The India U-19 cricket team is currently touring England for a series featuring five Youth ODIs and two Youth Tests, starting June 27. Ahead of the official fixtures, the team played a 50-over warm-up match against an Invitational XI at Loughborough on Tuesday. After winning the toss, the hosts chose to bowl first. IPL 2025 breakout players Ayush Mhatre and Vaibhav Suryavanshi opened the innings for India but failed to make an impact, scoring just 18 runs between them. Mhatre fell in the second over, followed by Suryavanshi in the fifth.India found themselves struggling at 91/5 by the 13th over. However, a solid partnership between Kanishk Chouhan (79) and Rahul Kumar (73) steadied the innings, with the duo adding 140 runs off 112 balls. After their dismissals, India stood at 251/7 in the 36th over when Harvansh Singh Pangalia joined RS Ambrish at the crease. What followed was a stunning counterattack. Ambrish smashed 72 off 47 balls, while Pangalia initially settled in before exploding in the death overs. After reaching 47 off 33 balls, he brought up his fifty with a boundary on the next delivery. In the final three overs, the 18-year-old wicketkeeper-batter tore into the English attack. In the 48th over, Pangalia launched two massive sixes off Manny Lumsden, who also bowled consecutive no-balls. He continued the assault with another six off Matthew Firbank in the next over. In the final over, Pangalia wrapped up the innings with a flurry—one four and three consecutive sixes off Lumsden, the last of which brought up his century in just 52 balls. His second fifty came off an astonishing 18 deliveries. India ended the innings at a commanding 442/9.Pangalia's explosive knock included nine sixes, with a clear preference for the leg-side boundary. Representing Saurashtra in youth cricket, the Gandhidham native is also known for a 117-run innings against Australia last October, where he hit seven fours and six sixes. His family now lives in Canada, where his father works as a truck driver in Brampton.

'Wapas Track Pe Aaja': Prithvi Shaw Recalls Sachin Tendulkar's Advice
Last Updated: Shaw made his last appearance for India at the highest level in July 2021 against Sri Lanka during a T20I match played at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Prithvi Shaw, who became the youngest batter to score a century on Test debut for India in October 2018, was seen as the next big thing in international cricket. But the right-handed batter from Mumbai failed to live up to the billing. He, in fact, hasn't played for India since July 2021 and even went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction as well last year. Shaw, who has made headlines for all the wrong reasons in the past couple of years, revealed a piece of advice he received from batting great Sachin Tendulkar. According to Shaw, Tendulkar is one of the few people who reached out to him and shared valuable advice. 'Sachin sir knows about my journey. Arjun and I have been friends since we were 8-9 years old. We've played together and grown up together. Sir was also there sometimes. I had a word with him a little while ago too. Hardly 2 months ago. He was practicing at the MIG. And I was there too. I spoke to him then too. When things go awry and you drift away, you need that mentor, who can light a spark in you. He still believes in me. He said, 'Prithvi, I still believe in you, and I'll continue to do so.' Because he has seen me grow up. Even today, he tells me, ' Sahi track pe aa ja, jaise pehle tha ' (Come back on the same track as earlier). Everything is possible in the next 13-14 years. So he believes in me, and that means a lot," Shaw told News24. Shaw has played five Tests, six ODIs, and one T20I for India, apart from making 79 appearances for Delhi Capitals in the cash-rich Indian Premier League. The former India U-19 captain last played a competitive match for Mumbai in December last year. Shaw, who has captained Mumbai in domestic cricket in the past, earlier this week ended his ties with Mumbai after being granted a No Objection Certificate by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) to sign up with a new domestic side for his 'growth and development as a cricketer." In the letter that Shaw sent to the MCA, the 25-year-old said he was grateful for the time he spent in the Mumbai team, for which he made his debut in 2017, but desires to move on now. IND vs ENG: If Team India win the 2nd Test match vs England then Shubman Gill will become first Indian captain to...
Shubman Gill. (PIC - X) New Delhi: The second match of the five-match Test series between India and England will be played at Edgbaston in Birmingham. It will start on July 2. In this Test, Shubman Gill has a chance to create history. Actually, the Indian team has not been able to win on this ground so far. Team India played the first match on this ground in 1967. Be it Virat Kohli or Dhoni or Dravid or Sourav Ganguly, no Indian captain has won here in 58 years. However, Gill will have a chance to get his name registered in the history books. If he manages to end the drought of 58 years, he will become the first Indian captain to win at Edgbaston in Birmingham. India's history at Edgbaston: When India played a Test match at Edgbaston for the first time in 1967, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi was the captain. England defeated Team India by 132 runs. After this, in 1974, India played a Test against England for the second time on this ground, when Ajit Wadekar was the captain. India had to face defeat by an innings and 78 runs in that match too. Then in 1979, India played the third match under the captaincy of S Venkataraghavan. In that Test, the English team defeated the Indian team by an innings and 83 runs. In 1986, Team India played a Test at Edgbaston under the captaincy of Kapil Dev. This match was a draw and according to the records, Kapil is the first Indian captain to draw a Test at Edgbaston. According to statistics, he is also the most successful Indian captain at Edgbaston. India stayed away from the Edgbaston ground for 10 years: After that, Team India stayed away from the Edgbaston ground for 10 years. Then in 1996, Team India came to play a Test match on this ground under the captaincy of Mohammad Azharuddin. In that match, England defeated India by eight wickets. In 2011, when India played a Test at Edgbaston under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, England won by an innings and 242 runs. In 2018, India played a Test at Edgbaston under the captaincy of Virat Kohli and the Indian team lost by 31 runs. On India's tour of England in 2021-22, the Indian team played four Tests under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, but the fifth Test was postponed due to COVID-19. It was played in August 2022. By then Kohli had stepped down from the captaincy. In such a situation, Jasprit Bumrah captained Team India and India lost this Test by seven wickets. Before this match, India were ahead in the series by 2-1. If the match had happened then, Kohli also had a chance to create history. However, this could not happen.

Ex-India Star Follows Sunil Gavaskar, Points Out Exactly Why Yashasvi Jaiswal Dropped 4 Catches
Despite scoring a century in his first-ever Test match on English soil, the first Test between India and England was one to forget for India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal. The 23-year-old dropped as many as four catches in the outfield, costing his team a load of runs as India went on to lose the match on Day 5. Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif - a brilliant fielder during his time - has given his reasoning as to why Jaiswal may have ended up dropping so many catches. Kaif suggested that the taping Jaiswal wears on his fingers and palms may have led to the dropped chances. "When you practise with the Duke's ball and with the weather being cold, you get hurt. Then you often put on a tape to protect your fingers," Kaif stated, speaking in a video posted on his X account. Why is Yashasvi Jaiswal dropping catches? The reason could be the band on his palm. Listen. — Mohammad Kaif (@MohammadKaif) June 25, 2025 Jaiswal could be seen wearing a tap around the intersection between his fingers and palm during the first Test. "In such a situation, the fingers are stuck and there is no free movement. You can't hold onto the catch because the tape becomes a sponge. The ball bounces off it, so that's the drawback. Your fingers also remain too tight and lose flexibility. The natural connection with the ball is lost," Kaif explained. Following the match, Sunil Gavaskar also pointed out the tape that Jaiswal wears on his hands, stating that it should not be allowed. "Players should not be allowed to wear webbing past that point," said Gavaskar, speaking after the match. "Otherwise, you might as well wear gloves," he stated. "I just think that, just like how when a batter comes out to bat, they check the size of the bat, or when boxers are going in they check their gloves, umpires should do the same for this. They should say, 'Hello! Sorry, you cannot have it over there," Gavaskar said. Jaiswal dropped three catches in the first innings and one in the second. England opener Ben Duckett was dropped by Jaiswal in both innings, and ended up slamming a combined 211 runs across the two innings, going on to win the 'Player of the Match' award. Jaiswal also dropped Ollie Pope in the first innings when the English No. 3 was on 60. Pope went on to slam a century. The other batter he dropped was Harry Brook, who scored 99 runs in the first innings, helping England nearly claw back the deficit to India's total.
