Advanced Iranian missile expands destruction in Tel Aviv

Shafaq News6 hours ago

Shafaq News / Israel said, on Thursday, that Iran deployed a multi-warhead missile in a direct attack on central Israel, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing confrontation.
The strike coincided with a new wave of Iranian drone and missile assaults targeting military infrastructure in Tel Aviv and Haifa.
According to Israeli Army Radio, security officials confirmed that the missile used in the latest Iranian barrage was designed to separate into multiple submunitions upon impact. 'The Iranian missile that hit Gush Dan was composed of several smaller projectiles,' said one senior defense source. 'It exploded in the air and dispersed across several sites, increasing the scope of destruction.'
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for the attack, announcing it as the fifteenth wave of Operation True Promise 3, Iran's broad retaliatory campaign against Israel. In a statement, the IRGC said that the latest phase featured a new barrage of 'composite' strikes using ballistic missiles and drone swarms.
'A new wave of coordinated attacks with missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles has been launched against military installations and industrial sites tied to Israel's defense industry in the cities of Tel Aviv and Haifa,' according to the statement.
The IRGC said Thursday's operation included more than 100 attack and suicide drones, with a primary focus on overwhelming Israeli air defense systems.

Iraq enters Arab nuclear emergency group over worries of radiological impact

Baghdad ( – The nuclear regulatory body in Iraq announced on Wednesday the establishment of a united Arab crisis cell aiming to prepare for potential nuclear emergencies. This initiative comes in response to escalating regional tensions regarding possible US strikes on nuclear sites in Iran. The effort, which involves regulatory authorities from around the Arab world, was formally launched during a virtual conference presided over by the Director-General of the Arab Atomic Energy Agency, Salem Al-Hamdi, according to a statement cited by the Iraqi News Agency (INA). Iraq is represented by Deputy Director of the National Authority for Nuclear, Radiological, Chemical, and Biological Control and Chairperson of the Arab Network of Nuclear Regulatory Bodies (ANNuR), Sabah Al-Husseini. Officials from Jordan, Lebanon, Yemen, Kuwait, Libya, Bahrain, Tunisia, and Sudan attending the meeting decided to set up a regional operations center to allow immediate tracking and crisis communication. The initiative will provide prompt notification and coordination for any unusual radiation levels. The step follows concerns that Israel or the United States may strike Iranian nuclear facilities, which are less than 1,000 kilometers from Baghdad and even closer to major cities in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.

Israel to Khamenei: You will be held accountable

Shafaq News/ Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz on Thursday accused Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei of committing 'grave war crimes.' In a post on X, Katz announced that the Israeli military will intensify its strikes against Iranian strategic and government sites deep inside Iran, including the capital Tehran. 'The cowardly Iranian dictator sits in the depths of a fortified bunker and fires aimed shots at hospitals and residential buildings in Israel.' 'These are war crimes of the most serious kind,' he stressed, adding that ' Khamenei will be held accountable for his crimes.' Katz confirmed that he and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had jointly directed the Israel Army to escalate military operations. Earlier today, the Israeli Army spokesperson Brigadier General Effie Defrin had stated that the Israeli Air Force was expanding its operations to strike 'deeper' within Iranian territory, including nuclear sites in Bushehr, Fordow, and Natanz, noting that Israel has 'additional targets planned.' Israel Katz (@Israel_katz) June 19, 2025

We are your fighters: Pro-Khamenei mobilization emerges in southern Iraq

Shafaq News/ A group of Shiite seminary students in Basra announced on Thursday that they are prepared to carry out suicide operations in support of Iran. The group declared loyalty to Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and affirmed their adherence to the religious authority in Najaf [Ayatollah Ali Al-Sistani]. The announcement, read aloud during a press conference, marks the first public mobilization of its kind in Iraq since the outbreak of direct hostilities between Israel and Iran. 'We do not condemn, we do not issue statements—we point our weapons at the chests of traitors,' the statement read. 'To Sayyed Khamenei, we say: we are your fighters.' The group called on the Iraqi government to move beyond 'cold statements' and enact sovereign action by immediately closing Iraqi airspace to any aircraft used for military operations against Iran, calling such a move 'the least level of response.' They further demanded the expulsion of foreign forces, singling out US troops as 'the most dangerous occupiers,' and described the American embassy in Baghdad as 'a poisoned dagger in Iraq's sovereignty.' Speaking to Shafaq News, cleric Sheikh Ali al-Maliki emphasized, 'The time calls for action, not compromise. We are openly declaring ourselves martyrdom projects in the hands of the Guardian Jurist, Ayatollah Khamenei, and we are fully prepared to defend Iran and confront the agents of the Zionist [Israel] project.' Meanwhile, in Babil province, residents of Al-Midhatiya staged a demonstration, raising images of both the Najaf clerical establishment and Khamenei, alongside Iranian and Iraqi flags. Protesters denounced Israeli strikes on Iran and pledged full solidarity with Tehran. The escalation comes days after Abu Ala al-Walai, secretary-general of the Kataib Sayyid al-Shuhada armed group, warned that dozens of Iraqi "martyrs-in-waiting" are prepared to attack US interests if full-scale war erupts between Iran and Israel. Tensions have soared since June 13, when Israel launched a surprise wave of missile strikes deep inside Iranian territory. Iran responded that same night with massive retaliatory barrages. The exchanges have resulted in dozens of casualties and widespread infrastructure damage on both sides, triggering international alarm over the potential for a broader war that could destabilize the entire region.
