Forest sign French forward Kalimuendo
French striker Arnaud Kalimuendo has signed a five-year contract with Nottingham Forest, the Premier League club announced on Monday. According to French media, the transfer paid to ex-club Rennes is believed to be at least 30 million euros ($35 million). "Nottingham Forest is delighted to announce the signing of Arnaud Kalimuendo, who joins the club on a five-year deal," read a statement on the English club's website. The 23-year-old came through the ranks at Paris Saint-Germain, before enjoying a breakthrough season at Ligue 1 side Rennes last year when he netted 18 times in 34 appearances in all competitions. Prior to joining Rennes in 2022, he made five appearances for PSG and enjoyed success during loan spells at Lens -- scoring 21 goals in 65 outings. "When I heard about the interest from Forest, I was honoured. This is a proud moment for me, joining a team who had a strong season last year and a club with great history," said Kalimuendo. "I'm ready for the challenge, and I arrive here with good experience. I had a good season last year with goals and assists but I want more and want to reach a new level here." Two-time European champions Nottingham Forest finished the 2024/25 season in seventh place after surprisingly spending much of the season in the Premier League's top three. Before the start of the new campaign, manager Nuno Espirito Santo endured a disappointing pre-season -- no wins and only one goal scored in seven matches -- and a disappointing transfer window. However, Forest kickstarted the season with a comfortable 3-1 win over Brentford on Sunday and new signings have begun arriving at the City Ground. The recent additions of winger Dan Ndoye, playmaker Omari Hutchinson and ex-Manchester City midfielder James McAtee have bolstered Nuno's squad. "It's been a busy few days for us — the culmination of a lot of hard work from our staff over a number of weeks," said Forest chief football officer Ross Wilson. jta/cyj/nf/mw

Nottingham Forest complete signing of Arnaud Kalimuendo from Rennes
Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of striker Arnaud Kalimuendo from Rennes. The France youth international, 23, has signed a five-year deal at the City Ground. The Athletic previously reported that Forest were in talks with the French club over a potential deal for a fee of around £26million before he underwent a medical in London on Saturday. Bienvenue, Arnaud! 👋 — Nottingham Forest (@NFFC) August 18, 2025 Kalimuendo was a member of France's silver medal-winning team at the Paris Olympics in 2024 and scored 18 goals in 34 appearances last term. 'When I heard about the interest from Forest, I was honoured,' Kalimuendo said in a statement on their website. 'This is a proud moment for me, joining a team who had a strong season last year and a club with great history. Advertisement 'I'm ready for the challenge, and I arrive here with good experience. I had a good season last year with goals and assists but I want more and want to reach a new level here. 'I can't wait to play in the Premier League, and to play at the City Ground. I watched games from last season and it's clear the fans create a beautiful atmosphere. I'm excited to see them and impatient to get started.' Forest have enjoyed a busy few days in the transfer market with Omari Hutchinson joining from Ipswich Town in a club-record £37.5million deal before James McAtee arrived from Manchester City for a package worth £30m. Forest have been keen to bolster their attack ahead of their return to European football for the first time in 30 years next season after their place in the Europa League was confirmed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport last week. They have also signed Jair Cunha and Igor Jesus from Botafogo, Dan Ndoye from Bologna and goalkeeper Angus Gunn on a free transfer. Forest beat Brentford in their season-opener and return to action against Crystal Palace on Sunday. Nottingham Forest have already bolstered their attacking ranks with the addition of Igor Jesus from Botafogo this summer and Chris Wood offered a reminder of his quality, with two superbly taken goals against Brentford at the City Ground on Sunday. But, as he has regularly mentioned recently, Nuno Espirito Santo is keen to ensure that Forest have the strength in depth to cope with the additional challenges of Europa League football. The club have now spent in excess of £90million on three new additions in the space of a few days with James McAtee (£30m) arriving from Manchester City and Omari Hutchinson (£37.5m) from Ipswich. And the £26m addition of Arnaud Kalimuendo from Rennes will ensure Forest are not short of forward options — and he is another player who arrives with the potential to improve. Advertisement The 23-year-old scored 17 goals in Ligue 1 last season and has netted 34 times in 93 league appearances in three years with the French club. He is armed with a turn of pace and likes to play off the last man, but also possesses physical strength and can hold the ball up. Forest also have Taiwo Awoniyi as a further forward option, with the Nigeria international among the substitutes on Sunday. But Forest will play a minimum of eight additional games as they return to the European stage for the first time in three decades and they will regularly have to cope with three games in a week. Nuno knows what the Europa League is about, having guided Wolves to the quarter-finals of the competition in 2019-2020. (Damien Meyer/AFP via Getty Images) Spot the pattern. Bournemouth set to sign Ben Doak from Liverpool in £25m deal
Bournemouth are set to sign Ben Doak from Liverpool in a £25million deal. The Athletic previously reported that a deal was close with the south-coast club moving ahead of several top-flight rivals to try and seal a move for the 19-year-old Scotland international. The transfer is expected to go through on Monday after he underwent a medical on Sunday with Doak becoming Bournemouth's fourth signing of the summer following the arrivals of goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic and defenders Adrien Truffert and Bafode Diakite. Advertisement He would also go some way to replacing Dango Ouattara after the forward completed a club-record £37million move to Brentford on Saturday. In turn Doak will follow Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Caoimhin Kelleher and Jarell Quansah in leaving Liverpool in a significant summer of change at Anfield. Doak joined Liverpool from Celtic as a 16-year-old in March 2022 for a fee of £600,000 and spent last season on loan at Championship club Middlesbrough, registering three goals and seven assists in 24 appearances. In total Doak has made 10 senior appearances for the Merseyside club. Bournemouth began their season with defeat at Liverpool on the season's opening day and are next in action against Wolverhampton Wanderers on August 23. () Spot the pattern.
