Somireddy flays Jagan for playing victim card

The Hindu19-07-2025
Former Minister and Sarvepalli MLA Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy flayed former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy of playing the victim card by alleging harassment by the present government.
Coming down heavily on the erstwhile YSRCP regime, he said the 'past rulers' demonstrated on how commit crime without getting caught. 'After resorting to multiple scams and money laundering, Jagan Mohan Reddy is now playing the victim card and crying harrassment.'
Mr. Reddy formally adopted some families at Vedayapalem in his constituency on Saturday under 'Bangaru Kutumbalu' of the much-touted P4 concept and offered them utensils, essential commodities, books and clothes. He also promised to extend support for the higher education of the wards of the beneficiaries.

YSRCP accuses TDP govt in AP of misusing power to wrest Pulivendula by-poll

Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh) [India], August 9 (ANI): YSRCP has charged the TDP-led government in Andhra Pradesh with gross misuse of power and resorting to vehement undemocratic measures to wrest the local body by-poll in Pulivendula and reiterated despite all such nefarious measures the image of former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will not be to media here on Saturday, Party spokesperson Rachamallu Siva Prasada Reddy said, the election being fought not with TDP but with official machinery and the ruling coalition is hell bent on damaging the image and fame of YS family. He appealed to the people and cadre to work with a strong resolve braving all hardships to retain the alleged that the election is being fought in the most undemocratic manner with the official machinery siding totally with the ruling party while TDP has been resorting to violence, bloodshed, misuse of police, jumbling of polling booths causing inconvenience to voters who are committed to YSRCP, extravaganza of money, foisting false cases on political adversaries, besides heavy poaching.'Adding to this they have been threatening and book cases against active YSRCP workers and sympathizers, not taking complaints filed by the opposition and at times booking cases against the victims and police playing proactive role making it YSRCP versus police election," he said. He said that the sequence of events for the past one week shows that election campaign is not being held in the normal and traditional form but it is being held in an unconventional and undemocratic manner. 'The sole intention of TDP is not to win the by-poll but to bring a blot on the image of YS family which has been invincible in this region, he said. 'They are even propagating that we will attack media which is in our favour and shift the blame on ruling dispensation which is the most audacious allegation and the most self-degrading statement. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will be a changed man after winning the 2029 polls and all erring persons would have to pay a heavy price," Prasada Reddy said. Government to highlight Brand AP at Visakhapatnam Investors Summit

VIJAYAWADA: Though more than three months remain for Investors Summit in Visakhapatnam on November 14 and 15, the State government has already begun preparations with an aim to attract huge investments and ensure its success. Officials have been directed to prepare an action plan for organising roadshows in prominent cities in India as well as abroad to showcase the investment opportunities in Andhra Pradesh. The TDP-led NDA government, which is of the view that the previous YSRCP regime damaged Andhra Pradesh's brand image to a great extent, is now making efforts to regain the trust of investors and taking measures to invite investors in large numbers to the summit, and convince them to invest in the State by explaining the advantages AP is having in various fields. In fact, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu during his recent visit to Singapore, mainly focused on restoring the faith of investors towards AP, and extended invitations to several investors to attend the summit to be held in Visakhapatnam.

Pulivendula ZPTC bypoll: YSRCP, TDP trade barbs over ‘shifting' of polling booths

1 2 Tirupati: Kadapa MP Y S Avinash Reddy on Friday accused the govt of shifting the polling booths to faraway villages in a bid to win the Pulivendula ZPTC bypoll through "undemocratic means". The YSRCP leader alleged that around 4,000 voters were being forced to travel several kilometres to reach the polling booths, which he said is detrimental to the conduct of free and fair elections. "When ZPTC elections were held in 2021, this was not the case. But today, at the behest of the ruling party, polling booths have been swapped or interchanged, forcing voters to travel quite a bit of distance to cast their votes. For example, voters of Nallagondavari Palle will now have to travel to Nallapareddy Palle to be able to cast their votes despite the presence of polling booths at their village. Because of the decision of the election commission to shift the polling booths, out of 10,000 voters, about 4,000 are going to be impacted, which is nearly 36% of total votes," the three-time MP claimed. NDA leaders dismissed the claims as "baseless", stating that YSRCP has realised that it is going to lose the Pulivendula ZPTC bypoll and is resorting to all kinds of diversionary tactics. BC welfare minister S Savitha, Jammalamadugu MLA C Adinarayana Reddy, and former MLC B Tech Ravi, whose wife M Latha Reddy is contesting the Pulivendula ZPTC bypoll, said YSRCP approached the high court, which declined to interfere in the matter. B Tech Ravi dared YSRCP to prove even a single allegation, adding that TDP will immediately withdraw from poll fray if Avinash Reddy manages to do so. The bypoll will be held on Aug 12.
