‘Best savings of my life' says shopper who bagged stylish lamps for £9 instead of £98
Bargain hunter Debbie Smith shared the amazing Dunelm finds in the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group, leaving users blown away by the "amazing" deal.

She bagged the Ardelia Table Lamp for just £4.50, down from £45, and the Elements Jaula Easy Fit Pendant Shade for £4.90, down from £49, from the popular homeware store.
Posting photos of the items to the Facebook group, she wrote: "Quite literally the best saving of my life at Dunelm today. £98 reduced to £9 for both... BUZZING."
Responding to the post, one Dunelm fan said: "Amazing saving well done!", while another praised the retailer for having "loads of bargains".
The Ardelia Glass Table Lamp is currently available on the Dunelm website for £45, in both champagne and emerald green.
The retailer describes it as "your home's next must-have", with a "gorgeous textured shade and attractive base".
Meanwhile, the Elements Jaula Easy Fit Pendant Shade is also available on the Dunelm website, on sale for £28, down from £35.
Other shoppers replied to the Facebook post with their own bargain finds. One shared an artificial plant they had picked up for £7.50 instead of £30.
Another customer found a £119 dressing table reduced to just £11.90, saying they were " so pleased" with the bargain.
A third posted: "I got some bedside units for £5 each instead of £119 each in my local one.
"Although they tried not to sell them to me at that price."

The Elements Hard Shell Suitcase is scanning for £21, down from £30.

Labour poised to take control of Gupta's UK steel factories
The Government is poised to take over operations at Britain's third largest steelworks, aiming to save 1,500 jobs at Sanjeev Gupta's Rotherham-based factory. The High Court heard on Wednesday that the Government's official receiver is ready to step in as administrator if Mr Gupta is unable to finalise a rescue deal involving £75m from US giant BlackRock. 'The official receiver is prepared, should SSUK [Speciality Steel UK] enter into compulsory liquidation, to take control of SSUK's affairs,' the Department for Business and Trade said in a letter to Mr Gupta's creditors. The letter said the Government had held discussions with SSUK but had not been negotiating any taxpayer financial assistance to either Mr Gupta or any potential buyer of the company. The Government said it was also not discussing putting SSUK under state ownership. That 'would be the subject of formal ministerial decision, and no such decisions have been made'. The submission comes as creditors of SSUK seek to shut down the company in order to claim their debts. Mr Gupta is looking to avoid his company falling into the hands of the official receiver by in effect liquidating the company himself and using his fresh BlackRock funding for what the court was 'a management buyout'. In a court hearing, Judge Sally Barber said she could not decide on the spot whether to wind up SSUK – in effect putting the company under potential government management – or to let Mr Gupta go ahead with his plan. The judge said she needed more information on what would happen, saying she could not decide 'on a completely blind basis' having not seen a draft application from the official receiver. The matter is likely to return to court in the coming days, piling pressure on the Government to be more explicit about its plans for the cash-strapped plant.

Washer-dryer - £109.35 per year According to the expert, washer-dryers account for approximately 12% of a typical energy bill. "The high usage of water and electricity required to heat it, combined with lengthy cycles, makes these appliances expensive to operate," he explained. He revealed that using an average of 425 kWh per year will set you back approximately £109.35. To reduce their running costs, Marc recommends opting for cold-water washes and running full loads. He also suggested switching your usage to off-peak times between 11 pm and 8 am, when electricity use is typically cheaper. Marc advised homeowners to check with their energy supplier as optimal usage times may vary. According to energy pros, it makes up 8% of the household energy bill, with a 302 kWh/year model costing around £77.70 annually. He advised homeowners to keep the fridge at around 4°C and avoid frequent door opening to maintain efficient operation. "One of the biggest mistakes is keeping the fridge too cold, which wastes energy. The ideal range is between 3 and 5°C," he explained. Washing machine - £62.78 per year Washing machines use substantial energy, particularly for hot-water cycles, and represent 7% of a household's energy expenses. Marc recommended avoiding pre-wash settings to cut down on both energy and water consumption costs. He revealed that the average 244 kWh/year model will set you back £62.78 annually. Dishwashers (£58.41), desktop computers and electrical hobs (£46.57 each), kettles (£43.48), and plasma display panel TVs (£38.37) are among the other worst offenders for annual electricity usage. 'As energy costs remain pretty sticky, being aware of the most energy-intensive appliances in our homes and knowing how to use them efficiently can lead to substantial savings," Marc said. "By making small adjustments, like washing clothes in cold water or adjusting your fridge temperature, homeowners can lower their bills and reduce their environmental impact."
