Note the ring on the inside of the case. | Image credit-NieuweMobiel With rumored specs for the Pixel 10 models showing the new phones weighing more than their predecessors, it doesn't take a giant leap of faith to consider that the extra weight could be due to the placement of magnets inside these devices. Another theory is that the extra weight is coming from larger capacity batteries placed inside the Pixel 10 line. Heck, perhaps the new handsets will have embedded magnets AND larger batteries. We can always dream, can't we?
The Pixelsnap cases for the Pixel 10 models contain another "M" besides magnets. That is microfiber, which helps to protect the phones inside the cases. The cases will supposedly be available in the same colors as the phones. Those colors include:
Indigo (Blue)
Obsidian (Black)
Limoncello (green)
Frost (Light Blue) Okay, Pixel people and potential Pixel people, we are less than a week away from the unveiling. I'm getting excited since I'm beginning to feel the lure of the Pixel 10 drawing me away from my iPhone 15 Pro Max. Yes, I will admit that AI is a major reason why I might be returning to the Pixel ecosystem this year.

Google Photos might get a new way to show if images were made or edited with AI
The discovery was made in version 7.41 of the app, where code references a feature called "threepio." It would add a new "How was this made" section to the photo details view. It would involve swiping up on a photo or video, where users could see details about how it was created or edited. The labels it might include are: "Media created with AI" "Edited with AI tools" "Edited with multiple AI tools" "Edited with non-AI tools" "Media captured with a camera without software adjustments" It may also detect when multiple editing tools were used or when several images were combined. Additionally, if the file's edit history is missing or has been changed, Google Photos would show an error message instead. According to the source, this functionality appears to be powered by Content Credentials, a system that attaches a persistent history of edits to a file. That information stays with the media even when shared, unless it's removed. The idea isn't entirely new for Google. The company has already developed SynthID, a DeepMind project that invisibly watermarks AI-generated images. While it's unclear if SynthID is being used here, both approaches aim to give people more context about the origins of visual content. Adobe's Content Authenticity Initiative tracks edits in image metadata, while Meta has committed to labeling AI-generated images across Facebook and Instagram. Together, these projects show that the tech industry sees transparency around AI edits as increasingly important. If Google releases this feature with Google Photos, it could be a useful tool for quickly checking whether photos and videos are authentic. While the irony is not lost on me that this is the same company that developed tools to generate very realistic AI images and videos, I can see how having this could be valuable in areas like journalism, education, and online sales, where trust matters. Additionally, including such a tool in one of the most widely used photo apps could set an example that others follow.

Google launches AI-powered Flight Deals
Vlad, 14 August 2025 Today Google is launching Flight Deals, an AI-powered flight search tool. It's rolling out over the next week and you can access it either at its dedicated webpage, or in the top left menu on Google Flights. Initially, it's only available in the US, Canada, and India, and will be in beta "to gather feedback and explore how AI can improve travel planning", Google says. The company also explains that Flight Deals is "designed for flexible travelers whose number one goal is saving money on their next trip". The interface is chatbot-like, so all you need to do is describe when, where, and how you want to travel in natural language, "as though you're talking to a friend", and Flight Deals will take care of the rest. The point is for you not to have to manually play with different dates, destinations, and filters in order to find the cheapest flights. Instead, the AI will do that for you in the background and then give you a neat presentation of what it's found. Example searches Google gives include "week-long trip this winter to a city with great food, nonstop only", or "10 day ski trip to a world-class resort with fresh powder", but of course you can ask for anything and see how it goes.
