Eight terrorists killed in K-P anti-terror operations: ISPR

Eight terrorists were killed during multiple engagements in Khyber- Pakhtunkhwa, according to a statement issued Monday by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
"An intelligence-based operation (IBO) was conducted by the Security Forces in general area Mir Ali, North Waziristan District. During the conduct of operation, own troops effectively engaged the Khawarij location and resultantly, three Khwarij were sent to hell," the ISPR news release stated.
In another IBO, conducted in South Waziristan District, two khwarij were successfully neutralised by the security forces.
"However, during intense fire exchange, one brave son of soil, Naik Mujahid Khan (age: 40 years, resident of District Kohat) having fought gallantly, paid the ultimate sacrifice and embraced shahadat," the ISPR added.
Meanwhile, two more engagements took place between own troops and khawarij in Khyber and Bannu districts, resulting in killing of three khawarij.
Weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered from the killed khawarij, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area against the security forces as well as target killing of innocent civilians.
"Sanitisation operations are being conducted to eliminate any other Kharji found in the area, as the security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve," the press release added.

The encounter erupted after police received intelligence that a group of militants was moving from Gundi towards Kot Kashmir. Acting swiftly on directives from Bannu Regional Police Officer Sajjad Khan and District Police Officer Jawad Ishaq, the local police, alongside members of the area's peace committee, pursued the suspects. The militants were intercepted at Kot Kashmir, where they opened fire on the advancing police and volunteers. A heavy exchange of gunfire ensued. One terrorist was neutralised on the spot, while two others retreated into a nearby house, attempting to use women and children inside as human shields, the statement said. "However, the police surrounded the house and continued the fight with great skill, which lasted for two hours. At the same time, the police strategically took out the women and children trapped in the house and continued the fight with the terrorists there and killed them," the statement said. Amid the crossfire, police constable Shahidullah Gundi Khankhel sustained critical injuries. He was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital but succumbed to his wounds en route. "Policeman Shahidullah Gundi Khankhel was seriously injured and was sent to the District Headquarters Hospital, where he was embraced martyrdom while succumbing to his injuries on the way," the police statement confirmed.
