to persistent hip and muscular problems. Injury is something that caused then-manager Klopp to fret due to his adoration and respect of the star, later saying in 2024: "I know injuries have been a frustration for him and also for us. But the level that he was able to play at when he was available was incredible. "This is what I will remember. Now he will go in a new direction with his family and we can only wish them well. Wherever he plays next I would be happy to watch. An artist of the game who will only ever paint the most beautiful pictures." Despite offers from Saudi Arabia as time on his Liverpool contract ticked down, Thiago ultimately decided to step away from the beautiful game for good at the age of 33, content with his remarkable list of achievements for club and country. Klopp also parted ways with the Reds at the end of the 2023/24 season, calling time on his nine-year tenure at Anfield, with a Premier League title and a Champions League trophy among the seven pieces of silverware he won in all. He was swiftly replaced by Arne Slot, who was able to engineer a Premier League title-winning campaign despite recruiting just Federico Chiesa during last summer's window, and largely sticking with the talented squad inherited from Klopp. However, Slot has been eager to make the side more of his own this summer. After renewing deals with Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, but failing to retain Trent Alexander-Arnold who left for Real Madrid, Slot wasted no time in securing Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen by activating the star's £29.5m release clause. Soon after, he smashed Liverpool's club-record transfer fee by signing attacking-midfielder Florian Wirtz from Leverkusen in a £116m deal, before adding Milos Kerkez to the ranks of Anfield in a £40m move from Bournemouth. With Frimpong arriving at the age of 24, Wirtz being 22 and Kerkez just 21, it's clear that Slot has reverted back to securing proven players who still have their best years ahead of them. Should any of his new acquisitions fail to find their footing at Liverpool in the coming years for one reason or another, they are expected to hold their resale value given their young ages. Slot will hope to hit the ground running in pre-season, with Liverpool now on their pre-season tour of Hong Kong and Japan, facing AC Milan today (Saturday, 12.30pm UK time) and then Yokohama FM before returning to Anfield to face Athletic Club ahead of the new campaign. The Reds face Crystal Palace in the Community Shield come August 10, before turning their attention to Bournemouth for their first game of the Premier League season five days later.
