CUTM shines at U.S. tech meet, highlights Centre's semiconductors potential
Centurion University of Technology and Management (CUTM) Vice President D. N. Rao on Sunday said that the Indian government's initiatives and new policies regarding the promotion of semiconductors would create lakhs of jobs in the near future for youth pursuing engineering and related courses.
He said that the University was giving utmost priority to equipping students with additional skills to meet the expectations of the electronic components industry which plays a vital role in power, telecom, automobile, information technology and other sectors.
Professor D. N. Rao along with a team of faculty members from the University gave a presentation on 'Opportunities in the electronic component industry and benefits for students,' at the 62nd Design Automation Conference (DAC) which began on Sunday in San Francisco, U.S.
In a press release, Dr. Rao said that CUTM which has campuses in Vizianagaram, Bhubaneswar and other places is the first University to have an opportunity to participate in the prestigious Design Automation Conference (DAC) which will go on till June 25.
'Our participation at DAC 2025 reflects our commitment to cutting-edge research and innovation. It is a proud moment for Indian academia, as we are the first university from the country to showcase our capabilities on a world-class stage,' he added.
The University showcased several innovations including digital manufacturing for apparel tracking, electronic control unit-embedded system innovation, and smart retrofit solution for manual lathe automation. The University also signed an agreement with Marquee Semiconductors, a leading semiconductor design company in the U.S. for the improvement of the University's curriculum and to provide hands-on experience to the students in advanced design automation tools.

Regulator DGCA has put in place a special audit framework for a "360-degree" evaluation of the country's aviation ecosystem and transcend the current practice of siloed assessment. The move comes a week after the fatal crash of Air India's Ahmedabad-London Gatwick aircraft soon after takeoff that killed 241 people onboard as well as many others on the ground. Against this backdrop, DGCA emphasised that the comprehensive special audit is designed to transcend existing siloed assessments and will focus on examining the safety management systems (SMS), operational practices, and regulatory adherence across all aviation domains. The special audits will be applicable to scheduled, non-scheduled, and private air operators, Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) organisations, Approved Training Organisations (ATOs), Flying Training Organisations (FTOs), Air Navigation Service Provider (ANSP), Aerodrome Operators, and Ground Handling Agencies (GHAs). By adopting a risk-based and integrated approach, DGCA said these audits will proactively identify systemic vulnerabilities, enhance resilience, and ensure strict adherence to International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) and the country's national aviation objectives. These audits will be in addition to the regulatory audits carried out as per the Annual Surveillance Programme. The audits will be carried out by multi-disciplinary teams led by senior DGCA official (DDG/Director) as the lead auditor. The official will be supported by specialists from Flight Standards, Air Safety, Airworthiness, Airspace & Air Navigation Services, Licensing, and Aerodrome Standards directorates.
