York mum's portrait of daughter wins award
As one of the winning 100 portraits in the contest run by the British Journal of Photography, the photo of Nina was displayed on digital screens across Britain.During January, it could be seen in locations including Leeds Station, Manchester Piccadilly Station and on billboards in London.
"I was doing a project based on my family, my children are dual heritage and my husband's family are Indian," Ms Mehta, who is originally from Richmond, said. "When he grew up, he lived in London surrounded by all of his Indian family, culture and heritage every single day."The winning photo was taken on a family day out to the Yorkshire Dales, near Middleham. "Nina loves wearing her Indian clothes that her Nani brings back from India for her," the photographer added."So we had those in the car and she put them on and stood on this little path."She was really proud, really showing 'this is who I am, this is where I'm from and this is me'."Ms Mehta said she had been keen to capture Nina's mantra, 'I'm Yorkshire and I'm Indian - both, not half'.
After encouragement from a fellow photographer, Ms Mehta entered the photo into the competition, not expecting a response. "I got this email one evening and I was jumping around my living room," she said."It was crazy that I'd been shortlisted and then when I got the follow up email, that I was one of the winners."Coming home from Leeds one evening, Ms Mehta's husband saw Nina's picture on a screen at the station."He had a moment of thinking 'that's unbelievable' and was welling up and sent me a picture," Ms Mehta added."That weekend, we all went and stood in Leeds station on a cold Sunday morning and we got to see it. "Nina and I were jumping up and down because it was really exciting."It's been on huge billboards, I couldn't believe the size of the billboards that it's been on."The York photographer's ambition is to carry on capturing her family's identity and branch out to picturing other families with dual heritage.Listen to highlights from North Yorkshire on BBC Sounds, catch up with the latest episode of Look North or tell us a story you think we should be covering here.

Gold Dancer reels in stablemate Westport Cove for Galway glory
Westport Cove was the 85-40 favourite for the Grade Three contest having opened his account over fences at Ballinrobe in late May and looked in control for much of the way under Paul Townend. 'I spoke to Richard (Fahey) on the phone and he said to do as the owners wanted so I didn't look back and she duly obliged. They wanted black type so it is great. 'That's my first ride for Richard, I know the owners and they put me forward for the ride. The owners are from around Kilkenny and this is brilliant.'

Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight set to write next James Bond movie
The British screenwriter Steven Knight has reportedly been tapped to write the next James Bond movie. According to Deadline, Knight recently met the director Denis Villeneuve and landed the job after various other writers were also considered. Villeneuve is currently filming the third Dune instalment. The 65-year-old writer is best known for co-creating the long-running gameshow Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? and creating the hit crime series Peaky Blinders. His other small-screen credits include Taboo, A Thousand Blows and The Veil starring Elisabeth Moss. On the big screen, Knight was written the scripts for the acclaimed dramas Eastern Promises, Dirty Pretty Things, Locke and Spencer. He also wrote and directed the sci-fi thriller Serenity starring Matthew McConaughey, which received negative reviews. The Guardian's Charles Bramesco called it 'magnificently terrible'. His upcoming credits include the Peaky Blinders movie The Immortal Man and period drama series House of Guinness for Netflix. When talking about The Immortal Man in 2023, Knight name-checked 007. 'The biggest difference between a film and TV series is the budget,' he said to the Mirror. 'When you do stuff for TV, you often have to ask people to imagine it. But with a film, you can really do it. You can blow stuff up. Will Tommy be giving James Bond a run for his money? Maybe. There are parallels. We always thought of Peaky as very cinematic, so we are finally finding a screen big enough for what we want to do.' While the role of James Bond remains up in the air, a June report claimed that Tom Holland, Harris Dickinson and Jacob Elordi were top of the wishlist. The news came just after the Dune and Arrival director Villeneuve was officially attached. 'I intend to honour the tradition and open the path for many new missions to come,' he said in a statement. 'This is a massive responsibility, but also, incredibly exciting for me and a huge honour.' The 26th Bond film will follow Daniel Craig's final outing, No Time to Die, which made over $774m at the global box office. Earlier this year, in a reported $1bn deal, Amazon MGM bought the rights to gain 'creative control' of the franchise. This week, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy mentioned the film during a Q3 earnings call. 'James Bond is in the hands of one of today's greatest film-makers,'he said. 'We cannot wait to get started on 007's next adventure.'

Zawe Ashton received 'toxic texts' from family after Tom Hiddleston wedding rumours
Tom Hiddleston and Zawe Ashton have been engaged for three years now, but there's said to have been confusion over their relationship status after he was referred to as her husband Zawe Ashton has now confirmed whether she has quietly married fellow actor Tom Hiddleston. The Marvels star gave an insight into their relationship following speculation that the couple had tied the knot after getting engaged in 2022. It was announced in Vogue last month that Zawe, 41, and Tom, 44, are expecting their second child together, with the Loki star called her "husband" by the outlet. The couple, who have been romantically linked since 2019, however hadn't previously revealed that they had got married. She has now opened up about the situation and spoken about the impact of Tom being described as her spouse It comes after radio host Gemma Atkinson opened up about why she hasn't married her partner Gorka Márquez. Zawe, whose acting credits include Fresh Meat and the Handmaid's Tale, spoke to Miquita Oliver, 41, about her relationship on the Miss Me? podcast. The actor appears as a guest on the latest episode, which has been released this week. Speaking about her relationship with Tom, Zawe said: "We've been engaged for a long time." She continued by sharing on the podcast: "There are ... I think there have been publications that have named us husband and wife already." She went on to recall that having prompted questions from loved ones, teasing that they had been disappointed to have not been invited to the supposed wedding. Zawe however confirmed that she hasn't eloped with Tom. Zawe said: "Those text messages were very ... there's some toxic paragraphs that were thrown my way! Like 'uh, okay, no invite? Whatever.' It's like, no, no, no. It didn't happen. We didn't do it in secret. We haven't eloped." She continued by telling podcast host Miquita that the couple refer to each other as "husband and wife". Zawe suggested that, amid expecting their a second child together, those titles felt better suited to them than alternatives. Zawe said on the podcast: "It's just a semantics thing. We call each other husband and wife. I think at some point you're like 'girlfriend, boyfriend' ... with a kid and another one on the way? Does that feel right?" Miquita said that it's "nice" but teased that the couple "might have to actually have a wedding soon". Zawe responded: "Yeah, but it's also p***ing off people who are actually married. So like, you realise that's just like ... not real, yet." Zawe added that herself and Tom have "thought about" getting married in "different ways". She later said: "The spiritual bond and the anchoring for what it does for you as a couple and as a family, I think, is really appealing to both of us."
